Cook had the dropsies at Texas. He was being passed up by true freshman and transfers. With the most recent recruiting haul he wasn’t going to see the field.
I can see why these guys want to start as soon as possible. Guys can learn a lot by sitting on the bench, but I feel like more is learned through game speed. I think a lot of these guys would rather be on the field getting live reps as opposed to studying and then hoping you do well come test time (the later season where they get inserted into the offense)
Everything you said is true and is certainly an important factor for guys deciding where to go. I think the main thing with playing time no matter the player or program is the importance of getting as much advertisement of yourself and your "brand" out there and easily available and accessible for coaches and fans as to increase your free agent value on the open market which is year-round and open throughout the entirety of a college players career from the 1st day of eligibility until they enter the NFL draft, suffer career-ending injury, quit, or lose NCAA eligibility. So having highlights of actual in-game playing time is crucial as far as increasing your value, as practice film etc is likely kept private by the program's staff....it's all strictly business now. Whereas before NIL era you could do best by going to an Alabama for example as a top recruit and develop and wait until your the next man up...but in the meantime practicing against the other top athletes at their positions in the country every day and learning from the some of the best and see if u measure up to their standard etc and what areas you need improvement and can focus on fine-tuning your game and make the most out of special teams as well as providing depth and relief when those opportunities arise....then when those guys turns came as starters they were immediately impact players as they played against highest level of competition in practice every day already and could ball out a year (or 2) and get drafted same or higher as any guy that played 3 to 4 years in college as a star of their team because organizations knew they were getting a factory manufactured quality product. Those days are gone and so goes the era of dynasties as no single team has enough $ alone to compete financially against the open market on every single player being a free agent at all times and having to be constantly recruited over again and paid accordingly to keep on your roster and have $ leftover to bring young guys in etc which is already becoming clear in how the sport seemed more balanced and competitive as a team has its starting roster of guys who you hope are studs and little to no depth beyond that at all, so Bama can't be rotating 2 or 3 units deep to keep fresh legs on the field and have no drop off in talent or on-field performance and in some cases have better backups come in than the veteran starter....that ability was why they were so damn good and extremely tough to beat

@djsnyder001: That isn't a bad idea. When Delaware transfers from FCS to Conference USA in 2025, their entire Team must sit out a couple of seasons before being allowed into Postseason Play. And in their year of transferral in 2024 they were disallowed from FCS Playoff qualification despite finishing with a good record. Maybe Players should sit one year to alleviate some of the hopscotch.😂🤔🏈B.W.
@ ronjba WR is wide open at Georgia. None of their guys this season were explosive, separation, strong, one on one creators. Their receiving group had the most dropped balls in SEC. Coaching staff are looking for dudes.
I get it with the Branch’s…they committed to USC when they were in the PAC-10, but then got moved to a difficult conference. So now they want to move back to an easier conference again.

Rashada should’ve never left Arizona State 🤷♂️
He lost the QB battle to Leavitt in the spring and they have the same eligibility. He never would have played unless Leavitt got hurt
Also he would never play over Lagway if he stayed in Florida (his original commitment)

What happened? He lived in Eugene for a week and then thought about living in the bay area for the next year at least.
