That's good!!! Sis I have been perming 3x a year for 36 yrs since I was 14yo! It works for me. Glad you know that works 2x a year works for you😌. And my texture changed tremendously after I stopped eating meat 6yrs ago. Way less course still thick, frizzy but an 8 from a 12 in thickness

Love your content! I relax my hair once a year because of my career it’s always in twist and braids and I trim in between styles .

I’m thinking really hard on relaxing, I’m tired of the frizzy roots after working out. Keratin treatment ain’t cutting it even though it makes my hair feel strong.

8 weeks is 2 months but yes over processing is a no no. Know your hair type and pay attention to your new growth and texture. I generally get a touch up every season but sometimes I'll plan it around the summertime because with heat and sweating, they sometimes don't last for me. Everybody's different so know your hair and what you can tolerate but please don't over process it. Be well loves 🧡

An hour is crazy. Ten minutes and my virgin hair was over processed. EyE used the regular. Was looking like a greasy duck.
Made my own concoction and did a protein treatment. ThAnkhs to God it’s finally feeling as if EyE have some hair on my head.

I only do a touch up 3 times a year. And dont do box braids ...only weave or crochet braids.
To keep my fullness and bounce to my hair. Do the textlax method.
Either night before or couple hours before putting the relaxer.. I slather my hair with design essential vitamin restore treatment, L'oreal ever pure bond and Etae conditoner (hydrolyzed wheat protien and silk protein) i seal it with organic sun flower oil
With my scalp i used blue magic shea.
I found it help keep the hair soft and not over processing the hair.
Your goal is not creat supper straight. Cause when the new growth comes in thats how u can have breakage when trying to go long periods with out a touch up.
You want it to look like a permitted blow out or stretch hair. Almost like braiding hair u use for box braids.

This is good info. Please don’t try to achieve European straight hair with chemicals.
I’ve heard that it’s a spiritual connection the way our hair spirals.
We are connected directly to the cosmos with our natural curl/spiral

Update, my lastest relaxer I stretched to 18 weeks, paid attention to my new growth how it was feeling and length of time it took to detangle, plus I was getting headaches from putting them in buns because the weather is too hot to wear out. Opted not to use braids and I notice my hair was alot less dry and I had alot less breakage. I washed and deep conditioned my hair about 3 times a month. This time my hair was in alot better condition as a result. Will try for 20 weeks next but if at 18 weeks it feels that stretching longer may cause breakage I will relax at 18 weeks again. Thanks for the great tips

My hair confuses me. I’ve relaxed most of my life and I’ve had times where it’s been healthy and times where it’s been very damaged.
During the pandemic, I was severely depressed. I barely ate. I barely slept. I rarely showered, much less washed or combed my hair, but I would relax it about every three months, most of the time I just had it pulled back in a ponytail. The first year of normal socializing, it stayed long, thick, and healthy, even though I had started combing and wearing it my normal way a few times a week. Then it got relaxed several times with relaxer that was too weak for my hair and it broke off now that I’m trying to take care of it. It’s very unhappy. Not sure why anytime I pay more attention to my hair, it does worse. When I’m too busy or too depressed to I care about it, my hair seems to do better.
I’m very much a rock n’ roll woman and it has always surprised me how big of an issue that is with black hairdressers… enough that they try to “blacken” me via my hair.

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

If you’ve been wearing you hair out this entire time I think it’s time to relax again if you have significant new growth or go back natural. Your hair could start to break off because of the two textures. 6 months is more than enough time for a touch up

Mines is under the bra strap, more like mid back.
It's very thick. It definitely is, just take patience and listening to your hair.
I relax my hair either 6 - 8 weeks, plus I split it into two separate sections, as my hair is thick but the strands is fine. I can't relax my hair all in one, as I can't get a proper relax with the volume.
I am in the Caribbean, but my hair just doesn't hold moisture, so I practice the LOC method every two days. Also, I have a schedule for deep steaming ( moisture and protein).
Hope this helps, keep the faith. It took me 3-4 years with frequent trims.
