      I am too!
When I made my first video about this, I was shocked at how many could relate as I thought it was just me.
So glad to finally dig into these kinds of conversations and hope to keep seeing you in the comments.
      Thank you for watching !

Ive been thinking about this one for a long time! Im glad to see a video about it! This is the exact same reason why I stopped getting synthetic hairstyles! I just wear my natural hair alone!

Thanks for watching! For a long time, we've been sacrificing our health for aesthetic. I'm glad to be having this conversation as well.

Beautifully done! Thank you! Yes I agree, this is a huge and maybe one of the most significant reasons I have found to wear my natural hair. I do not want someone else's hair in my head. I also do not want to help destroy the planet due to my own vanity. If I did go back, I guess I would try rebundle but at those prices for sure I would be reusing it

@@focuseddisarry8398 Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!
Unfortunately, embracing one’s own hair is a decision that happens much later in life for many of us.
Having these kinds of conversations definitely affirms that decision.
This is for the many women who are not quite there but steady on their way 🤎🙏🏾

Would you be saying the same if you needed a TRANSPLANT? at the end of the day it's someone else's body part in you? I think not. Human hair is fine, you can pray over it, and sanitise it, or maybe don't wear it. I think we like to over think things and complicate our lives

Everytime I cut and threw out my braids, I always wondered if it would go to a landfill since it's basically plastic. I experienced the irritated scalp before, thinking that it was maybe the tightness of the braids on my scalp, but they always felt fine. It's definitely the chemicals you mentioned, which I didn't even think about! Thanks for the vid and enlightening us on the other options :)

      Thanks so much for watching.
It’s the chemicals that cause allergic reactions as well what complicates the recycling process.
I recognize these chemicals are also all around us in other ways, but I think braiding hair as a plastic is not a topic we chat about often enough. 🙏🏾

The problem with human hair, is that over 90% of human hair is NOT donated. The primary way of getting it through the Hindu temples where is used as a form of sacrifice during a coming of age ceremony for young girls (hence the spiritual aspect of wearing human hair). It’s stolen from these temples.
The second is holding a grown woman down at gun or knife point to cut off their hair against their will.
Keep in mind, these are places where hair is a sign of social status-it isn’t meant/allowed to be cut apart from coming of age and becoming a widow. While the hair can and will grow back, it’s very traumatic to lose your hair unintentionally and you stick out like a sore thumb when you’re the only one who doesn’t have hair to their knees. It’s quite shameful in some families and repercussions can be very severe for these women .
So it won’t ever be me. It’s not an industry, a supply and demand I could ever support.
There are some companies that ethically source hair through intentional donations. These companies can tell you EXACTLY where they got the hair from and those are the only companies I would trust if you’re that determined to use human hair.

Since I began dedicating this channel to this topic, I've received a lot of recommendations for locs. It sounds like the perfect solution to many women, and I've been considering it myself. About the shirt, maybe that's what we need to get more of us talking about this. Thanks so much for watching!

I think the solution they are providing is reasonable. I say this because the outcome is that either you pay for braiding hair that has very little environmental and personal physical harm or you suck it up and realize that synthetic hair is harmful and have to radically accept your own natural hair.

Thanks so much for this comment. I've been thinking a lot about the next video topic and your comment came at the right time... almost as a sign. I'll be filming the video today. But generally, I agree - sustainable options are a ton of work and therefore, more expensive. So opting in is an investment and a long term one.

Everything literally is a disaster and unless we are doing our research, we often choose the lesser of many evils - like you've mentioned, from beauty to food to to air, to medication! I do think it's important to not obsess but to give ourselves a healthy balance of information. I'd move with you to the village but I'm sure we'll face issues equivalent in risks.. or maybe not? Thanks so much for watching.
