Mine has tolerance!!! Sometimes I think he has more than me. I can touch him everywhere, I can remove and take his bowl when he eats, I can turn him all around... He is very friendly and patient with everyone, even children when he knows them. There are things to put off of this video because not all Yorkies are the same!

This video is all wrong. My Yorkie loves other dogs, doesn’t bark all the time, loves children, potty trained easily, loves fetch and any other game with a person, nine years old with no health issues, hypoallergenic for family members who are normally allergic to pet dander, NO shedding. She love when people she knows or doesn’t know come to visit. Yorkie’s are a great dog.

By far one of the best dogs. I grew up with a yorkie since I was 8 and he absolutely adored children while he was also a gentleman with other dogs. He had a strong personality and he loved everyone blindly. Unfortunately we lost him before his 14th birthday. ❤

  • @Zedrie
    @Zedrie 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Ease up! This is a horrible presentation for Yorkies 🙄 and I am a staunch supporter of harsh truths.
    Here's a good list:
Not so great for small children - Yorkie are small so there are not very robust and can get hurt pretty easily by accident, there's a laundry list of better dogs for young families, but if you have a Yorkie already, it's not like it's a Sophie's choice. Keep your dog, love you dog; just remember he's as durable as an over-ripe avocado so maybe don't send your Yorkie and a couple of 3 YOs outside for the day unsupervised.
    That's pretty much it.
Yorkies are food motivated, so anyone who says they are hard to train/housebreak is not putting in the effort; yeah I said it, it's a YOU problem - a lot of small dogs don't like imposing weather, luckily Yorkies are small enough that a strategically placed large puppy pad close to there normal "outside" exit and a little encouragement will continue a lifelong habit of using a pad that's not going to be much trouble to clean and replace. Protip: little dog = little bladder; this is not the dog who can go 12-16 hours between bathroom breaks.
As for the barking, "yappy" bs? Exactly that, bs.
Do they bark? Sure, that's called being a dog - they are alert dogs, it's what they do. I'm not sure what n00b is getting a Yorkie as a "guard dog", they are a toy breed that could be beaten up by a moody toddler, but they will alert you to any and all mammals approaching what they have deemed their territory; works for me - I am far scarier when threatened then any dog on the planet, but deaf in one ear so I like the heads up. My little guy is trained to stop as soon as I say thank you to him, it's honestly depends on the dog, not the breed. If you want a silent pet, get a goldfish.
Pure breeds inherently come with predictable health problems because of the points in their breed history where they were inbred to create specific breed-wide traits, a cross or a mixed has a larger gene pool to draw from and will be less likely to develop adverse health problems if that's a concern for you. Animal shelters are overflowing with homeless pups, everyone wins if this sways you to a mixed breed.
Probably the ONLY real advice I would give to someone considering a Yorkie, I would give to someone considering any type of dog: If the dog is going to be alone 10-12 hours a day, don't get a dog - big or small, dogs are pack animals and as such, want to be with their pack.
Training, positive reinforcement and stimulation require time from you; *this* is the part where people go wrong and then blame the poor dog. Some dogs are more independent than others, but no dog is a naturally solitary mammal - that's not found anywhere in the canine species.
Some people will get irritated and defensive that I put the onus on them but *that* is a hard truth, you will get out of you dog what you put into your dog; sh!tty dog? Sh!tty owner.
If you want a dog to play with and pet and cuddle and love at your convenience, a dog that will practically train itself and be completely cool with you living a full life outside your home and away from them whenever the mood strikes you? You want a cat. That's a cat. Great animal, exactly what you are looking for.
Welcome to advice on Yorkies NOT written by chatGPT.

My Yorkie Bichon is territorial and protective when seeing or hearing potential intruders... However when I call her back to attention and investigate with her her, she is immediately calmed down. This comes down to basic dog training she responds to knowing that the alpha has taken care of the issue and there is no threat. I love my baby Roxie!

Our Yorkie is a star in our neighborhood. I see if she is freezing and I hug her, rub her sides and take her inside. Also, do not forget the little shoes. We prefer the rubber booties, they are light and protective from any common and dangerous stuff on the road, such as spits and thrown away garbage.

I am at number two and I disagree with 1 and 2 so far.
I have a 5-year-old that is as sweet and gentle with everyone! Not only that but before I got her, I had a 170 lb Shepherd/Akita mix and a Newfoundland/retriever mix that adored her and she adored them.
I will continue with a video until I hear a couple other untruths. However, so far I don't believe this video. Big dog syndrome you mean like a Chihuahua? This is a ridiculous video! I'm done watching it.

Mine hates other dogs and children, sweet natured but barks like crazy. Although her health is robust now, she has had both knees surgically corrected, expensive dental surgery, is 12 and barely house trained. She stands on the pee pad and pees on the floor. She is sweet but I would never recommend one to anyone not prepared for expensive vet bills.

What a terrible title! I’m sure many Yorkie owners (like myself) will say what a joy our lives have been since the addition of our Yorkie family member(s). Maybe try calling it, “10 Things to Consider Before Buying A Yorkie”. While many of your points seem accurate, not all apply to every Yorkie.
This video comes across negatively and I think they’re a joy to have and be loved by.

I am Blessed with a boy and 10 yr old Sweet little girl. The new boy is wild, but very loving, only 3 years old.
A Veterinarian Murdered my very first little boy, we all Loved him too much.
The Veterinarian lied to us, had no idea what he was doing, had never touched a toy breed before in his new practice. His wife posted these facts on their Facebook page without realizing it.
It's been 2 years now, I still cry, miss him everyday. I adopted him from people who didn't love him. I loved him more than any human in my life, and I'm 64.

I had one. Her name was tippy and she was really sweet. She got a long with my kids. The only person she didn’t like is my ex-husband. She hated him. If he got close to me she would try to get him. He would have to run and get on a kitchen chair. He worked nights and we lived down a long dirt road. As soon as she heard him pull on that road she would start growling in the closer he got the louder she got. He made me give her away. ☹️ He got tired of getting bit. Funny thing is, lol he got her for me. I miss her.

they’re really nice, but mine is sadly too loud and sometimes barks at everyone, but sometimes shes super nice and wants to cuddle with me. her mood changes quickly but my whole family loves her a lot, like she can literally bark and bite me and wont let me hold her and then the other day she’s extremely cuddly and wants to be with me. idk if thats the problem with me and my family or her, but yeahh. also, she’s REALLY hungry every single minute. like literally, she tries to steal my food everytime i let her in my room (sometimes she sneaks in to do so, but i always notice her) she’s 4 years old if anyones interested, so yeah

I have 4 and I want 4 more! Best breed in the world. The key is you have to be the bigger bully or they will bully you . Don’t get just one, you’ll have issues, they hate to be alone. Kennel train the first night you bring them home, let them earn their way in your bed. This breed goes to the groomer a lot so it’s important they’re crate/kennel trained. This breed takes time and a lot of maintenance to maintain a beautiful coat, if you don’t have time and money, don’t get one.

Yorkie is the worst breed. They crap all over. Not potty trained, needy. Follow you everywhere. Annoying barking. Separation anxiety. Aggressive, weak dog breed. Joint problems. They are fragile. One false step it's over. I hate dressing them up and they are not your babies. Not potty trained. Crapped all over at the store. Embarrassing. Many health issues. Picky eater. Needs to be washed and groomed constantly. Major issue. They are whimsy, cold rainy etx. They are promadonnas
