I think I just stumbled upon probably one of the most well edited, story driven, edited videos on the internet. It reminds me of the classic YTP editing style made into an episode with an actual story. Dude your underrated AF. keep it up man! 👍
Post-premiere thoughts (with spoilers): This was an incredible watch from start to finish. The story is engaging, the jokes and gags are consistently funny, and the editing is very top notch. I loved seeing all of the different characters across the video and how they helped shape the style. My only nitpick I suppose would be Lelouch’s backstory is a little “Code Geass-heavy” if that makes much sense, but that’s probably due to the vast amount of original content throughout the video, so it’s pretty minor and just goes to show how much you’ve improved, especially with TUP. If this is the caliber of quality to expect from future episodes, then I’ll gladly wait twice as long for the next one (well, preferably not, just when they’re ready. After all, you can’t rush art)! I give this a solid 9.5 out of 10! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The two big issues I was trying to fix with this episode were normalizing the volume levels (the Nostalgia Critic was always 10 decibels louder than anyone else) and the backstory opening. That said, there are some subtle differences between the canon CG world and the one of TUP, which will be explored later. Trying to minimize the info dump exposition while also making sure I hit the necessary story points was a challenge, but it at least allowed me to move forward with the story, both for this episode and going forward. Here’s hoping 2.4 is of similar or better quality! (And hopefully not as long!)
Upon getting some retrospect from rewatching the series, my initial criticism is also one of my favorite aspects now because it makes me wonder just how much of the first season is resulted from or correlated with said Britannian War (eg. Inglorious Hitler talking about how evil he is, Germany being involved in the war, and the invasion on France that Downfall Hitler mentioned). I love when a series gives some sweet lore to dig into, but just enough to leave the viewer hungry for more in the next episode 👍
