Must be one of the nicest cats anywhere, and the attention to detail .. . . There must be a secret cupboard somewhere where the wiring is a mess. You know it.
Lol, Teal has his "workspace" that is hideous, Emma's art supplies are always jumbled and I have a pile of misc items in our stateroom settee. Lol we all try to do a weekly cleanup and it goes right back to the usual mess by day 3. 🤪🤪🤪 Lol Teal's wiring is impeccable for the obvious reasons. 😍😍🦹😉
In 2008 Ibought a bristol 34(1975) for $11.000 and after spending maybe another two grand and fixing a couple of wholes, wife and I set sail for Turkey from Ft.Pierce Fl, we made it in 4 months,The adventure was sometimes scarry sometimes boring, sometimes enjoyable 🙂 I think those thingamajingies on the table in the cockpit are probably as expensive as my whole boat 😄 if not more, I wish you guys enjoy and appreciate your time on the beautiful boat(deepnote: it was our first time sailing and I had about an hour sailboat experience on somebody's boat with 5 knots of wind 😁,that was the depth of our experience.)
Ok, day three of the binge. I find myself getting angry with you, Teal. Watching you compromise on NOTHING really makes me feel ashamed of my own handiwork. Seriously though, this is the kind of workmanship the rest of us drool over and aspire to. Keep being great.
Could you talk about the hull shape and the rigging. Also, I'm very curious how the base of the mast mounts to the hull and how the roof can support it. I love the design of your boat from the outside. How the hulls are shaped and where the mast is located on top of the cabin. The mast is located in a completely different location than most catamarans but I assume that is because the designers moved the cabin forward giving you less front deck and more back deck and it probably balanced the boat better in terms of weight distribution. I also love the design of the inside that you did. The original designers designed the living space so that the boat was as low profile as possible so that the boom was as low as possible which makes the wind push the sails from a lower center of gravity giving you more stability and less chances of you capsizing. In my opinion, the overall design is state of the art even though it's 26 years old. If you find another one in the condition that you purchased yours in than let me know. After seeing your boat verses all the others that I've seen, I will not purchase anything else but your design.
Teal, your work is impeccable, every job that you do on that boat is home with such care and perfection. Way to go. One other thing that you did correctly is chose the most perfect wife for yourself. The both of you seem to complete each other and I think that is just wonderful. Emma is a sweetheart, she has grown up before our very eyes into a lovely well mannered lady. You can tell that she is not only loves Compass with all of her heart but her never ending love is always there for her mother and father. You and Linh really raised her well. God bless all of you, you are the perfect role model family for today’s society. By the way, can you please let Emma know that her new glasses are really rad, I love them!
Forgot to mention, every episode that you publish is most enjoyable. Emma mentioned that she just started school. Is she being home schooled? Is some of the home schooling internet based? Thanks for all of your help and answers, You guys ROCK (not literally in the water) in other words, you guys are the BEST!!!!!!! Ciao All!
New subscriber. Catching up with your videos and enjoying them. Five days on the hook.... Have you got an anchor ball ( to hoist from your forestay) , on your list of 'to do's'?? 🤔 😂😂😂
You may want to check the raw water pump impeller on the port engine, if the strainer was air bound it can cause air in your pump as well. Check for rubber streaks on the inside of the housing and the impeller for any damaged or missing lobes.
You have made all your episodes worth watching with all the maintenance, renovations and additions to your yacht. These are a must being this is your home 365 days a year. Everything you have done with the families help has truly been an enjoyable lesson for me.best of luck on your nest passage.
At 67, I am so impressed with your attention to detail. Every project is fantastic! The heating you installed was flawless! I just love to watch all of you working on your boat!
It's great to see you cruise even if it's just by motor. It looks like a roll of butyl rubber will come in handy for all that deck hardware, cheers guys.
I ran across your channel about a week ago. I've been watching a few sailing channels and TH-cam suggested yours. I started with around video 30 and am now up to this one. Your family is so cute! I am also interacially married. I love how you all act as a team with the projects. And the amount of skills that Teal has is amazing to me. I enjoy doing handyman stuff but he's on a different planet. Looking forward to seeing more videos 😃
Beoke my arm and just binged all 80 episodes. Feel like I just went through boat building 101, thanks so much! Also you guys are really fun people and funny I got a lot of laughs from your antics.
So the "on water" adventure begins. This day has been a long time coming. All the hard work, and attention to detail shows in SV Basik's anchor profile. Awesome!
Really like your videos. Reminds me a bit of when I was aboard my first and second ships in the Navy and working with the auxiliary and repair gang. That would have been early 1970's.
Of course, the question is why was the seawater strainer low on water? With Teal’s thoroughness I doubt he bled it incompletely on install. Just bears keeping an eye on for a while to be sure there’s not a bigger cause lurking somewhere.
Nice job , well done . A tip for everyone about trusting the digital map. Open up the map after plotting your plan. You need all details to sail. If you pan out to a full size route you will mis that one detail in the water that will make your day horrible. On the strainer issue. Most strainers installations are self filling. Your raw water pump must be able to suck water up and over true the filter. A bit of air cant be trouble. What if your boat is out on a rough sea state and air gets in. It must replenish it self every time. Good luck and again. Awesome video
It is so great to see you out on the water!!! I'm so excited for you all. Its very uplifting. The boat looks very at home now out there. Enjoy it you worked long n hard for this.
You are such a lucky family to live on that beautiful boat! All of your work is beginning to pay off and I am really looking forward to her getting her rigging and sails up so you can sail away for more adventures!
You are such a perfectionist, Thats good, I also owned boats in baja , But one thing i seen in this vid that scares me is you have a propane tank. Please make shure the compartment is well vented at the bottom of the tank storage cabinet out to the water and strap the tank in , because it will eventually leak someday , been there done that. , It happens , hoses fail , rough seas old age , propane goes down and collects , natural gas goes up and evaporates . Make shure any hose leak can escape down out of the boat before it can reach a spark or open flame from a propane refrigerator or candle . Youve probably already done this . Youve done a Beautiful job .
Yes, our propane locker is well ventilated. Next step is to make sure our tanks are well secured before we go offshore. We always shutoff our propane in the evenings. 👍🏻👍🏻
I start up the computer, log into youtube, see 5 to 6 new videos by several different sailing channels and I am magnetically drawn to your's first! So glad to see OL's new videos each time!
great team work guys . your home is looking really nice . give yourselves a pat on the back. I think a its a bit harder than you make it seem.but all worth it .
Great bumping into you guys in Port Townsend! That boat show was pretty awesome indeed! Was hoping I would get to see you again in Canada next week, however I lost the shaft seal on my boat, so up on the hard we go! Have a safe trip south!
Another great video!👏 I’d like to see more of Linh and Emma driving the dinghy, my oldest daughter was proficient by about Emma’s age! Thanks for sharing.
How is Emma able to make me love you guys more every week.... Great video, as always, and that damn mirror at then end when coming back from the town... Beautiful.
Hi Guys , nice to see you finally on the water. Best of luck to a lovely family. Looking forward to seeing how you protect all the electrics and yourselves from lightening strikes.......anyway , let's get to work.
Oh my, doesn't that new unit look pretty where you put it! And again, you'll love it, really nice. LOL, about the access, as in boats you have to do that to run wiring, but just tell her it lets her re-sort those cupboards ;) and find things too! Agree w/the ladies, you got to get the sails back up, and that winch/line handling done, to get 'er under sail.
That dinghy launch was a cheat - outbboard wasn't screwed to yacht and dinghy wasn't secured to yacht to start... love the projects, even if you're over it, thatnks guys
Cool deal on the Raymarine Axiom. I can't wait to get mine installed. I bought radar to go with mine and I'm saving the money to get their flir thermal camera to go along with it. Linh's cooking make me hungry every time.
Do I really have to say it.....fair winds you four, you’re fantastic. Love the new shades young one, hope your teacher is as good this year as last, can’t wait for you guys to keep us warm this winter up here in MN while we watch you follow the sun.
it's nice to see someone able and willing to do things Right some Fool mounted my bow pulpit 3/4" off square As there are numerous holes that need filling on the deck it's no big thing to fill another few Great family and boat, 'all the best to you
Subscribed! Living on a beautiful catamaran is a dream of mine. I hope I’ll be spending my last years sailing in such a beauty all around the globe. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙏🏻👏🏻🤙🏻 Good winds.
It is so great to see you on the move. The San Juans and Gulf Islands are my favourite places to paddle.Stop in to Cowichan Bay on VI and check out the wooden boat builders there and also Genoa Bay.Janet and I have spent months in that area. Cheers Ross
Great footage, I enjoy your episodes very much ! You all have a beautiful boat and you are a lovely family ! - I look forward to you next chapter, keep up the good work !!
I moved my strainer to a higher easy to get to location like yours , all was well untill motorsailing in rough conditions I noticed a different sound from the exhaust and no water from the exhaust !!! Same as you rebleed system its ok again .After watching one small bubble at a time enter and add up to an air lock again I moved it back to a below water level position . No further problems It should be an upward rise to the pump with no high areas for air to get trapped
Teal...You do some very nice work. Neatness counts and your knowledge of a litany of skills is impressive. You have a wonderful family and I hope you are able to get under whey before the weather turns. Now...Get back to work. You are able to get more work done in a 20 minute video than I can all week. I'm rather slow.
Wait, did I just see Teal cut a square hole for the plotter, and not epoxy the edges of the hole? I feel like he is messing with us. LOL. Oooh. I see a potential project. A transom gate for the dingy? Something to make accessing the dingy easier?
Hey Peter, Great show and fantastic narration as always. Scenery and clouds made it a little "Hazy" when you were doing the beer of the week review. btw. Looking forward to seeing M/V Geordie cruising around someday soon. Cheers.
Great camera work on this one, the water came up looking so good. Some nice glassy water would be great on the SUP. Emma I think you will be a future documentary film maker , I like your work on the wooden boat festival 👍. There did seem to be a few double adds. Looking forward to seeing the sail set up. Have a good week 😊👍
My Daughter is about the same same age 😊👍👍they grow so quick an eat so much lol. That new sail set up won't be cheap. Going to be a blast to watch your adventures. The food you cook linh, looks delicious .
Great video guys I live over in Arlington and that lightning storm was epic lasted a long time thanks for sharing looking forward to seeing more Cheers
Hi Teal why not having the winches together at port side close to the Helm that way you don't need to run around the boat when setting or changing sails Love watching your channel
Emma is looking more and more like Linh with every passing video. This is such a fun and technical channel at the same time. When do we get to see some of Emma's drone shots?
Impressive electronics in the Raymarine chart plotter. (I still want to see the information that sonar provides) Amazingly complex wire routing, but with your access points and pre-planning all was well. (Nobody can trash a boat faster than Teal!). Of course, Basik is not a power boat - WE NEED NEW SAILS😍. So, let’s get the sails and rigging up and functioning Basik Team😁❤️
lol!... I was going to keep your location secret...lol! Anyways now my wife believes me that it WAS S/V Basik we saw on Lopez. Keep on keeping on and you guys will be on your way South soon enough. Emma will LOVE cruising there!
Love your work guys it’s all happening now ,because of you we looking at buying a catamaran now . I’m not as handy so think I’ll get one blue water ready.
Nice work crew in launching the dinghy with a time of 1.23.....it takes me that long just to run to the frigde and grab a soda. I'm a new subscriber and really enjoy your channel....Thanks for teaching, while entertaining and living what I dream for....someday sailing on my very own catamaran...
You're one of my favorite cruising channels to watch I'm so happy that y'all are on the water and on the move I don't know if the project will ever be donebut you keep knocking them out one at a time and that's great and I know Emma's having fun I'm so happy for her and now she has to do school work not exactly sure how that works when you live on a boat and on the move I'm taking it over the internet??
Thank you Ernest! That means a lot to us. We are so excited to share this adventure with you guys. Emma is homeschooled and turns in her work online. Si far it has worked out, but we will probably need to go a different route once we find ourselves in areas where its not so easy to find data.
Teal I really enjoy how you show the installation of your different projects. And the family inner acts with you during it all, keep it up.
Very impressed by all the new projects.
Emma, you are the Best narrator!
my boiler work taught me the suck side of the pump will cavatate at 135 degrees F. new Glasses look great. good job mom! and emma.
Thanks for sharing your family with us. What a beautiful experience and your daughter will have a life few will know. All the best to you and yours!
We're pretty excited to show her life on the water. Thanks for watching!

Wow after all the hole drilling in the hull, it FLOATS. Congrats
🤣🤣🤣🤣 She floats....and looking good too!
From dry dinghy with stowed motor to driving off with three crew (plus the garbage!) on board in 1:23 is impressive ;)
Another enjoyed episode. ... thank you guys, another Friday night fix finished.....till next week., waiting anxiesly. .......

Love being part of your journey, still in awe of your methodology and meticulous work Teal ! And blown away by your awesome crew.🤗👍
Again its amazing to hear Teal talking while looking over the sea working on another piece of the puzzle. Amazing family channel
Absolutely fantastic as always
Boat is looking great...Thanks for sharing...
Nice diagnosis on the steam....I’m not surprised one bit! Teal is a craftsman. Great to see y’all moving around. Love your videos.
We are so lucky Teal is resourceful and can troubleshoot just about everything onboard. 😍😍
Of course, the question is why was the seawater strainer low on water? With Teal’s thoroughness I doubt he bled it incompletely on install. Just bears keeping an eye on for a while to be sure there’s not a bigger cause lurking somewhere.

Teal, both Linh and Emma are beautiful, but... I'm not 100% sure that boat isn't a tad more beautiful. ; ) Smooth sailing!
We love our cat and hope she treats us as well as we are treating her.....and she is 100% more beautiful! 😍😍😍⛵⚓🗺
Just finished watching all of your videos.
It's nice to see you take your time and do everything perfectly.
Teal, you are without doubt the neatest, tidiest and precise worker I have ever seen. No mess? Really? How do you do it? Love this channel!
Love your family keep up the great work
Thanks Gerald!
That's a flux capacitor, it's what makes time travel possible.
Great bumping into you guys in Port Townsend! That boat show was pretty awesome indeed!
Was hoping I would get to see you again in Canada next week, however I lost the shaft seal on my boat, so up on the hard we go!

So cool, thank you. Like your coffee mug....
Lol, us too!
Can I buy this?
SV Basik truly looks good out on the water.
😍😍😍⛵⚓
Almost time to let her grab wind and fly. Done a great job. Cant wait to see it billowing and dancing.
We are all anxious to get our sails on! Working on the deck hardware configuration for our headsail. 💨⛵
@@linhgobenyt Have you thought about adding in a Q&A at the end of the videos? You'd be great :)
Sweet wife, sweet life. Nice daughter as well. Best wishes on your adventures.
How is Emma able to make me love you guys more every week.... Great video, as always, and that damn mirror at then end when coming back from the town... Beautiful.
What a great job you guys are doing with these videos. I really enjoy watching your journey. Thanks for sharing.

Such a great job with the boat! Great attention to detail...and maintaining a great family dynamic. Congratulations!

Extra projects: 1. A coffee mug holder in the cockpit. 2. A hose to clean the anchor
Haha I had the exact same thoughts!

Thanks for the sub and following our journey! We are excited to take you along for the ride! ⛵⚓🗺
Fun to see a Northwest cruising channel. We were at the wooden boat festival in Port Townsend also last Friday. Fun time.
Thought this was Sailing not Motoring channel ;-) Great Job As Always!
We're working on it! But in the meantime, gotta get moving before the weather gets rough and cold. 👍🏻

Very thoughtful in your equipment 👍⛵😎
You're making all that stuff look easy. That's going to be one AWESOME cat when ya get it done. You're like the Mr. Rogers of boat building. Lol
Get the fishing poles out and start practicing.
Bill, he does that to all of us. Making guys look bad since day 1. LoL
I just wanted to say love the episodes and you are a lucky man you have a beautiful family and a wife that can cook
Wait, did I just see Teal cut a square hole for the plotter, and not epoxy the edges of the hole? I feel like he is messing with us. LOL. Oooh. I see a potential project. A transom gate for the dingy? Something to make accessing the dingy easier?

Beautiful Boat. Waiting to see what she can do full sail
Great video guys. Looks a nice part of the world over there. Enjoy. Thanks for sharing
Lol, sorry about the ads! Emma eats a lot and they help keep her fed. 😉🤣🤣

lol!... I was going to keep your location secret...lol! Anyways now my wife believes me that it WAS S/V Basik we saw on Lopez. Keep on keeping on and you guys will be on your way South soon enough. Emma will LOVE cruising there!
Lol, yes that was us! 🙋🏻🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻⛵⚓ Lopez Island was awesome!
enjoy being on the hook .....you all need the rest ... I love this channel :)
Yes sail how exciting woohoo👍👍
Pretty darn slick launching the dinghy, don't see it being quite so fun in some chop, but then nothing is.
Love your work guys it’s all happening now ,because of you we looking at buying a catamaran now . I’m not as handy so think I’ll get one blue water ready.
I was in Port Townsend last weekend on a trip to Forks on my motorcycle.
My Grandparents had property on Lopez in the 50"s, lot of good memories.
@@linhgobenyt that's great
That's going to be one Awsome ship !
Love the dingy pit crew action. Good job!
