Brings back many happy memories. I'm a long time retired now, but drove trucks all over Europe for 26 years. The happiest days of my life.

WOW ! This make me think of old days when I spend all the time I could with my dad and eating miles.......Every day when not at school and weekends to.....It was a pain to get up at 4 AM as a boy , but still.
Sometimes I think I can sense the smell of coffè, diesel and a day old sandwitch.
As it is - today Im do drive a truck to. My dad has quit driving some years ago , but from time to time call me on the cell to ask how Im doing.
I do appreciate that dad !
    Stay safe out there!

Reminds me of what a pain it was getting through Dover! I drove one of the early Volvo F10's PWM 111T for Wallmans Transport subbing for Cave Wood International. Memories!

Ahhh! The days when we were all comrades! You broke down/blowout etc someone would stop and offer help or a flask! Nowadays they accelerate and see how close they can get without taking your fxxxxxx mirrors off.

    Topfilmpje,goede music👍👍👍👍👍

In those days the gov'ner used to give you a plastic bank bag with 10p coins in it,about say £3 or £5 in shrapnel, a load, and away you went, deliver it,you may,or may not get return load,or,a pick up ref: number and off you went to get it,then find a phone box and give them a call, and the number of the phone box so they could call you back on,or tell you to park up and call in the morning. In my cab i had,Double duvet folded over,2 pillows, spare sleeping bag,(my old green maggot from my Army day's) enough rations to last at least a week, plus diggers various, spare clothes,socks,pants,T-shirts,track suit top and bottoms,2 pairs of,in reserve, set of smart gear for going out in?boot brushes and kiwi polish, when you were on a night out, 2 pairs of boots, a pair of wellies, Boiler suit, water 5 gallons,in reserve, under the bottom bunk, plus 5 gallons for brewing up with, about 20 pot noodles various flavours, the CB radio,a box of cassette tapes,.....................so for me it was not just a job,it was a way of life. Today there are individuals who are called planners? Most of whom do not even have a HGV license, and can tell you that on the map it is only 5" (Legend says 1" = 100 miles????? or a wee bit less?) they have got a tracker on the vehicle so they can even phone you up and ask you "Why did you go around the round about twice? and you should have turned right a mile back? "well Jim lad, road works at the r/a,and diversion a mile back, doesn't the map tell you that" I wish it was the late 70's early 80's again.........................not the same anymore..

Ford transcontinental...Mercedes 330..man, 320.then 142 for my European tour,....I stayed in the UK when an illegal immigrantt started to cost me £2500..I wonder how many drivers gave it up after that...I believe the driver shortage has never recovered since...and all the csc card bollox is the way the UK taxes it's working drivers..twice,....road pricing will be next.....that's why they have done away with the window tax disc.

+Craig Giffard... Know the feeling did everything by the book but they still got in, I was lucky as it worked out for me and they were only in the trailer for about 90 mins...Yet the immigrants are not the main problem today, it's eastern drivers earning about a quarter of what we get paid...Every parking area in Europe is full of them, and they have become an absolute menace for western drivers...They eat in the cab as they cant afford to eat in the restaurants, and now a lot of the old truck stops are closing as the western drivers are being let go, and being replaced by these pirates...
