I'll be getting one of these soon, for working on cars in my garage. I might make a water box with sprayers in it at the exhaust exit. So I don't pollute on my neighbours.

I have a similar fan but a smaller version. It works well. It was made to bring air into tight or confined spaces.

You would be better turning it around so that the fan is in the garden and the ducting is at the door . That way you don’t damage your hearing from the noise of the fan

You would lose exhaust power running a hose to extract dust/fumes
@@bee2333 I can tell you from experience two things. Firstly due to back pressure the extract fan looses nearly 50% efficiency when it’s trying to push the air down the pipe vs pulling the air. Secondly if your not going to seal the room like this video most of the air being pulled in through that fan will be clean air from around the door not dust from the other side of the room.
For best result you either need to run the ducting from the other end of the room so the fresh air is drawn in through the open door and down to the furthest corner of the room. And the dust is then pulled out!
Or the open door need to be sealed off with some sheeting and the ducting poking through a small hole to make the whole room what’s called ‘negative pressure’
This video actually has the worst of all possible setups, wrong setup of fan to ducting and the system setup in the wrong position. I would be surprised if it shifting any dust at all.

So what if you put the fan blowing out the other end away from the house? You'll still be getting the same amount of suction but now you'll have no fan motor noise. Just a thought. 🖖
I’m doing a project now. In my opinion, it’s better if you have the fan inside. I see a different in extracting dust. Yes I have to deal with the noise but I prefer to remove the particles from my house. Thanks for your input.

I see your logic, but having the fan blowing out that door without sealing up the rest of the door basically defeats the purpose. It sort of works, but the issue is that without sealing up the rest of the door, you get a lot of back-flow through the open door space. As a result, the fan ends up pushing a lot of fresh outdoor air back outside, instead of pulling all inside air, out. You need to seal up that doorway with plastic, or cardboard, or some such, such that the recirculation of outside air doesn't happen. It's the classic pot smoker's fan problem, just in a different context.

I don't think you're correct about this. Unless there is a strong wind blowing air back towards the house, the amount of dust exiting the exhaust (which is 5 meters away) and going back into the house is very very small. Furthermore, most of the small amount of dust that somehow gets back in the house is going to be immediately shot back out by the fan. Rather than sealing up the entire door, the most effective thing to do would be open a window or door on the other side of the house so that minimal airflow back into the house from the fan side would occur.
how about if you put the machine in the middle of the room ???

@@DIYRAY I had the duct installed like you and felt strong air coming from other end (duct). Is it really the wrong way? Most pics online show duct installed "behind" the power switch no in front like you & I.
