It’s interesting seeing this game running in what appears to be an entirely new engine. So much is familiar, but it feels like the difference between a grainy old photo of an old man in his youth next to a modern hi-res photo of his grandson who looks almost exactly like he did at his age. The screen resolution is dramatically increased, as are the texture resolutions, the frame rate is now 60+, slowdown at certain parts is gone, and it’s now widescreen instead of 4x3. Make no mistake, it’s clearly the same game, but reborn.
@@artemuswithauYeah that's exactly it, it's a trick I learned when trying to get all medals as a kid and while I'm out of practice in scoring it's something that's stuck with me ever since.

@@Trojan711 Thank you! @@dirkdex That's because by default the right stick is mapped to the C buttons, and C-up toggles the cockpit view. I'd recommend mapping it to up on the Dpad so it's out of the way.
@ Sorry, I’m so confused looking at the mapping config. I’d love to see an option for cockpit view, but of course that’s not listed anywhere. Can you explain exactly what I’m clicking on and changing again so cockpit view doesn’t conflict?
The controller settings lists buttons on the N64 controller as what you're mapping, not actions in the game. In this case, you're looking for C-Up, which is yellow colored and is what enables cockpit view. It then lists Keyboard mapping in brown, then controller mapping in either blue or red. Click on the input that matches your controller and press D-Pad Up (or whatever button you feel is out of the way). I'd also recommend playing in Training Mode as a way to test inputs, though do note that the tutorial will list inputs for the N64 controller.
From my experience, 16:9 didn't seem to break the game *too* badly, but I can definitely see a lot more in all-range mode than I could with just 4:3. I don't dare mess around with ultrawide (mostly considering I don't have that kind of monitor), but I'm going to guess that will utterly demolish on-rails stages.
I personally feel like Star Fox 64 is the kind of game that’s best stuck to either 4:3 or 16:9 in terms of screen size. The resolution of the graphics are debatable for this port, but at the very least the port should have the option to enable the uncompressed character voices from the Nintendo gigaleak as a feature without mods.

great job. I hope some hero who add the 3DS textures
I believe it won't be long.
I liked the 3DS remake but the art style of the original is unmatched.
Thank you devs.
How fun to know that I am not the only one who does this: 7:28
muy buen trabajo, es un de mis juegos favoritos, espero que implementen mod para mejorar los gráficos, felicitaciones
oh wow that's some serious refresh and relosution where do I get this
Check the description for the link to Starship, though you're on your own as far as getting the ROMs.
There seem to be a few kinks in this port.
Notably, the charged shot's lack of lock-on and sound.
It's version 1.0 released _yesterday_ (12/22/2024) so I imagine stuff like that is getting worked on.
Can confirm the lock-on and beeps work fine, I think they're just aiming at the environment for extra points per kill.

Thats just the player doing it, cause if you kill enemies with the Splash damage of the charged shot you get +1 for each
estoy tan acostumbrado a ver el juego con bajo fps que se me hace raro verlo tan fluido jajaja

I'd love to see the same with SNES Starfox.
Sorry - can someone tell me what key do I press to hide the menu bar at the top of the screen?
You should be able to hide it by pressing F1.

Have joystick support or not jet? THIS IS OZOM!!!
You can mod it to detect any controler, or just use any program to remap the joy cons as a keyboard and play
Widescreen looks like it sort of breaks the game but curious to hear what people think about that?
