He quickly became one of my favorite weight loss experts. I literally signed my father in law up to work with him because I trust him that much. He is badass.
I had papillary thyroid cancer and they removedhalf my thyroid (right side) a year ago, im gaining alot of weight was woundering can i take it . im on 88mcg of levothyroxine daily. i seem to always be hungry now
Exactly. I live in the UK and they'll only give you this if you've already got type 2 diabetes but I thought prevention was better than the cure? Obesity is the 2 second biggest cause of death outside of smoking ad yet even though obesity is apparently costing the NHS "£6 billion annually" this drug is just for the people who are already in trouble at the moment.
@@matthewtalbot-paine7977 No not really but think of how many fat people used to be around a hundred years ago. We do it to ourselves. It’s not easy I just realized I’ve gotten too big again so rather than buying a new shirt size or pants size I started fasting and cut out all junk food sugar pop etc. more cardio. I struggled being fat as a kid I know what it’s like . But people need to quit pretending like they can’t help but be fat.
I’ve been on Mounjaro for about 4 months now…I’ve lost 26 lbs. up to that I had tried it all. Keto even stopped working for weight loss for me. It’s strange because I stalled on MJ, but stopped working out and started loosing again. It’s just not black and white for everyone. This med has taken away entirely my sweet tooth. I don’t want wine anymore, and it has stopped the food noise in my head. I literally don’t think about food anymore. I’m thankful for this medication.
My Doc wants me to think about trying this, since nothing seems to keep working for me either. Got my a1c down but weight loss stalled..on keto and intermitting fasting. But I fear taking this because of cost and my NAFL.
This med has stopped all cravings and reduced my hunger I’ve been on this for 3 months and lost 40lbs. One thing being on this my skin has dried out and I have to drink more water which I find hard to do on this med. Being 58yrs old this is the easiest weight loss I have ever had. The 1st month I had a lot of belching but that went away.
Funny that you say that, I completely lost my sweet tooth, too. Chocolate only tastes acceptable if it’s dark as the night and almost without any sugar in it.
I had a gastric sleeve in 2016 and was very successful. I had a lower bmi so I went to Mexico for the surgery. So glad I did the service was incredible. Fast forward to 2020. I actually did not regain in 2020. It happened towards the end of 2021 and slowly kept up. I just turned 50 so lots of that was menopause related. I was having serious hot flashes unless I was fasting. The hot flashes vanished with fasting. During this period of time it became incredibly difficult to take the weight off even with whole foods. I've been a Thomas folkower for the past 7 years so I had nailed my diet and knew what worked. I started a semaglutide compound as a self pay August 10th, 2022 and it was miraculous. I am planning to take this forever at a maintenance dose. It also has increased my memory ten fold. I feel unstoppable. My body composition also changed for the better in a way weight-loss and exercise did not give me in the past. My doctor said he only has success stories.
I’ve been on semiglutide for 12 weeks. I’ve lost 30lbs and it’s come off pretty slow and steady. I loved wine, drank it all the time at least one glass a night. Once I started taking semiglutide I couldn’t even sip on it anymore. It helped me to be sober for 10 weeks. That was the best part of taking this. I’m going to stop for a while, I’ll see what happens. I’m hoping all the good habits I pick up help me to continue.
I started Ozempic over a year ago to bring down my blood sugar. My A1C came down (from 11 to 7) but I didn’t lose any weight. Once they bumped me up to 1mg injection, I started losing a modest amount of weight but what DID happen was I lost so much muscle mass, I was basically a limp noodle and had to go through physical therapy to get some muscle back. No one told me I had to eat more protein. Or Ihad to work out more. Walking isn’t cutting it.
@@jayknight139 aaaand this is why i opted to not take this medication. I have trouble going to the gym. Im not setting myself up for failure by losing muscle mass or by being forced to do something that I have trouble doing in the first place.
I see this ALOT with everyone that goes on Ozempic.. I’ve had so many clients come into my program where they have lost muscle mass and we have to start with a very tailored nutritional protocol that drives up protein synthesis in the body to reverse the damage this drug has done in the body. So sad!!
I’ve been on Mounjaro three months and lost 23 lbs. My blood sugar is much better. During this third month I’ve noticed I’ve lost cravings for foods even that I used to love. I feel full a long time after I eat. The draw back is that while I’ve always been very regular with bowl movements I sometimes go several days before having one which can make you feel bloated, etc. I take a scoop of fiber every morning and I’ve included a tbsp of Miralax, plus increasing my water which seems to be helping with regularity. I work out lifting weights with a little cardio five days a week now as well. I’m really excited about getting healthy and this medication has really helped.
UPDATE: I’ve now lost 45 pounds while taking Mounjaro. My A1C is 5.0. My blood sugar is completely controlled. I don’t want to discount that I’ve kept up the five days a week of lifting weights with a little slow state cardio but not more than about 15-20 minutes of walking on the treadmill. I’m very motivated to continue being compliant.
@@jaboutt currently maintaining at 10mg but I probably would be ok at 7.5. At present my PCP wants to stay at 10 as long as fsbs stay in the appropriate range. On 10/31/22 8.3 was my A1C. It’s currently 5.0. I really don’t crave sweets now. I get full fairly fast too. I just came back from a cruise and I didn’t really eat much and lost three more pounds. So down 48 lbs. I was 229 and I’m now 181. I’m happy with the weight loss but I really just wanted to get healthy. My feet were burning and that has pretty much stopped. I don’t have to take the gabapentin at night anymore. Again I don’t want to discount the exercise that’s definitely helping. I hope with the diet change I’m not on this shot forever.
@@Marrissawms I started 10/29/22. I did two months at 2.5, then 5.0 one month, 7.5 one month and this month I’m on 10mg for my second month and we’re staying at this dose per my PCP.
I was prescribed Ozempic when I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. It made me sick with nausea and stomach pain. I quit after 2 injections of the lowest dose and did not lose bodyfat. I went lo carb, lost 57 lbs, normalized my blood sugar from a1c 11.8 to 5.3, lowered triglycerides, normalized fatty liver, reversed kidney failure.
@@lr6477 The doctor's first action was to prescribe drugs. I tried it and it made me ill. I was very motivated to achieve a healthy blood sugar and went low carb which not only lowered my a1c but also had a positive effect on other organs and bodyfat. Initially there is withdrawal from sugars and carbs but it was easier than the pain of the drugs and the scary consequences of the disease. In that sense it was easy. Also after getting past that withdrawal period, the carb cravings lessen. There are still social pressures but again the consequences of uncontrolled diabetes include blindness, loss of limbs, and death. That is quite a motivator. Easy?
I take it for weight loss. Most people I know take it for weightloss only. It’s been fabulous. No nausea. I do get fatigue. My doses were increased slowly and I don’t plan on getting off it as i see obesity as a chronic illness that requires long term treatment.
Obesity is not a chronic Illness what the hell. It’s hard work but very simple less calories more moving around and you will look the way people did hundred years ago before we became lazy couch potatoes. Addiction can be taken away but you got to really want it and possibly hit rock bottom. Jesus can cure gluttony.
I am interested in weight loss applications as well. I am interested in hearing about whether it works long term I've read lots of messages about people losing 30ish pounds in a few months but then I can't find anyone saying they've been on it for a year or so. So if possible could you tell us how long have you been on it and how much you have lost? I also think obesity is a chronic illness and I want to see if the £200 a month it costs privately is worth it which it would be if I could get down to even the overweight class of bmi.
I've been on mounjaro since January 17th, at the 7.5 mg level right now. Im doing intermittent fasting eating window 11-3. I eat mostly fiber plant based foods with low sodium. The mounjaro is fantastic at taking the food chatter out of my head. Down 30 pounds. I think it's a fantastic drug for people who have struggled trying everything else. The word "game changer" is a perfect word..
That’s my birthday! I’m on 10mg, started 11/4 and today hit 50lbs down! I’m begging my insurance to cover it because my bloodwork is incredible compared to what it was at 243lbs.
Good info. I have an incredible amount of info on this. Real quick summary. Retired bodybuilder at the pro level that still trains. Developed Type 2 from multiple reasons. Brutal getting my A1C down. Couldn’t get past 9 with insulin and a solid diet. Started trulicity and it got it down into the 5s. Doc was in shock. My resting pulse started to be higher, so we switched after a year to Rybelsus. My A1C is floating in the low 6s now. Trulicity definitely worked for A1C. Body fat is probably around 12 percent. I eat a bit more don’t like getting too lean for my training. Joints hurt at my age from the weights if too lean. 2 years on this now. Hope this helps some people.
Hello. I am interested in learning how you developed type 2 diabetes? I am also a bodybuilder and ever since i got shredded for the first time two years ago my hunger and food cravings have been all over the place.
Apple cider vinegar mandatory for stomach issues 2 or 3 x a day, completely zero SWEET tooth , down 26 lbs- I’ve never had satiety in my life until my first shot.
I've been on Monjarou for the last 9 months and am down 101 lbs so far. A lot of the weight loss was fat but I also lost a significant amount of lean mass. When I went off of Monjarou for 3 months (due to a shortage - unavailable at every local pharmacy) I regained about 16 lbs over a 3 month period. The weight loss resumed the moment I went back on the drug. I dont know if this helps anyone else but I did Carnivore / Keto for the first 60 lbs, and 1300 calories a day for the second 40.
Tomorrow will be my 3rd week and I am 22 lbs down. I am iF for 16-24 hrs sometimes and eating one huge meal but now I am learning that it’s not going to work to OMAD because I need to increase my protein! I don’t want to lose my muscle just fat. I am scared to move up to a bigger dose.
Been taking ozempic for years T2 diabetes works great Past 2 years added keto works well with it Much better results blood sugar control I was never overweight Run about 115 lbs to 120 But a1c has come down to 5.1 5.4
I'm on Semaglutidefor about a month now and am just on the .25 dose. 15 pounds down. I had a few days of nausea from the first two injections but none since. I'm going up to .5 next week. I've made my schedule for the gym, incorporating new diet strategies as well even though I wasn't bad in the first place, but I find that things that I did enjoy, I can't go near now. If I can hit my goal I plan on staying on it for a year to two to really make some lifestyle changes stick, then ease off and see what happens. I also have lipedema, and to my once very athletic and active self, it's an insult. I'm finding that very few people know or understand the condition or give more than a nod to it unless they actually struggle with it themselves.
I had a partial hysterectomy i was keto for a long time even went Alittle higher on my carbs but still lower carb. And I was so stuck for a long time Ozempic here and down another 42lbs im thankful for it. I was truly stuck even eating healthy. I haven't changed anything and losing again. Other then smaller portions
Same here, had a hysterectomy and I'm not young anymore. Always struggled with weight and a low metabolism, but after the hysterectomy it got so much worse. I had been on keto for a couple years, don't eat sweets and keep my carbs down (not much of a sweet eater anyway). Only eat once a day and keep that to regular portions. I eat less a day than "skinny" people typically eat. Go to the gym typically 4 to 5 days a week and do strength and cardio workouts. Couldn't drop the extra weight. Started the injections and have been losing weight. I've changed NOTHING else. I still go to the gym, same workouts. Still just one moderate, low carb meal a day. But NOW I'm losing weight. I assume the hormonal change from the hysterectomy, combined with age I'm sure just made my already low metabolism hit record lows. Regardless, I'm finally seeing results for all the effort I've been putting it, thanks to the peptide.
At 50, I found myself being 30-40 lbs overweight. I have been thin my entire life and couldn’t stand the extra weight. I eat super healthy. Don’t even go out to restaurants because of the bad oils they use. I was so depressed and frustrated. I lost 5 lbs with the first shot of generic semaglutide. 3lbs the 2nd week. It has helped me with cravings. I am feeling hopeful now. I have insulin resistance and nothing helped me lose weight. This is a miracle. I am eating more protein every 2-4 hours, VERY Small portions, like two egg whites, or 3 slices of turkey and ipI feel full. Also, I increased my water intake to half of my body weight.
aahhhh there you see!, make note people, he says "I increased my water intake to half my body weight" well, drinking a lot of water makes you lose weight too. How do you know this drugs making you pass a lot of water isn't just what's going on? Why on earth would you take drugs when all you have to do is drink water. Beware of big pharma, read ....6 things big pharma doesn't want you to know , by doctors without borders.
As we get older, our metabolism slows down and have a tendency to gain weight. Besides trying to maintain a healthy diet by taking dietary supplements only, you must exercise as well, to help burn off the excess fat and calories. You don't positively know If those supplements will have any negative side effects down the road or not. You just can't take everything that advertised online and on the market as fat burners, especially if they're not FDA approved. You'll have to be extremely cautious of what you're putting inside your body. You'll be playing Russian Roulette with your life! I don't if your active and if not, but a person just can't sit around and do nothing and expect to lose weight and stay in good health. To help lose weight, you must keep yourself active and if you don't, not only you'll gain weight, but you'll start having other medical issues in the body by being inactive and not getting enough exercise. Walking and cycling are very good to lose weight and for cardio exercises. A person doesn't have to pay to join a fitness program at the gym to exercise. That's a waste of money! You can walk and ride a bicycle around the neighborhood or on a bike trail as long as you want for free.
I am the in same boat actually. I had 2 back to back pregnancies since I faced stillbirth with the first one. So depression and severe gestational diabetes caused me to gain weight tremendously. I had been on insulin 4 times a day (short acting 3 times and long acting 1 time) around 50 units (which is very high). Now I can't seem to loose weight, my second baby is now turning 2 and I am stuck with diastasis recti + 20kg of extra weight. I have developed arthritis even with that much weight since my body is not used to being overweight.
I love my doctor for working to get me on this. She knows how much I I've been trying. Pre 2021 I did excellent and keto was my answer!!! But I've been slacking my keto since being hospitalized. Covid. They didn't exactly support ketogenic diet during my stay so I was without a single healthy fat to eat.
My mother just had to get her gallbladder taken out and has been very sick with constant vomiting. She's been taking Ozempic strictly for weight loss as she's not a diabetic. I was suspicious the semaglutide might be responsible for her cholecystitis and after watching this video I'm definitely leaning towards that.
Intermittent Fasting seeks to lower insulin levels to stop the body from storing fat. But GLP1s stimulate the pancreas to increase insulin 2 or 3 times. How can both work for weight loss of they do the opposite?
I am at the 4th month mark of Semiglutide (the generic made in a compound pharmacy and nit takrn from the Ozempic inventory). I lost 19 pounds from 232 to 211 so far. I am 5 8 so another 50 pounds to go. I am doing this through my functioal medicine doctor ( Forum Health clinics). Paid a bit more at my first visit and after that 400 dollars for each vile (lasts for 2 to 3 months)./i have health coaches visit that suports with food choises and also with thendisage going slowly up.
I’ve been on it for a month, and it’s doing exactly what I need. IMO it should be used as a tool towards lifestyle changes. I had no idea how bad my cravings(food noise) was until it was gone. Now I feel like I can focus on getting healthy vs combating myself
Thank you for covering this, My Dr just started me on wegovy because im 325 and i really want to get to 200 but the weight loss is really kicking my butt.
I took ozempic samples that my Dr. gave me for one month (and it was even low dose .5) I’ve been 6’ 310 borderline type 2 my entire life. I’ve always worked out an hour five days a week. I’m a home builder so I do heavy physical labor all day. I’ve had high blood pressure for 10 years. After 1 month I lost 28 pounds, nearly quit drinking alcohol (no desire), had no desire to eat junk food or snack at convenience stores, portion control came naturally, my cardio workout ease and intensity improved over 25%, my blood pressure dropped from 170/95 to 119/76, and I felt better than I ever have in my entire life. My Dr. Was thrilled and gave me an ozempic prescription and said we will now try quitting the blood pressure meds and keep working out. Then my insurance company (Avera Health…. Also the medical provider) said I cannot have any Ozempic. 🤬🤬🤬😡. I guess since the insurance company is also the medical provider they know they need fat unhealthy people with heart problems to make a profit. So I guess I’m not one of the chosen who gets the privilege of health treatment.
I was just thinking…other companies will not be happy about this miracle drug. It will help many get healthy and they won’t need other prescriptions. Hopefully your body got used to feeling that way when you were using the samples & you continue on your journey without needing more ozempic. My dr prescribed and of course, insurance denied. Been border type 2 for years. Had generational diabetes a year ago & diabetes runs heavily on both sides of my family.
I was just diagnosed with Type 2. This is NASTY stuff -- I had to quit after 6 weeks on the lowest dose. It made me simultaneously weak, nauseous, dizzy, and constipated! I am currently bedridden waiting for this med to wear off.
Lost 25 lbs on keto and resistance exercises but weight loss stalled for several months probably because exercise was causing my appetite to skyrocket. Got on semaglutide and started losing again. After 3 months I started reducing my dosage from 40 mil to 10 and it continued to work just as well. Have lost another 25 lbs in 8 months. This saved a lot of money doing this! Will reduce my dosage to 05 mil next week until I’m out. If I ever start adding weight on again I will get back on at a low dose. Hopefully exercise and Keto will manage my weight. I think you must get on healthy diet and exercise before going on semaglutide!
Thank you thank you ! So relieved that you are open to talking with someone like thjs Dr about this big subject. So many questions answered today. I fight uphill with my weight and believe this is just one tool that can help so many people. Love your channel
Great talk! I had VSG in 2015. Gained all weight plus more back. Hit near 400 pounds. Started using Compound Tirzepatide 7/1. I am down 70 pounds and finally starting to feel better. This medication is saving my life. The food noise is just about gone. It's still there but is able to handled. I do high protein, pretty low carb. Stay away from bread and sugar, sodas, etc. It's all working. I also gave quite a cardiac problems and I've had no problem. There are great studies on the benefits of glp1's and cardiac health protection. Also liver health. I wish the drs would also promote compound pharmacies. Some of us have insurance that will not cover name brand so we have to go the route of tele health and compounding pharmacies. Just get with a good company.
Lol Dr. Kyle Gillett is the one that prescribed me semaglutide over a year ago and it was already expensive back then. Now that it’s hitting mainstream media, I can’t even imagine how much it’ll cost now. Good thing I got it early.
I just got it today but my insurance cover cuz I'm having some higt blood sugar they said im diabetic but its just starting if my insurance will not cover it will cost me 550 usd for a pack or 4.
I was prescribed this but after reading about the potential thyroid side effects, I decided not to take it. Weight loss is soooo slow though, it's tempting.
Weight loss is supposed to be slow. Keep up with healthy eating. You don't need drugs, just go with your gut. I have it in my fridge right now but after two months on keto, I finally lost 9 pounds just this week. You have to heal your body and then weight loss will happen. Focus on health. The rest will come.
Me too. My sister had thyroid cancer and when I read about the thyroid cancer issue it was a no. Slowly will keep it off.3/5 years from now the thyroid, pancreatitis issues will be some issues.
For what it is worth the medullary thyroid cancer was only in rat models and has not been seen in humans. Hundreds of thousands of people have been taking these peptides and haven't had cancer. The bigger issue is a lot of people take these peptides and continue their bad diet and then gain the weight back. Must prioritize protein and weight lifting. The video should have focused more on these issues.
I accidentally agreed to take this. After 2 successful months on Carnivore diet, I was doing very well. Now my success is attributed to Semaglutide, but not my effort. When I have used it up, have I learned the skill sets to control my weight? It is expensive, so I guess I'll use it up and hope that my eating and exercise habits are favorable to maintaining the weight loss.
Today I really gained some good knowledge my doctor prescribed Ozempic and I was afraid to use it be since you explained everything you made it easy to get started thank you Dr. Kyle Gillette and Thomas DeLauer.
Thanks for this video. My doctor just prescribed this medication to help me with these last 50lbs that just will not go anywhere despite exercise, diet etc.
Clarity please Thomas DeLauer : I am taking Viktosa injection for weight loss. Week 1 I was taking (1st recommended) 0.6 dose : I lost 2.7 kgs Amazing. Week 2 - I am taking 1.2 dose as recommended but have not lost weight. I eat low carb (last 10 years) , healthy eating (LC veges protein), I am not hungry, I feel light headed taking injections, (my blood pressure is fine, no meds). I am in calorie deficit, gym 3 times a week, 67. 5’3”. 75 kgs ideal 60 kgs. I track my ketones with Acetrack monitor and am in light ketosis most of the time (I believe I am fat adapted), I get higher readings when I work out hard. Question: should I go back to original dose? Or continue increasing next week to 1.8 (as prescribed?)
Thomas DeLauer has been one of those individuals that I have come to trust when it comes to nutrition and wellness. I am interested on getting started on Tirzepatide and have been watching a lot of other videos and none of them are as complete as this one is. This information is priceless. Dr. Gillette provides in this 26 minutes video more information than I have been able to obtain in hours of watching other professionals and aficionados on this matter. Way to go @ThomasDeLauer! Please continue to bring this type of information to us, I bet that I am not the only one who sees you as the BOMB DIGGITY GURU of wellness! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
My doctor told me that I should start to consider surgery. My blood pressure was high and normally between 138 and 148 regularly. I have heard a lot of people would rebound after the surgeries so I wanted to fix my mentality before even thinking about surgery. I signed up for noom and it was not doing it for me but it gave me a lot of info about low calorie and high volume eating. I kept that in mind when I made the decision to start on Mounjaro. In January I started at 498lbs, I was not taking it seriously at first eating whatever I wanted. After a month and 10lbs lost I saw a glimmer of hope. I thought if I lost so much just eating what I wanted, what would happen if I took it seriously. I watched a lot of Huberman lab and it inspired me to change my life style, I took his advice on a lot of things and started doing intermittent fasting. After 30lbs on fasting I was hooked. In the past month I have been doing a lot of research on keto and although I still eat carbs I keep it low carb and high volume and if its keto friendly food or meal I just go with that. Once my hunger started going away I was able to move my fasting from 12 hours a day to 14 and right now between 16 and 18 hours. I started exercising 3 to 4 times a week and upped my protein but I was staying around the same weight for a month. I finally broke that wall after I reduced my protein. I keep my calorie intake below 1600 calories. I am currently at 430LBS and honestly I cannot be thankful enough for Mounjaro. I am also thankful for the information I have learned from Thomas DeLauer and Andrew Huberman.
I have tried so many diets in my lifetime. Keto was the most effective but difficult to stay on long-term. Even with keto I still had cravings occasionally. Been on Semaglutide for five weeks and I’m down 20 pounds. I have no desire for sweets. Yes I still get hungry and when I do, I eat, but the binge eating has stopped. Not because of being full, but my brain is no longer triggering me to think about food all the time. I used to eat ice cream daily if not several times a day but in the last five weeks, I’ve only had it once and to be honest, I could have done without it. But also it’s doing something within the brain and the receptors to turn off impulsive thoughts. I truly believe this is helping some psychological issues and chemistry issues within the brain. I think in the future, it will be used for more things than just weight loss and diabetes. Cannot imagine going back to what I used to be and hiding to eat my ice cream, cakes, and whole boxes of cookies.. this drug has fixed something and I’m not sure how or why
@@sheridixon190 alpha yohimbine. It works, but be careful as like all supplements the market is filled with worthless crap. I would say go to Gorilla Mind as your best bet if you want to try.
Loved last question. Borderline prediabetic. On two meds that cause high blood sugar and diabetes. But no negotiable. CGM and glucometer. Underweight by dexa. But docs suggest semaglutide for stabilization of arterial plaque. Weighing risks and benefits.
i like to increase GLP-1 long term with the right fiber. a cabbage soup with added ground meet works best for me so far. an oatmeal also works but comes with a lot of carbs too. i stumbled upon a broccoli soup recipe that contains wheat bran too which has an insane amount of fiber. i have to try that as well. but regarding the cabbage soup i also like the effect on PYY additionally to GLP-1 which lowers hunger a lot
Its more for food addicted people like me... It helps stop the impulse of overeating. It makes you feel fuller quicker. It also almost makes you feel backed up so you won't want to eat.
I have Diabetes 2 as well and was prescribed Trulicity two weeks ago-- the lowest dose for six weeks and then my doctor and I will review and increase the dose if needed. I believe in being your own advocate in medical care, and my doctor agrees and welcomes it. He also teaches other doctors at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. While I usually monitor my diabetes by diet, diet slone has not been enough the past year or so. It's been going up. My A1C hit 7.1 (plus the fact that I recently hit 300lbs) and my doctor thought this might be a good solution-- two birds, one stone. Two weeks in, I'm feeling better; have lost 10 lbs; removed certain carbohydrates, added sugars, and processed foods from my diet; started walking more (I'm nearly 51 with arthritis in my knees and back, so... baby steps are STILL progress; I hope/plan to work up to 10k steps a day), and am starting Variable Resistance Training (X3 Bar) this week. Plus, I'm watching Thomas' and a few others (Will Tennyson, Stan Browney, Sean Nalewanyj, Doctor Mike, Dr. Boz) for fitness and nutritional information to make better food choices, aim for better overall health. Would I call my diet Keto-esque? I dunno. I'm focusing more on protein, good fats, and less carbs... natural, not overly-processed foods. I don't know how to go full Keto yet; still learning. Being disabled, limited income, I can't toss out / donate everything in my pantry and fridge. I have to be able to eat and replenish my pantries with better food choices. But being on Trulicity and feeling better.... I'm hopeful. I was starting to forget what that felt like.
I take issue, at least for myself; I’m taking Mounjaro specifically to treat my type 2 diabetes, which I’ve had for 30 years. I’d been struggling more than ever before trying to keep my BG levels down, and my hbA1c levels were at the highest they’d ever been. So, my Dr. informed me about Mounjaro & prescribed it for me. The $$ has been extremely high as my insurance has not covered anything toward this prescription, so it’s been strictly out-of-pocket cost for me. Also, the people taking these types of medication off label for weight loss have also caused shortages and I’ve had difficulty filling the prescriptions because of this. There is currently a shortage of the 7.5 strength, and this is not expected to be alleviated by the manufacturer, Eli Lily, for several month out. This is really frustrating and aggravating to me!! So, please acknowledge that this is a valid medication for use with Type 2 diabetics. I’m on my 4th month now, and my labs have already improved greatly. I’ll find out my most recent A1C tomorrow!
Hi, you seem to be a bit uneducated. There are two medication created by Ozempic one is called waggery, which is specifically prescribed for weight loss as far as the shortage goes since we live in a capitalistic society. It’s safe to say if they got this medication FDA approved. Then they understood what the demand would be, and are choosing not to create more of it in order to hike up the prices. Sorry that you are forced to pay out-of-pocket for this medication though. That definitely sucks.
I started on Manjuro and now my insurance will pay so I am switching to Ozempic. I weighed 436 October 2022 when I started I weigh 348 now! Can you give me some tips to continue to lose when I am switch in two weeks? Thanks

I’ve been it for 5 weeks now . I’m trying to stay positive. I do walk at work . I’m just wondering why nobody post anything about being on Ozempic and working 3rd shift. I'm on Wegovy. I'm on the 1.0 dose. My only side effect has been some acid reflux. I've lost around 20 pounds. Was 380, now 359. I feel a lot better already. I feel very full the first two days after a dose and then my appetite comes back slowly till my next dose. It feels like a miracle drug.
I had try everything in the book I exercise 6 days a week eat a clean diet I'm 5'1 173 pounds I been stuck on the same weight for months I started semaglutide with b12 and finally I started loosing weight again my first week 2 pounds I don't have much to go 28 pounds also I'm 56 years old so it makes it harder hopefully ill reach my goal weight by my 57 birthday April 22
I’ve been on ozempic for almost a year (until insurance stopped paying) and only lost 28 lbs- it was incredible for sugar cravings, but have had major muscle loss- so it’s not a miracle thing AT all
As usual... GREAT and CURRENT content Thomas!... Well done. Data driven and not theatrical like all the other Sema You Tube videos. 👍 ... Also a Data Proven Benefit that you did not discuss is the positive impact on those patients using a Sema that are addicted to numerous mental addictions... Alcohol, and Opioids most common... but also other. VERY Smart discussion. Thanks
I think there is a very strong case for semaglutide for bulimics/binge eaters. I have been bulimic for 10 years and the smallest dose of semaglutide really heped free me from my cravings. Shame I have had to get it "off label" since I am not overweight.
Metformin It's bad for the kidneys. I took for a year to test and it lowered my a1c but rose my glucose and threw off some of my numbers on blood test. I even took b12 and one other it depletes you off. And I always felt terrible at night after taking.
Diabetic Type2 65yrs old Did loose weight on it ladt year I'm in Australia When it wasn't available last yr Due to over demand All tht horrible fluid loss of sleep Loss of energy I'm back on it & find it easier to control my eating Intermittent fasting coming of carbhydrates suger for long long periods Of time🦄🦋🦄
Let's be clear... when we say "it CAN lead to this" it tends to mean that it does happen in most people, however most take years to show negative effects, but just because you don't see or feel the negative effects does not mean they are not taking place
Something is not adding up. Fasting and Keto diets help you lose weight by lowering insulin, (the fat storage hormone) GLP 1s stimulate the pancreas to release more insulin (2-3x) . How can lowering and increasing insulin both lead to weight loss?
If you are diabetic and have high blood sugar levels then this is something you are going to want to take. Right now I take metformin and it is not doing the greatest at lowering my blood sugar levels. I have done keto and intermittent fasting and I still struggle with high blood sugar levels. They go down but not enough to be considered normal. Now someone who is taking this strictly for just weight loss then definitely there may be problems in the future as you have stated. So definitely use caution.
Are there natural glp1s? It may not be same dosage but anything that helps give a bit of a edge if you are tracking calories and exercising regularly to stay/lean out ‘a little’
Isn’t it important to start at a very low dose to decrease the side effects ? Dr Tyna Moore talks about how most MDS are starting people at very high doses and that is why we see a lot of the major side effects. She talks about micro dosing ( and cycling)is helpful for most people. It’s a hormone like BHRT and slow and steady would be great for patients.
This was a very good video so far. Im looking at the semaglutide peptide. I was morbidly obese but with keto, intermittent fasting, and creatine monohydrate +HMB and weight training, im down to 182 pounds from 260 in 6 months. But I am knocking on a 6 packs abs front door right now and I'm wondering if a month of ozempic is the key to the city and final boss for me while pushing 110% at the gym. 😅
I have no idea what he was talking about but I have to say vitamin d seems to be pretty fantastic with studies showing reductions in people with pre diabetes getting diabetes, people who are veterans having reduced numbers of suicides, and reductions in the number of dementia patients when taken by people at 60 till 75.
Thomas, a conversation about semaglutide, about GLP-1 agonists, without bringing up a natural GLP-1 agonist like berberine- this does a disservice to your viewers. You don't have to be a berberine cheerleader like Mutzel or Berg. Huberman isn't afraid to broach the topic, offering the caveat that it gives him a headache. Completely ignoring it, though... I get why you've avoided the topic in the past, but that was then, and this is now. It's time to get your head out of the sand. No matter which way you cut it, good, bad or indifferent, berberine is an important topic.
Would glp-1 agonist be helpful to those with Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver NAFLD? Are there protective or negative effects on the liver when using these types of medications? What mechanisms are involved when insulin resistant or diabetics with NAFLD use glp-1 antagonists?
look at the SUSTAIN-6 trial for semaglutide. weight loss was on average about 9 lbs over the space of a year as opposed to 2 lbs for placebo. They also don't mention in the study the lifestyle changes and how they were applied to each group. sounds like a lot of hooplah over nuthin
Okay so you seem to be about right although it was 2 years. Here's the problem though. In this study they were giving them 0.5-1mg of semaglutide where as if you get prescribed this it will be starting off at 3mg then moving to 7mg then 14mg. You are comparing the effects of different dosages and saying the weight loss is poor using a trial that was intended to see outcomes relating to health not weight loss. Now do I know whether this works? Absolutely not.
@@matthewtalbot-paine7977 they're the ones quoting sustain-6 as the basis for this being a weight loss thingy. Just drinking water can make you lose what they saw in sustain-6. everyone is saying just just gain the weight back after stop taking it too. people complain of dehydration, they're not drinking enough water to keep up with the losses. maybe could just drink the water and skip the jab
Because of family history of thyroid and pancreatic cancer, I’m not a candidate to use the meds like ozempic and Mounjaro. What about taking DHEA along with DIM?
Hey man, question. Massive weight loss via diet restriction has been shown to create havoc on the body's hormones - drop in insulin, cortisol spikes, spikes in SHGB, decreased sex hormones, etc...all of which can affect skin health, hair loss etc. Lots of negative short term affects of severe diets. My question is: has semaglutide bypassed these negative hormone affects? If so, this might be a huge benefit instead of severe dieting.
yes according to physiology and cellular biochemistry a healthy body with minimal pathologic derrangements shd adjust well to the reset in some months any compromising effects shd not be taken as bad side effects because none of us are living as we shd be in compliance with nature and circadian rhythm which means we consider a paricular " effect" as undesirable whereas it is very natural physiological response and hence favourable
Please share what pharmacological aids can help with coming off these medications. I would like to talk with my doctor about these medications/supplements. I’ve started the process of weaning off Mounjaro. I did 3 months up to 7.5 and now working back down to 2.5 before stopping completely. I fast and eat low carb. I’m concerned about regaining the weight I’ve lost and would very much like a plan in place to help me continue to obtain/maintain a healthy weight.
It’s all about how you eat and your physical activity. No medication or supplements are miracle workers. They are a tool to help you get started but it’s all about lifestyle changes. You won’t gain the weight back if you made an attempt to makes lifestyle changes in your diet and exercise regimen.
how do we know the long term effects of your stomach not releasing digested foods? there are no studies on what happens when you stop taking it, do you gain it all back and more?
In the video, he said, most people gained the weight back And that’s why it’s important to use it as a crutch, while you learn how to practice intuitive

Even better is to eat less and move more.
@@Richie_Alpha_Rabbit69 yes but also there is a reason dieting rarely works. You don't think just every single fat person is just lazy.

Same here. It's the first time in my life I don't constantly dwell on food and sweets.
My doctor prescribed it but my insurance won’t cover it, and it’s like $1500 without it.

I am interested in weight loss applications as well. I am interested in hearing about whether it works long term I've read lots of messages about people losing 30ish pounds in a few months but then I can't find anyone saying they've been on it for a year or so. So if possible could you tell us how long have you been on it and how much you have lost? When I went off of Monjarou for 3 months (due to a shortage - unavailable at every local pharmacy) I regained about 16 lbs over a 3 month period. The weight loss resumed the moment I went back on the drug. I dont know if this helps anyone else but I did Carnivore / Keto for the first 60 lbs, and 1300 calories a day for the second 40.

In 3 weeks I have lost 10 pounds. Very happy with the results. Don't eat after 5PM. And I'm not hungry during the evening.

Other then smaller portions
So really also altered calorie balance with the glp1
You can walk and ride a bicycle around the neighborhood or on a bike trail as long as you want for free.
can you please share where you got your semaglutide from. thank you
I am the in same boat actually.

You are exactly right. they want us to be sick and have health problems. thats how they make $$ - sad
Ask your physician to find a compounding pharmacy
You can increase GLP 1 by drinking Yerba mate. Of course it will be much lower than the drug levels but wouldn’t hurt to add that.
Took it for three weeks. Migraine every week, and constipation to the point I was in pain. But my wife does amazing on her.
This guy was my doc at Marek Health. He was awesome. Sad that he left.
Glad I could help, definitely enjoyed my time there! Thank you for kind comment ❤
@@lay_luh22 how long will a pack of four last you?
I have been waiting on you to produce this video on Semaglutide!! 🙌
I was prescribed this but after reading about the potential thyroid side effects, I decided not to take it. Weight loss is soooo slow though, it's tempting.
I think you see more people complaining rather than the 1000s who have very few symptoms.
Give it a go it's been a miracle
Weight loss is supposed to be slow. Keep up with healthy eating. You don't need drugs, just go with your gut. I have it in my fridge right now but after two months on keto, I finally lost 9 pounds just this week. You have to heal your body and then weight loss will happen. Focus on health. The rest will come.
Me too. My sister had thyroid cancer and when I read about the thyroid cancer issue it was a no. Slowly will keep it off.3/5 years from now the thyroid, pancreatitis issues will be some issues.
My doctor told me this is a super rare thyroid cancer that is genetic
14:19, what is he saying? Raoulcine? Raulcine? I can't make it out and the CC isn't helping.
I believe Rauwolscine
I think rauwolscine

@@sheridixon190 alpha yohimbine. It works, but be careful as like all supplements the market is filled with worthless crap. I would say go to Gorilla Mind as your best bet if you want to try.
Loved last question. Borderline prediabetic. On two meds that cause high blood sugar and diabetes. But no negotiable. CGM and glucometer. Underweight by dexa. But docs suggest semaglutide for stabilization of arterial plaque. Weighing risks and benefits.
I love this man. So good at explaining mechanisms and facts.
i like to increase GLP-1 long term with the right fiber. a cabbage soup with added ground meet works best for me so far. an oatmeal also works but comes with a lot of carbs too.
i stumbled upon a broccoli soup recipe that contains wheat bran too which has an insane amount of fiber. i have to try that as well.
but regarding the cabbage soup i also like the effect on PYY additionally to GLP-1 which lowers hunger a lot
OMG with such fiber , I can’t imagine the fart 😂I will stick with GLP-1
Informative video. Thanks. But how is this different from just normal caloric restricting diet ? If all this does is suppressing appetite
I'd really like to know this too 👍
Its more for food addicted people like me... It helps stop the impulse of overeating. It makes you feel fuller quicker. It also almost makes you feel backed up so you won't want to eat.
The stomach is nit getting empty as fast so less appettite
There is currently a shortage of the 7.5 strength, and this is not expected to be alleviated by the manufacturer,
Eli Lily, for several month out.
'waggery' ?? Are you referring to Wegovy?@@imjustezzy2076
I started on Manjuro and now my insurance will pay so I am switching to Ozempic. I weighed 436 October 2022 when I started I weigh 348 now! Can you give me some tips to continue to lose when I am switch in two weeks? Thanks
Wow, you lost over 100 pounds in less than 6 months!!! Congratulations 🎊 You are doing amazing!!

Your doing great. Keep up your good work. When you switch to Ozempic great luck. I’m a type 2 diabetic and I’m on Ozempic. I weigh 210 lbs. so far no weight loss that I can see.
Type two is super easy to reverse with diet and correct protocols, so why would we use Semaglutide for Type 2 diabetes with all the risks?
What appetite suppressant was Dr. Gillette talking about around the 14:20 mark?
Rauwolscine. Available from gorilla mind, code jacob if you want to get it at discount.
Rauwolscine! Took a while to decipher, but I finally found it.
Thank you! I had the same question!!
Hey Thomas what about metformin for non diabetics for weight loss... benifits and side effects... effect of metformin on intermittent fasting?
Please make a video on this
Jardiance is safer than this drug he's discussing.
Metformin It's bad for the kidneys. I took for a year to test and it lowered my a1c but rose my glucose and threw off some of my numbers on blood test. I even took b12 and one other it depletes you off. And I always felt terrible at night after taking.
Dr mentioned a natural appetite suppressant but I don’t know how to spell it & the transcription stops prior. Sounds like Realci?
"Rauwolscine" (Alpha-Yohimbine).
What was the name of the appetite suppressant that he mentioned? I heard Rousin but nothing with that name came up.
If anyone finds out let us know! Please.

This guy is very smart and knowledgeable.
Correct something is not adding up. I was looking into this but my gut feeling tells me no. That would lead to insulin resistance in the long run...
What does he say at 14:20 - something to shut down the appetite - sounds like Raoul seed?
I believe Rauwolscine
@@gad3iii532 thanks
You mentioned supplements what are your suggestions for while on and then once off Semaglutide?
Yes interested in this as well
I have no idea what he was talking about but I have to say vitamin d seems to be pretty fantastic with studies showing reductions in people with pre diabetes getting diabetes, people who are veterans having reduced numbers of suicides, and reductions in the number of dementia patients when taken by people at 60 till 75.
"Rauwolscine" (Alpha-Yohimbine).
Ask about metformin
@@Jj_86 no blood glucose issues. Insulin resistance? Yes. Which is odd because my fasting and non fasting BG readings are perfect.
Great interview/video Thomas and Dr. Gillette very interesting I enjoyed learning more 👍
Buddy knows his stuff and was great. Did you give him a coffee? Seems like he had a long day to get there.
No, you will still have the side effects of an extreme caloric deficit on this drug besides the hunger.
@@tophergaming9656 That's kind of what I intuitively thought. Does your body still experience the stress of a caloric deficiency?
yes according to physiology and cellular biochemistry
a healthy body with minimal pathologic derrangements shd adjust well to the reset in some months
any compromising effects shd not be taken as bad side effects because none of us are living as we shd be in compliance with nature and circadian rhythm which means we consider a paricular " effect" as undesirable whereas it is very natural physiological response and hence favourable
Please share what pharmacological aids can help with coming off these medications.
I would like to talk with my doctor about these medications/supplements.

I can't believe he didn't explain this smh

how do we know the long term effects of your stomach not releasing digested foods? there are no studies on what happens when you stop taking it, do you gain it all back and more?
In the video, he said, most people gained the weight back And that’s why it’s important to use it as a crutch, while you learn how to practice intuitive
