I suffer from chronic pain. When I was stateside i suffered at the hands of the US medical system, and was in a wheelchair most of the time, while taking 8 pills of various meds per day. We moved overseas, where the local doctor looked at my meds, stopped them all, and put me on a single pill per day, yes, it's an opiod, but a 24 hour release pill. Now I walk with a cane. Sure, i am still disabled, but I have better control of my pain, and fewer bad days. The US medical system came close to killing me. The thing is, we are now in our 3rd overseas country, and the US is the only one that gave me inappropriate care, forced me to have inappropriate procedures, and refused to treat me with respect.. JMHO
search out "Carnviore diet" = a very healing diet for all health issues including chronic pain. Start w/ ch Dr ken berry, homestead how, no carb life, dr chaffee & more. Take care.
I am happy to hear that you are doing better and longer having to take 8 pills that were unhelpful. What is the name of the opioid that you are taking now?
I disagree - the medical profession here is run by pill companies and insurance. Doctors are generally under a lot of pressure to perform. SO are nurses and staff. We absolutely have to change this system.
Healthcare is now nothing more than corporations limiting their docs and serves to run a profit. Healthcare should NEVER be part of capitalism. People suffer and people die all in the name of profit over people.
I read the latest Matthew Perry autobiography just before he died. His alcoholism and drug addiction were so profoundly severe. The diversion of a Ketamine for him to use at home by a paid employee could have only ended with his death. Its so sad. He was a good man.
@@psychonautgrlI think it is necessary. We are all flawed but we don’t all die from drug abuse. It’s an honest and still endearing statement which doesn’t take away from his dignity. I’m a recovering addict myself and it is a major flaw. Ignoring it doesn’t help anyone.
Well, I left a good comment here that TH-cam deleted! I hate that! Yes! It’s heartbreaking & horrifying! Thank you for this info, Dr. Kaveh. 🙏🏼 I appreciate your ethics & that you really care about those you treat & help all of us watching your channel! 🙏🏼

It's so true that our emotional and physical pain is linked. I don't know why we are built to suffer so much in this life. Without it, though, I never would have become the empathetic bad ass that I am. My suffering has taught me so much.
❤😊 well said! I don't know why we suffer either, but it is the one thing we all have in common, we suffer, deeply...it's all connected...your mind, emotions, affect your physical body and vice - versa, and either can be too much to bear without empathetic bad asses like you in this tough old world! Got to say though...having known emotional pain, mental anguish- and have had constant severe physical pain, spine, nerve damage, for more than 3 decades-take the physical pain over the emotional/ mental pain, hands down...had a schizophrenic mother, I don't know anyone who suffered more...suffering has taught me Compassion...once I left bitterness behind...empathetic bad ass- I just love that! ❤
We did not evolve to be satisfied and happy. We evolved to struggle and survive and pass on our genes. Happiness is just a lucky byproduct that we only get on occasion. Trying for constant happiness is a recipe for huge problems.
I was eager to hear your opinions on this death. I have chronic pain from scoliosis, and I think I am living with some buried childhood trauma. The overreaction to the opioid crisis has made proper pain management difficult to get. I can only hope that Perry's death will not cause a similar chilling effect on ketamine and its proper uses.
Thank you, Dr Kaveh, for unpacking this tragedy. Matthew was a human being who, as you so aptly noted, was suffering emotionally and physically. His physicians and staff betrayed him. And mocked his trauma, which is so unethical. Appreciate your factual and compassionate overview. Utter disregard for his life and criminal charges are warranted imho.
I was being treated by my psychiatrist with Spravato (Esketamine) for CPTSD/MDD. With each additional Tx my b/p went from 100/60s (baseline) to my last session when initial reading was 180/122. Dr said take a Klonipin and proceed. Result…heart attack. Be cautious!!
I understand very well your perspective. A well-meaning psychiatrist prescribed a drug that did NOT mention in the small print (I read it, being competently treated for ADHD) that it was physically addictive. Against his advice, I went through the withdrawal. The next dose he prescribed had paper with the small print mentioning addiction. My psychiatrist realized my words were true; the medicine NOT only didn't work, but the pharmaceutical company had neglected to finish their trials.
@@hathortheshapeshifter Klonopin helps me with my anxiety - when I remember to take it. It's addictive too if you follow the doctor's orders. Be well, friend.
@@sealyoness, Klonopin is one of the hardest drugs to withdraw from. I'd stop taking it regularly, for sure. ALL these drugs have issues. Get off of what you can.
Big hugs. Hope you are doing okay now. ALL drugs have side effects - then they give another drug for the side effect - and on and on it goes. RATHER, our system should help treat the CAUSE of our issues.
I do remember that story about the kids who were trapped in that tunnel (in Asia) requiring a pretty long underwater swim, one at a time, with rescue divers . I understand that they were afraid that the kids might freak out during that SCUBA extraction.
Yes, that was such a intense situation. I knew they were sedated to be taken out, but I had no idea it was with ketamine and I'd never have even imagine that. Very interesting.
@@DeltaDawn22 Thank you! Cave in Northern Thailand in 2018, sudden downpour of rain came and flooded the cave where they were exploring. Amazing all 13 made it out alive. Think they are 3 movies on it including one from Ron Howard.
Ketamine is wonderful medication when it’s used appropriately. Ketamine can treat depression, induce general anesthesia and is great for acute pain in surgery patients. I have administered ketamine to patients requiring awake intubations . Perry’s doctors were functioning as drug dealers.
It is so sad what happened. Reminds me of the Michael Jackson case. The texts calling Perry a moron makes me sick. It is so sad that they saw his dollar signs and didn't want to help him. You know when I heard about the ketamine, I remembered that you use it for patients and I knew you would say something about what happened. I wish more doctors were like you and cared about patients. There are zero ethics here just abuse of a patient and looking to make a quick buck. They all need to go to jail forever.
I’m suffering terrible pain, with a terminal illness , so what are we patients supposed to do, and who do we believe, I suffer PTSD, Poor Mathew, Poor us , the patient,
I’ve had almost all my major joints replaced due to autoimmune disease. I am in pain all day every day. 6 out of 10. Opioids are the only thing that helps me. However I only take 1 or 2 a day maximum and only if I’m really suffering. I’ve had doctors refuse to give/renew Percocet because of the way their hands are tied. When it happens, I suffer. Sometimes severely. I was an RN for 33 years but MS took away my ability to work. And for the last 3 years wound up in a wheelchair. I read about ketamine for pain. I went to the local clinic. I did 6 doses. Once a week for 6 weeks. I no longer am in a wheelchair. Ketamine saved my life because I didn’t want a life in a wheelchair. Ty so much for all your education. You’re very personable, funny, intelligent. Ty Ty Ty.
In my opinion the doctors need to be charged. He should have been sent to a psychiatrist rather than a medical doctor that just gave him for lack of a better term drugs.
How many more psychologists, psychiatrists, internal medicine specialists should he have seen, four goodness sake??????? He NEVER stopped using. Period.
Thank you! I fell twice early this year. Before I fell I was very fit and had no pain despite having degeneration in my spine and arthritis (I’m in my 60s). The first fall was on ice. I landed on my hip and got a bad bruise. The second fall broke both ankles (one minor one more seriously). I landed on concrete on my back. Since recovering from the broken ankles I have a lot of pain, especially at night (sciatica and other pain in my legs). I was prescribed Naproxen and Gabapentin. It helped but didn’t stop the pain. As soon as I finished the 4 weeks of treatment the pain returned. I have an appointment with the doctor this week. What I keep saying to my husband is that I want a diagnosis. I want to know why I have the pain. I don’t want to take Gabapentin or whatever the rest of my life unless that truly is the only option. Basically what you said! You empowered me with this video and your other video to advocate for myself and make sure I get every test possible to know what’s going on. My doctor is very good and really listens so I do have hope. Thanks again.
Thank you for your willingness to acknowledge that some doctors have done a bad job. There are many doctors who seem to think it’s a mortal sin to criticize other doctors, no matter how serious the problems.
Its a sad day when genuine pain patients resort to less than ideal sources for their needs in order to function - I understand everyones sentiments in this area.
Hi, been thinking about that. There is a Clinic near me. It’s scary to me, but , it’s interesting. Is that safe?? I’m depressed all the time, nervous, etc.
Uggg... I am on that pain train. I am a 57 year old 100% Disabled USMC Desert Storm/Shield Veteran with Osteoarthritis in every joint, Pinched nerves and Bone Spurs, in my lumbar, mid and Cervical spine, and also in my hands and wrist and in my ankles and feet. I get an epidural nerve block in my spine every three or four months and I am on Gabapentin, but I am still in pain 24/7. My VA doctors will not prescribe any opioids at all because of the regulations they put in place in the early 2010's from the opioid problem with the VA. I also have other comorbidities, like Hypertension, Aortic Dissection/Aneurysm, HIV, and Combat related PTSD, so that also plays a part in it. I wish my state of Georgia would legalize weed! Weed is likely the safest pain medication I can take with all of my conditions, and I know for a fact that it actually works for my pain. I can have a few puffs at a party and go pain free for at least three days.
We have a tiny bit of legalization which I only know because a friend uses it for a rare condition but when my husband had cancer and asked the oncologist about it the oncologist told him it was best if he found himself a dealer. That shows how hard it is to get.
I'm in Maryland, and yes, it was legalized almost a year ago. But, there are different types for pain and such, that you cannot get, unless you have Physician Approval which the State Receives, and then, a Specialist with the State Approves your ability to have it, and how much you can purchase in a month. Some you can only buy with the licensing. The 'Dispensary' has people there, who go over your symptoms, and advises on what type you should get. It can seem confusing, but it really isn't. For me, the issue is that, what really works is not always available, due to that particular 'weed, or gummy' not available from the Grower. But, the people in The Dispensary help you choose another, that they think is comparable. They also have your past purchases, and what you need them for....like pain, nausea, anxiety, insomnia...as well as why you don't want certain types. For me...I don't want something that makes me so high, that it almost actually gives me panic attacks. Everyone has different needs and reactions...and these people know their 'stuff'. The Dispensary has a separate room that is similar to a Pharmacy. And you 'do' need to yearly, have the States Approval, which is easy, as The approving Physician can meet with you online, to ask if anything has changed in your health, and if you are getting relief...then they send whatever is needed, to the State Commission. None of this is as complicated as it sounds. Georgia does not even allow 'Medical Marijuana' ? If not, Have you heard anything about changes in legalization for Medical Needs? I know this was long, but at first, I was really overwhelmed, when told what was needed to obtain the Approval License. But, the Commission is really good with helping you know what you need to do, and what Doctor's approve. All you need to do, is call, and they take care of the authorization process, and getting the ok from your PCP. I hope you can get relief soon. GOD Bless 🌹
@@alexacarrillo4339... It isn't hard at all. My Doctor tried to talk me into it for three years, and I was not able to even think about what all needed to be done, until my pain was so bad, pain Medication wasn't helping, and I didn't want anything that would knock me out. When I decided that I really needed something for the pain, and everything that comes with chronic pain, I told my PCP that I would try it. All he had to do on his part, was to sign whatever he was sent from the Commission, and why you need it Other than that, He gave me the phone number to call, and told me which Doctors in my area were licensed to give Medical Approval to The State. You don't have to go anywhere, as it is done by phone. When you contact The Commission in your area, they e-mail, the forms you have to fill out, which is much easier than filling out New Patient Info., when seeing a New Doctor. When you have your Medical Online appt., they tell you if you are approved, which they already know, by the Info. You had filled out, and the Okay from your PCP. They give you an Authorization number to use, until your License Card comes in the mail. It seems like an ordeal, but they do all of the work. I hope this helps, in case you need it for other reasons...and I hope your husband stays clear of cancer. I understand the toll it takes, and The Oncologist should have been more clear. You don't need a "dealer" The Dispensary is like going to the pharmacy, and asking for a recommendation for your needs. These people are not Dealers. They are trained in ways that Dealers would never be able to do. And the Marijuana they have, is licensed from Growers who have the license for what they grow, and what purpose it's for. GOD Bless, and I hope all is clear for you both 🌹
@@lauriekurad Georgia has Medical Marijuana, but it is restricted to less than ,5% THC and less than 20oz a month. It is also restricted to only certain medical conditions, most of which are end stage diseases, which makes it almost impossible to get. There has been a surge in CBD based on Hemp, which is legal federally (federally, there are no restrictions on hemp based products). It's mostly Delta-8 CBD. But the Georgia Republican legislation recently passed a law banning Delta-8, so they can go after all of the smoke shops that sell it.
I am so glad that you decided to record this video. I figured you would be giving your take given this being within your field of expertise. I found the pricing difference between doctors and the non-medical drug dealers to be interesting. Are vials of ketamine relatively cheap to authorized physicians using it lawfully? Why did one doctor need to go to another doctor to get his supply? Wouldn’t Dr. P be able to obtain the ketamine vials directly?
Unfortunately, there are few doctors like you. I'm so glad I found your channel. The way you present things is amazing. Thank you from a retired nurse from Pittsburgh, PA.
Thank you! I could not agree more! I'm not a doctor but a Registered Nurse and being a medical professional I'm sickened that these doctors gave Matthew Perry such a powerful and dangerous drug. Especially when used by NON professionals! I hope they lose their license to practice.
I'm a type 1 diabetic so insulin dependent. I was in the hospital and although my records stated I was allergic to a type of insulin they had and insisted I take. I asked for an endocrinologist to see me. I explained the situation and asked them to get a vial of the correct kind from a local pharmacy. He told me to use what they had and I'd be alright. I refused. My tongue swells from the kind they had available. He told me to not take any insulin then and I told him my glucose would be very high if I didn't and I didn't want to feel sick for hours. I had brought my own insulin and told him if they couldn't get someone to go to a pharmacy to get a vial I'd use my own. He told me I wasn't allowed to use my own. I told him to leave my room and not return. Yes, I injected my own insulin and the nurses knew I had (as they asked.) You absolutely must stand up for yourself! Never give in if you feel the treatment is incorrect/harmful to you.
So messed up. I feel like the medical system is filled with humans who act like cruel robots… especially in hospitals. Not all of them, but I’m assuming the kind and competent ones are getting burnt out faster.
Well, I’m so glad you broke this case down…..where we can all understand. The PROBLEM: Greed, unchecked GREED!!!! Mr Perry was very wealthy, so these extraordinary corrupt individuals, took advantage of his addictions, until, if KILLED HIM!!!!!!!! So incredibly sad! 😢🥺😞
Being a squeaky wheel gives you a bad reputation, no matter how careful you are not to raise your voice. This year I was SEVERELY HARMED by the War on Pain Patients. It gave doctors an excuse to expel and abuse me. A doctor forced me off Percocet cold turkey and I ended up in the hospital with hyponatremia. Three days after I got out of the hospital, she cut my Seroquel in half. When I asked her what I should do if I ran into problems, she stuck her nose in the air and said, "Are you questioning my judgment?" Shortly after, she tried to cut my clonazepam by 75%, which likely would have killed me. She was only ONE of the doctors who hurt me. On purpose. They have a narrative going that I "harass and threaten" staff. It's utter nonsense, but they have all the power. So, now my pain is out of control, and I have no way to address my health problems. I'll NEVER trust the "health" "care" industry again. I want to rid my body of all the toxic chemicals foisted upon me and stay away from doctors as much as possible.
They are cruel and get on a high horse after being indoctrinated into Federal policy changes. They seem like cold hearted sheep. Some get very defensive indeed.
You need to get physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, etc. Your pain and psychiatric meds being cut are causing you withdrawal symptoms, which are harming you, and this is not being addressed. Your “harassing and threatening” behavior is a symptom. They should recognize that.
Doctor hold the power over patients. I am a chronic pain patient caused by botched surgery. I've been cut of my pain medication so my alternative is death. I can't take the pain anymore.
This is truly sad and accountability is needed. However, I wonder how many "regular" people die like this and it's never investigated to the degree that a celebrity is. Most of those deaths would be labled as overdose and done with. We all make choices and decisions regarding our lives. Sometimes money makes those choices easier. Trajic for everyone involved.
I never heard "voice cries from the grave." Yes. So many. So many. Thank you. Can you believe this? "Dr. Pepper," and they are each only 1/5 responsible. As a student of mine once said about the Kitty Genovese story in the sixties after I said "They each could sleep, as each was only about 1/32 guilty. One young man said: "Yes, but they're each guilty." This is how I see it now. No one called the police (NYC) and they each heard her screams. (Teachers learn SO much from students.)
Same here... it's a horrible situation to be in. I take opiods and regular non opiods, daily to manage my chronic pain. Whenever I've had to have emergency surgeries, the short-term supposedly pain meds given to me following surgery have very little to no effect.. This is a bad place to be in. I simply want regular pain meds to work on me when I need it. I have a feeling that my body has somehow become resistant to pain meds.. and as a result, I have to double up on my dose to get any pain relief. This really scares me.. 😮
@missyme2673 I understand how you feel. I hate that I have to take opiods daily just to function. I gave myself so much Advil that I wound up with bleeding stomach ulcers and was told by my GI doctor that now I can no longer take even a Baby Aspirin. The meds I take used to allow me to function, work, and enjoy things like hiking, bike riding, swimming, kayaking and cross country skiing. After someone ran their car into mine and caused so many injuries as well as a severe concussion, I haven't been able to work or do any of the above sports for enjoyment. That was 6 yrs ago. Even though my pain meds had to be increased I still can't do any of the things that I enjoyed. I have pain everyday. All my GP worries about is losing his license. I cannot afford to continue living where I do because it's too expensive so I bought a tiny house and need to relocate out of state. I am so worried that I won't be able to find a doctor who will take me as a patient and prescribe me the meds I need.......I am actually terrified of that because if I don't I will have to move back up north. Wish you best of health. Please wish me the same.
Have you tried Kratom? Don’t get me wrong, it can be potentially really addicting as it releases essentially the same chemicals in the brain. It is less regulated and you have to be careful of what brand you get it from because there can be heavy metals in some. There are companies which test for them too. Also, look into tumeric and ginger! I got this fermented kind where I put it in warm to hot water, and it’s great for inflammation and pain. I also add some juice from a lemon in there as well. It’s delicious.
Yes my daughter was extremely awful pain with stage 4 cervical cancer she only got just a few pain pills that gave her only a couple of days . I find the fact that your daughter endured intractable pain due to cancer inexcusable . Sickens me to the core. There is ZERO reason for your precious daughter to have suffered. So deeply sorry and may God give you all of His love and comfort 🙏🏻
When I had to have a Cardiac Stress Test for surgical clearance, I told them I didn't know if I could do it with my back issues, they wanted me to try so I did. After 15 minutes and nearly in tears from pain they stopped me, not because of pain but my heart rate wouldn't go high enough 😯🤔 So they decided to chemically induce. Shocking, actually considering being overweight and haven't been able to do anything vigorous in a few years. But it wouldn't go high enough 😊

When you get all your teeth ripped out at the dentist and you can’t even get 1 Vicodin is beyond bad medical care I can’t even begin getting into. I was working at the dentist for a couple years and how the dentist would not give any pain killers except Tylenol and ibuprofen because that was supposed to be just as effective as low doses as of Vicodin or codeine it just pissed me off seeing people in so much pain that could have been easily prevented. I mean that’s one of the most painful things in life and that doctors can refuse to treat you is so just cruel and unusual. It’s not like you keep going back to get them at a dentist office.
No, but some go buy them on the street. It amazes me how little most people understand about addiction. Sometimes all it takes is 1 go and boom, you are no longer making the choice whether or not to take more.
I cant get the prescriptions i need anymore due to folks lije these people. I have had RA since i was 17. Im 48 now. Ive had 8 joints reconstructed, i still have two ruptured disks in my back. There was one doctor in my rural area that i went to for 15 years. I followed a pain contract diligently. But those meds allowed me to work jobs that i lived that allowed my to stay stronger and exercise. My doctor retired. I haven't been able to find a doctor in this region willing to treat both my ra and pain. I can only afford to see one doctor every month. So it jas to be for the RA.and they refuse to treat the pain. So now im not able to exercise, im stick to a desk, and thats horrible for my RA. I hate to say it, but i absolutely do blame these addicts that cant deal with life as it is for making my life more difficult and more painful. Some say the doctors. But if people werent always trying for the high, there wouldn't be doctors over prescribing them. I liked matthew Perry, but the folks like him are selfish sobs for making it harder for folks like myself to get the medications that allow us to live productive lives. Idk. Maybe he did have the sort of pain that i feel every day with every step? If so, then i understand. If not, well he was fortunate to not have had pain with his addiction and i do know that addiction causes pain. But its not the same as when your own cells attack and actively kill your bone and tendons cells.
Hi there. I also have had long-term chronic pain for 20 plus years, and more recently, for the past six to 10 years, I've had joint pains, too. It took my doctors until only last year to diagnose me with RA, and I out-right said no more pain meds, please! So they put me on medication to treat my RA only.. is that an option that perhaps you might benefit from? I'm sorry, I don't know how to medical/insurance system works in the States, as I'm in the UK. Like this, Dr. said, I truly believe that doctors need to look at treating the cause of pain and not just throwing a bunch of painkillers at the problem, hoping that one will work! Please don't give up, and I know it's hard, especially when you're always in pain, but you have to advocate for yourself. And for people like us with RA, a desk job is probably the worst thing for it! It made my pain so bad, and it also, over the years, pulled some of my bones out of their natural alignment. I also recently discovered that I have two crushed vertebrae in my neck, trapping a nerve down my arm! Please look after yourself, sending you much love from me in the UK. Please feel free to get back in touch if you'd like! 😊
@@redchic but we don't know everyone's story. Some people get addicted to things innocently. A car accident, surgery, etc., that they honestly need the meds for. Previously some doctors were over prescribing, leaving a legitimate patient with legitimate need, very addicted. I don't have personal experience, but I've heard opiate addiction is very difficult. It's like your story, had you not explained, it wouldn't be right for me to judge if you should be taking what you do or if your pain is real. I think most addicts will say they need it, the pain is real.
I understand how you're feeling. I feel the same way. I feel like due to people who are addicted you are automatically considered a potential problem instead of a person who really needs help with chronic pain. That being said, I don't judge anybody and I feel bad for addicted people and their families

I have PTSD from a monster who gave me "something" that kept me awake, but unable to move, couldn't scream, couldn't run, couldn't fight back. It was supposed to be MOHS surgery BUT IT WAS NOT. He got on top of me - broke my nose, got a concussion, I got MRSA, and to make matters worse, he never biopsied the area he TORE off my face. The insurance company hailed this idiot a hero, saying "Thank God, he got it all". HTF can they know if there was no biopsy?
To me, Hot Tubs are a “ Petri Dish “…. So many germs to begin with.. I feel so sad for this wonderful Actor and Gentleman. Yes, please do more of these stories to help us understand how an opioid death happens. Thank you Dr. K.
You are amazing. You make me think of "The Good Doctor" and his intelligence about anything related to morphology and the way the body works. It is so profound. So entertaining and informative! Thank you❤
My last two surgeries I told the doctor that I have PTSD and he said what can I do for you and I said you need to play this album animals in Death Metal and my heart rate stayed the same throughout the entire process I woke up my blood pressure was the same that was one of the best things so please tell your doctor if you have PTSD before you have surgery I can't express how much it helped me when I went under
That's the coolest anxiety remedy I've ever heard of-- I knew listening to music is good for depression, but had no idea it was strong enough to keep calm during before or during surgery. That's such an incredibly anxious time--glad the doctors were willing!
🌷You have no idea how glad i am to hear a medical doctor talk about not just treating variable symptoms, (21:21 ) but to find out what the ‘root’ cause is underneath those symptoms. You don’t hear this very often. Thank you so much for stating this! :) 🌷🌱
Hey Doc, first off I wanna say.... I love how rational and down to earth you are !!! That's extremely rare these days, most doctors at least seem to be, hard headed, irrational and set in their ways, it's beyond refreshing to listen to you speak on these subjects and seeing these kind of cases from all angles. I agree these people being charged, sound like total jerks, to put it in PG wording. But at same time, bottom line.... It was nobody but Matthew Perry's (and everyone else who OD's) fault, nobody put a gun to his head and made him start using, or ultimately stick a needle in his body, which was the end of his using, or anywhere in-between, it was all him. I started using I.V heroin when I was 19 and I'm 46 now, I don't blame anybody but myself, sure there were people who influenced me, had I not been hanging out with, I likely never would have started, or relapsed, etc, but still whatever the case.... My fault period !!! After spending a lot of time behind bar's, here in Southern California due to my addiction, I've seen many things I can't un-see, lot's of violence, being involved in riot's, sleepless nights, hurting my family (emotionally) which weighs heavily on my conscience these days, I have some big time PTSD and social anxiety, sleep issues, etc. I wish sooooo bad that I could talk to you and see what you think. Anyheewww..... To end this, despite the fact these people being charged sound like total jackwads, I think it's each and every addict's decision to start and continue using drugs, let's keep the long harsh prison sentences to the child molesters, rapist's, murderers, violent criminals and such !!! Drug's and what a person CHOOSES to do to their OWN body, should be a fundamental right we are all born with. As long as you aren't out hurting other people to maintain a habit, breaking into houses, cars, carjacking, robbing banks, so on and so forth, prison shouldn't be in the equation, in the long run, does more harm than good, I'm a perfect example of that !!!! Thanks for being you and unintentionally being my TH-cam therapist !!! 😋❤️💛💚
Keep in mind, no one is charged with murdering him. There are charges for providing ketamine that resulted in a death, but that is not murder. Federal charges are ultra specific, very different from state law.
Oh yeah sorry I got sidetracked, part of the reason I commented in the first place was, I took his assistant saying... "found sweet spot, but used up all the Ketamine doing so" as.... found a good vein. Maybe since Matthew Perry put on quite a bit of weight and had obviously been injecting ketamine, his veins were compromised ?? Just a thought, not even a very important one, at that. For whatever reason, that's what came to mind, for me anyways.

That’s where modern people go for help. These days you can find CBT teletherapy for many, many conditions. As the doctor says, we may not fully understand consciousness, but in the last fifty years we have learned methods that genuinely help. You don’t have to go back 100 years for help, or turn to drugs alone.
I LOVE YOU ! So glad I stumbled across this ! Started watching because I Love Matthew Perry ❤❤❤ To keep it short I adore the comment that “Symptom chasing isn’t Curing” !!!!! Exactly ! Therein lies the problem with most of the medical industrial complex in this country 😢😢😢 IMO
I'm so sad and mad at his medical team, non-medical assistants and his dealer. I hope they get a hefty time behind bars. They all knew he was an addict. Senseless.
I saw how fast ketamine dropped my 1000 pound horse. Its a very scary drug. I saw my 8 yesr old have horrific hallucinations after dental surgery. No one told us what they were giving him or what happened after, a twrrifying experience.
When I broke my arm, the doctor tried to prescribe an opioid for pain, and I said absolutely not. They wound up prescribing a non-opioid pain med, which I took for the first night and one full day following the break; after which I switched to extra strength, Tylenol for two or three days. I rarely take drugs; I prefer holistic remedies. I find that they work best for me.
I do too. Actually, holistic remedies work best for everyone. There are exceptions in very few cases. However, here in the US, every case is treated as severe, and the result is that we have a total disaster on our hands.
It is so AMAZINGLY good to hear from a mainstream HIGHLY trained doctor who isn't blinded by the industry - but actually advocates for the human well-being. My goodness you are rare dear doctor - THANK YOU, you superhero.
As a lay person, it sounds like Perry was struggling with so much inner pain that he may've lashed out at those whom he wanted help from. That may be why the docs called him names. It is hard to believe the personal assistant thought himself capable of administering this kind of medicine. But, it appears the doctors thought it was OK. Sooooo... Maybe this is common in situations were patients have great financial resources?
I recently had surgery and from beginning to end I had a female medical staff. The nurse anesthetist in training was awesome. There was another female nurse anesthetist along with a female anesthesiologist. Obviously all had years of experience and my ENT was female too. Being a retired RN I had to write the hospital to commend what a staff they had. I know how much I appreciated a letter, or a gift, of being recognized doing my job. I was an L&D nurse, btw. So, I want to say, most medical ppl chose the profession to be of service. These doctors, or ppl that chose to sell the ketamine, were purely living a life by greed. That or power, IDK. It baffles me men or woman exist that take an oath and do such harm. Just a senseless death. So sad!
Hello I have complex regional pain syndrome Crps it is the worst pain known to man on the Magellan scale and I was literally a day away from taking my life and I found a ketamine clinic and had a 4 hour treatment and they say there's no cure for CRPS but I am alive! And pain free well not completely but it's so tolerable! They call CRPS the suicide disease because everyone with it takes there life. This could change it! Thank you for this! Thank you 🙏
Doctors need to be protected yet this is the rare example of going over the line. The greatest blame is on Perry whose consumption went beyond that prescribed allegedly. I’m glad there are physicians like this well informed and well intentioned who keep the facts correct so we don’t start having an alleged epidemic. Proper use of medications should be strongly advocated. Your excellent summary discussion about “bad actors” shouldn’t essentially prevent proper administration of medications is THE proper conclusion that Deserves a medical article on this event and why it should not be something used as an excuse for not helping people in need of proper administration.
Not sure you understand the responsibility of a doctor. If they see that a patient is addicted, it’s on them to do something about it to not provide. This dude did not stop providing. And it’s not on Perry bc this is talking about the doctors enabling.
YES, YES, Yes, I'm unfortunately caught up in the opioid control issue. I'm unable to find consistency among the various specialists who are trying to diagnose a chronic hip/spine issue that currently prevents me from walking. A low dose of opioids has allowed me to walk with a cane for 3-4 hours a day (meaning just getting around in my home, not "walks") which could potentially help me get better until someone 'correctly diagnoses my issue. I'm in bed the remainder of every day, not helping my case. In the meantime, my Primary Care doc who was documenting my progress with the use of low-dose opioids, and with a treatment plan, left Sutter Hospital. Now I'm faced with a new Primary doc who doesn't want to prescribe even a low dose because she says she "hasn't got to know me yet"! I also think I might be labeled a drug doc seeker. Over a year without a correct diagnosis which I understand can take time, but the withholding of any relief from pain and not able to walk around even a little, I believe is going backwards!
When my brother was in med school, he told me about med students barking out loud about how they would soon be a M.D., which stood for More Dollars. And laughed.
“It's like penguins. In nature, when one is sick or very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up and walk around until that penguin can walk on its own. And that's kind of what the cast did for me." --Mathew Perry
💜 So many medical providers are prescribing Lyrica, Gabapentin and other anti-seizure medications for chronic pain conditions. Do you think these medications will eventually become a problem?? 💜
I would like to interject a comment here. If you are into science/ cell receptors and current studies showing that for chronic pain such as long Covid, chronic fatigue/ME Dr Jarred Younger is on TH-cam. He also pays to release his studies. What has been found out these last few quick years is that the tiny cells that surround a neuron in our brain or micro glial cells can become out of line. They are the ones that dictate to the neurons certain duties. When they become over active and mischievous they perpetuate pain and along with that pain comes severe fatigue. This happens in our olfactory neurons for smelling and our other senses. So simply perhaps medically telling the pain signals to slow down isn’t the correct approach. My father died of multiple myeloma and was on the highest dose of Gabapentin along with other meds. I asked him if he thought it helped. He said “not at all, not even a little” so we got him off it and he was glad to not feel so slow and a shlue list of other things. Anyways many physicians are paying attention to Dr Younger’s studies because they include Gulf War Illness and immune system disorders. I hope that this comment stays😊
People value / revere physicians as if they were god. Replacing god with obscure human personalities that "do not know nor have moral/ethical beliefs", is a bad doomed business.... Thank you for still being a moral and ethical human, who works as a dr.!
@@IsabelEglitis replacing anything or anyone for Him is a very very bad decision with consequences. As humans we haven’t learned yet that we were never endowed with the ability to rule over others? I came late to this discussion. I was friends with Marcia Moore. She, along with her husband, Howard, wrote a book on their research and use of ketamine called 'Journeys Into the Bright World'. She mysteriously died years later and her body found later. She died of hypothermia after injecting ketamine. She apparently did this often, apparently part of her and her husband's research. She wanted me to try it several times, but I refused. Years later, living in Sedona, AZ, I finally did try it. Twice. Both times were highly hallucinogenic, the second time being over 3 hours long and, in the coming down process, dangerous. Howard was an anesthesiologist who supplied the drug for their "research."
I'm a cancer patient, and have had to halt my therapy (because the medicine causes neuropathy and bone and joint pain, also flares up old injuries), due to doctors being too afraid of the DEA to prescribe more than 50mg/day for the pain. I'm writing this at 6am, after not sleeping from so much pain. I'm hoping to make it until April before taking another break, but it's not looking good. 🤷♀️ I'm almost halfway through the five years that it's recommended for me to take this therapy.
My sincerest condolences may not help your pain. Many of us are in this rotten state 😢but I will remember your name and pray that the needed help from God’s Kingdom will come very very soon. If you are agnostic or atheist I mean no harm. I do care. ❤
JMHO
And a valid opinion. The US medical system is so broken. It's not to make us well but to make consumers for pharmaceuticals.
Which three countries please? Very curious🙂

Medicine in America used to be a noble profession.
It's a business opportunity where many doctors put profits over patients.
Not all....we see an ethical one here.
I disagree - the medical profession here is run by pill companies and insurance. Doctors are generally under a lot of pressure to perform. SO are nurses and staff. We absolutely have to change this system.

I read the latest Matthew Perry autobiography just before he died. His alcoholism and drug addiction were so profoundly severe. The diversion of a Ketamine for him to use at home by a paid employee could have only ended with his death. Its so sad. He was a good man.

We are not built to suffer. It's the choices we make along with those around us that make us suffer.
Same friend, but decided in childhood I'd rather turn the other cheek than become the one that strikes! Steady on 🙏🕊️
Life's what you make it. Always has been, always will be. Keep that in mind at all times. Don't give in. 🙂
Both infuriating and so very sad. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Oh wow mine just gave me klonopin bc Cubans and adderall give me increased anxiety

Yes, that was such a intense situation. I knew they were sedated to be taken out, but I had no idea it was with ketamine and I'd never have even imagine that. Very interesting.

Uggg... I am on that pain train.
All he had to do on his part, was to sign whatever he was sent from the Commission, and why you need it
Other than that, He gave me the phone number to call, and told me which Doctors in my area were licensed to give Medical Approval to The State.

Great video! As always.
Sad. Truly sad. His voice crys from the grave.
Yes, Dawn, so well said.
I see people die every day who didn't have a choice. He had a choice and hundreds of chances but he chose to kill himself. He admitted it in his book.
I couldn't get enough pain medication post-op for severe accute pain, no less for chronic pain.
@@missyme2673 It's as if your becoming tolerant to the pain meds.
@missyme2673
I understand how you feel. I hate that I have to take opiods daily just to function. I gave myself so much Advil
that I wound up with bleeding stomach ulcers and was told by my GI doctor that now I can no longer take even a
Baby Aspirin. The meds I take used to allow me to function, work, and enjoy
things like hiking, bike riding, swimming, kayaking and cross country skiing. After someone ran their car into mine and caused so many injuries as well as a severe
concussion, I haven't been able to
work or do any of the above sports
for enjoyment.
I am so
worried that I won't be able to find a
doctor who will take me as a patient and prescribe me the meds I need.......I am actually terrified of that
because if I don't I will have to move
back up north.
@shayalynn great advice, thank you! 😊
Yes my daughter was extremely awful pain with stage 4 cervical cancer she only got just a few pain pills that gave her only a couple of days . The doctor said her hands were tied
So I had to go to a legal marijuana dispensary to get her pain relief. She did pass in 2020 from her cancer. It was the pain management that needed
After 15 minutes and nearly in tears from pain they stopped me, not because of pain but my heart rate wouldn't go high enough 😯🤔
So they decided to chemically induce.
Shocking, actually considering being overweight and haven't been able to do anything vigorous in a few years. But it wouldn't go high enough 😊
Thank you for this video it's very informative right before my mom died they had my mom on ketamine because she was in such pain bone cancer and first was just to be comfortable Benedict work for her I've had a couple of surgeries and ketamine seemed to work but I cannot take it for pain because it makes my body feel like an elephant has stood on my body I have a bad reaction to it for pain but I can go under I guess it's just their dosage I guess Academy is like the Wonder pain medication for people that are end of life. But I cannot take it with pain because I but I just
How stupid are these criminals to text each other all the evidence that a prosecutor needs in court to show a judge or jury. Wow. It's like they want to go to prison for life. Small time drug dealers are smarter than this.
I'm really glad they were that overconfident. They basically handed the DA a solid case.
Ol Forest Gump would say “stupid is what stupid does” or his mama😊
Exactly!!
No, but some go buy them on the street. It amazes me how little most people understand about addiction. Sometimes all it takes is 1 go and boom, you are no longer making the choice whether or not to take more.
It’s disgusting, he was a sweetheart, im glad that you are speaking up 🙂
I cant get the prescriptions i need anymore due to folks lije these people.
Needed to be said, and feel compassion for all. Best in meaning. 🙏🕊️
@@Aminasacto"Some people get addicted to things innocently" ...?

I hope his family pushes for prison for all involved!!
How sad and horrible yes it breaks my heart too . God bless Matthew . God have mercy on his soul . Sad sad sad .
Thank you for making this TH-cam 👍. I always Loved Matthew Perry and understood his struggle. 😢😢😢
Excellent information 😊
Thank you for your willingness to acknowledge that some doctors have done a bad job. There are many doctors who seem to think it’s a mortal sin to criticize their colleagues, no matter how serious the problems.
Dear God, I'm so sorry you suffered so much under the "care" of someone who is supposed to help. 🫂❤️🩹
This was awesome! Great job explaining what happens with the misuse of this drug. Thank you.
I actually had 10 mg of Ketamine in the ER for my chronic pain issues. I can't even imagine how much was given to kill Matthew Perry:(
To me, Hot Tubs are a “ Petri Dish “…. So many germs to begin with.. I feel so sad for this wonderful Actor and Gentleman.
Yes, please do more of these stories to help us understand how an opioid death happens.
Thank you Dr. K.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to give an insightful perspective from someone that is so knowledgeable on the subject.
You are amazing. You make me think of "The Good Doctor" and his intelligence about anything related to morphology and the way the body works. It is so profound. So entertaining and informative! Thank you❤
M.P. needed a Cardiologist and a Psychologist to address his issues. Not what he got.
I think Spravato should be allowed to be used in ERs for when people come in feeling suicidal. It could really help.
Wait. What? Why?
For whom? Staff or pt? No that is not a needed protocol
I agree about the point you made about pain and the source; etc.
Chopin...Mozart...Bach...uh, yeah - absolutely.
No *Death* Metal!
Careful. The eyes and ears are windows to the soul🎶
I love this channel, so much valuable information thank you!
🌷You have no idea how glad i am to hear a medical doctor talk about not just treating variable symptoms, (21:21 ) but to find out what the ‘root’ cause is underneath those symptoms. You don’t hear this very often. Thank you so much for stating this! :) 🌷🌱
Thank you ❤
Hey Doc, first off I wanna say.... 😋❤️💛💚
I am a new subscriber appreciate the information about Ketamine
Stress induced!! NO blockages, clean arteries. Oh, btw I’m a 71 yr old female!
Love your videos Doctor as it is nice to be encouraged to speak up for oneself - very interesting and educational, thank you
Keep in mind, no one is charged with murdering him. There are charges for providing ketamine that resulted in a death, but that is not murder. Federal charges are ultra specific, very different from state law.
Yet.
No one has been charged yet.
Murder has no statute of limitations.
16:09 Psychoanalysis is the name for therapy based on Freud’s teachings. By definition his psychoanalysis is *so* late 19th-early 20th century. For research proven therapy seek out CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, particularly for pain management. Most cities and all the largest ones have Pain Management Clinics, often connected to large hospitals. Some CBT psychologists specialize in CBT for pain management and insomnia. That’s where modern people go for help. These days you can find CBT teletherapy for many, many conditions. As the doctor says, we may not fully understand consciousness, but in the last fifty years we have learned methods that genuinely help. You don’t have to go back 100 years for help, or turn to drugs alone.
Thanks for your get work.IJust joined. I have a lot I can share and really want to know a lot more about ketamine.
I appreciate your ethics, Dr Kaveh. 🙏🏽🙂 Peace be with you & your patients. ❤️🩹🕊️
I'm so sad and mad at his medical team, non-medical assistants and his dealer. I hope they get a hefty time behind bars. They all knew he was an addict. Senseless.
I have MS and have returned prescriptions for disposal when I felt my dr was over prescribing.
I saw how fast ketamine dropped my 1000 pound horse.
Its a very scary drug.
I saw my 8 yesr old have horrific hallucinations after dental surgery. No one told us what they were giving him or what happened after, a twrrifying experience.
Thank you. I will ask my surgeon's office whether I should have propofol. If my other surgeries used it, I should be OK.
So sad!
Thanks you for doing this video you’re the best!
♥️Dr,Thank you for being so ♥️wonderful♥️helping us!♥️
Brain elasticity should be investigated further toward better mental health!
Thank you 🙏
You are such a great, open and honestbFr. I've had some Awful Drs.
Rare??
Not sure you understand the responsibility of a doctor. If they see that a patient is addicted, it’s on them to do something about it to not provide. This dude did not stop providing. And it’s not on Perry bc this is talking about the doctors enabling.
Also…. Idk how much this needs to be said ADDICTION IS A DISEASE and doctors should treat like it like one.
@ciom9065 addiction is a result of a broken society and a broken medical system.
Money, money, money, no regard for life.
Sad situation for MP & family, but also worried of the effects on nascent Ketamine availability for healing!😮
Try checking out the Doctor Patient Forum. XXXOOO
I wonder if the assistant is mentioned in Mathew Perry's will.
And that's kind of what the cast did for me."

💜 So many medical providers are prescribing Lyrica, Gabapentin and other anti-seizure medications for chronic pain conditions. Do you think these medications will eventually become a problem?? 💜
Gabapentin is prescribed for SO many things off label. They must get hella kickbacks for it.

@@IsabelEglitis replacing anything or anyone for Him is a very very bad decision with consequences. As humans we haven’t learned yet that we were never endowed with the ability to rule over others? That is why the greatest Man who ever lived said that his government or “ kingdom is no part of this world? “ That is what he told a ruler of a world power that washed their hands from allowing him to be killed.
A friend of mine died from a non-medically trained person administering a ketamine treatment to her. In California. So so so tragic. Be careful peeps!
Im watching atf but am learning alot. TY
Me! Right here! I was on opiods for two years and did everything right and one day, the insurance said no.
Good doctoring mate, so many seem to have a script out as soon as you sit. No looking at diet for example, unless there for weight problems.
I do care. ❤
