    Great video Kevin especially since a lot of people can’t physically get in a great hat store like JJ’s for the proper fit and end up ordering online.

    Here's a question about my Stetson Buffalo gambler I mentioned on a previous video;
    Is it possible to flatten the brim in the shape of a Bolero, then just twist it the sides into a pencil curl, keeping the front straight like a coal shovel.
    The sides are already pretty relaxed due to its age, but they still hold that classic cowboy hat look.
    Hope that makes sense.

      Yeah, you’re kinda asking too much, the short answer is..no.
      not with steam..
      for those modifications,it would need to be stiffened, then blocked by a hatmaker,
      and those Buffalo Stetsons are primarily wool, so they’re not going to respond well to the reshaping..
      u can probably stiffen it with a few coats of stiffener,then u can get it flat, but not board straight,or totally flat..
      after that, u could curl the sides a little but nothing as precise or as fine as a Pencil curl…
      that’s done with tiny hand irons, it’s not easy..
      but you could get it much flatter, and curl the sides..
      you’d need to dust the felt well, stiffen it w scout hat stiffener,
      let it dry between coats, and keep the spray off of the band and the sweatband,
      you’d need to cover the sweatband first..stiffen, let it dry, and repeat 2-3x..
      then u could do some flattening with some good hot steam, do the back, then the front, then each side.
      when it’s dry, u can curl the sides..
      no guarantee how it’ll look since it’s wool and of u don’t have a nice steam source,
      so you need to decide if u want to take the risk.

      BTW: it is a beater hat, so I wasn't expecting razor sharp edges or a curl. I wanted this to have a different shape than the factory one, and if it was wavy around the crown, I would've had no problems with that.

    I’m about to order a Stetson Tacona Vitafelt Black. Greetings from Germany still can’t get a Stratoliner here, but this Tacona seems like a nice hat to practice steaming and shaping just for the good feeling. Still can’t get enough of your handling the hats. And of course the guitar 🤪👍 awesome background music. Reminds me of a ps3 game called little big planet. (That Gambe has some great tunes) ok bye for now 🕳

    I think you found yourself in the little guitar 🎸 thingy. You’d probably like a parlor guitar. I love 💕 my little Martin. I am not fond of big booming Gibson or Martin dreadnoughts. I like the compressed and soulful 👣sound of the old blues masters and you nailed it on that little thingy ☺️.
    I got my Rodeo King hat out the other day and it fits great. I love the open crown but I’d really like to have the 4 & 1/2” brim flattened so it’s more like a Tom Mix. I might take it to Batsakes, a little hat shop here in Cincinnati and ask them to re-shape it for me or I might wait til I get out west and have it done there. It’s a really kewl Western hat and the dove grey color is perfect.
    I don’t think I would ever try fooling around with trying to re-shape a Western hat on my own. I’m pretty sure I would mess it up. 👍☮️🌞🌟💕🚴‍♀️🐾

      If u ever find yerself in my neck of the woods it’d be my sincere honor to shape it up for u,but you’re right, an authentic western shop would be the best bet

      @@quadrogong1111 I’m sure you could do the brim properly. If I ever make it to NY & I’m not in my bike 🚲 I’ll bring it. You can sign the brim. 🙂

    hello sir, love your channel. i have an 3x cowboy hat that my grandpa had. i know its not of the highest quality concerning hats but i would like to reshape it to wear as a sentimental thing. Will i be able to reshape a 3x hat or is the quality so poor that 3x hats are not reshapeable?

    • @quadrogong1111
      @quadrogong1111  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s very soft, you’d need to stiffen it first, I’d say u can fix problems or alter the crown, but not a radical reshaping.if it’s soft, dust it with packing tape or a lint roller, then spray the felt w super hold hair spray,and let it dry.. no spray on the sweatband or ouster band. Once it’s stiffer, u can try to shape it.

    hi kevin i noticed there are a couple of hats that you haven't talked about like the duckbill hats or the cufflry or the bucket hats and the beanies and also the leather hats and the trilbies

      I’ve talked about them in past videos, we don’t really do leather hats where I work. And there’s not much u can do with them, but I’ve spoken about all the others, I’ve got to a of videos dating back 8-10 years, but I’ll try to expand my content more, u make a good point, thank u!!
