As a new parent of a 6 month old, I’d recommend a 4Runner. They look cool, are customizable, and can haul a family around. Plus they are higher off the ground so bending over to get the car seat out won’t destroy your back.
As a dad and owner of a 09 WRX hatch they do not stop being messy after the first two years. My son coated my tinted windows in sunscreen over 2 years ago and I still havent gotten it all off yet. My wife has a new Forester (Subaru family). That thing has been a great family car. That being said the new Subaru Ascent comes with a turbo boxer that, last i heard, has access port support from Cobb. Make that thing fun. Beyond all that do what you and your wife feel is best for you and your family. At the end of the day as long as my wife and son are safe I don't care what she drives. If I had to give up my car for my family I would do it in an instant. No one can tell you how to be a parent as long as you always do what is best for your child. Congrats to you both. I am happy for you.
Honda Pilot is amazing, my family loves ours it’s the perfect daily. Mazda CX-9 is really good too, Lexus also makes some really great SUV’s too. Acura MDX is good too

I'm so so so so happy for you both, this made me cry so much. Made me think of my little girl Serenity. She was born on Oct 1st, three months premature. The next 5 weeks were the best of my life to be proud to have a baby girl. Sadly she passed away on Nov 6th. I had to travel 8 hours each way to see her because where I live there is no NICU and her mom was with her. I made it in time to see her before she died. IM praying for you both that your baby stays strong and healthy.

We've have 5 boys, 3 still at home. We have a loud, cammed, Camaro SS and an Evo 9 and the younger kids get car sick in them so we don't often haul the family around in them. Plus I fully agree, you don't want to get the fruit snacks, Cheerios, and vomit on the seats in the nice cars. We mostly take the big old Ford Expedition out when we have the kids. Get something reliable and comfortable that you don't care when it gets trashed by the kids. Congrats, so excited for you guys. Prayers for a healthy baby and momma! Love you guys.

As far as the “mom” car I would get a gx460. They’re extremely reliable, they aren’t too expensive, and they’re nice-ish. Lots of room I have an older gx470 and it’s comfy and roomy have done a few road trips no hiccups. Keep up the hard work and I’m excited for this new chapter in your life.

With each pregnancy it was just easier to tell people from the start that we were pregnant. Thankfully our little rainbow is due in March and I can't wait to meet him. So happy for you both as I know its hard getting to that happy ending.

I would recommend a Honda Pilot safety ratings and mpgs are amazing in that vehicle definitely plenty of space for Costco runs, and they are very comfortable, I definitely regret not getting one for us.
