Hi Sir, Nice detailed video. In pile foundation if soil test says 10mtr and while execution 11mtr to 12mtr is the depth where hard strata is reached then is it ok to stop boring at 11mtrs at some places and 12mtrs at some places. Or should all pile depth be equal mtrs that is either stop at 11mtrs Or 12?mtrs and not a mix. Please explain. Thanks

thanks for nice info..your videos are always clear and clarity......My engineer gave me "12 ft well compacted sand pile to be for each footing for stablisation soil to a depth of 6 ft below the footings"" Is there any process called soil pile, having 12 feet pile depth and in that , bottom 6ft only sand filling and above 6 ft constructing the normal pillar footing foundation...is that method ok in clay soil in city for building stilt +2 floors (around 1200 sq ft in each floor)? pls advice

#1. For which Soil we should use Pile foundation?
The probable soil will be Clay and Silty Sand where we can get to the max of 8MT/sqm which may not be suitable for Isolated foundations.
#2. My plot soil is Clay and I m planning to build G+3, do I need a pile foundation?
Sure, 100% of the G+3 building will be required Pile foundation. Even for the gravity loadings piling is a must. If you opt for seismic design the number of piles will be more. But for sure, Chennai is under a seismic prone zone
#3. Will it cause damage to Neighbour's house, While doing pile foundation ?
Dont worry sir, it is not having that much of stress to the adjacent building. Hydraulic piling will be distress causing one especially for industrial structures.
#4 Do we need to get any specific approval from Corporation?
Not required. But in the design report piling design to be added based on the recommendation from the soil report. Proper structural design to be carried out. The thumb rule approach to be avoided.

You have to conduct a soil test to find the load bearing capacity of your plot soil. Only through soil test you can arrive to conclusion whether to go for pile or normal foundation.
