    Hi Sam, recently subscribed and really enjoying going through the vids on your channel. See you're up ( or were up ) my old neck of the woods. There are some amazing b roads to be found up there. One I particularly like taking ( weather permitting) on the way home from Skye is the Kylerhea/Glenelg ferry road. Amazing views and the roads a mixture of narrow, winding with bit of gravel in the middle and verges for that added spice. The road goes from beside Broadford air strip to Kykerhea and there you'll find the last manually operated turntable ferry in the world , seals and otters and the chance to see white tailed eagles to be found there. Once across on the mainland at Glenelg ( there's a nice cafe there ) the road takes you to the A87 at Shiel Bridge ( Glenshiel ) by the campsite not far from Eilean Donan Castle. Or you could do it the other way. Just thought I'd give you heads up on that. As a footnote the ferry only operates easter to October . Keep up the good work. Appreciate the time and effort put into it 👍

      Hey Sean! Thanks and appreciate the subscribe! I think I may have done that road, I'll check when I get in but it was recommended by another follower so I tagged it in. Sure it's that one anyway! Although I don't remember the turntable ferry! So I'll make sure I do it on the next run up there! It's a stunning place. Really does make you feel inferior with the size of the place! Thank you for watching and ride safe!

    A beautiful part of the world. Glen Ettive is stunning from my recollections of the 70s. Must go again and a 1290 seems the perfect tool.

      Stunning isn't it! Yes the bike handled it incredibly well. All of the undulations and bad road conditions didn't ever phase it!

    I hope to be back next year (end of April). Used to come there every year for landscape photography by motorbike. Have a tent like yours for years, mine calls "Oak 3", yes it is a 80cm package. Have no problem with it as it lays right across my panniers.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely.. its almost impossible to get a bad shot with that backdrop! I'd definitely have kept that tent if I had panniers. Would lay ontop nicely and everything else would have tucked into the panniers so it wouldn't be bulky at all! Sending it back was a lot cheaper than spending £700 on panniers and a rack system 😂

    Great upload again mate, last time I was on the corran ferry it was two quid, or a bit less! It was nice to see some of the old places. Well done on not compromising your integrity with freebies, it's good to know that your recommendations are genuine and it protects your brand too. If I'm in the market for something you have recommended it will automatically go on my consideration shortlist, even if not chosen. I always give honest opinions of kit and don't mind saying if I bought a dud. I have also made a couple of winter kit purchases that were too good, so I hardly wore them!

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Corr rip off! The guy did let me off on the way back when he saw how miserable I looked 😂.
      Definitely bud, It will impact my 'brand' more than anything if people think im not honest about what I recommend. Starts pushing the idea that there are other things you're not honest about too, so untold damage just for the sake of a freebie, so it's not worth it!
      Also agree with saying if you were given it or not! Always been honest about what I've got given, or had discount given to me on. It just keeps everyone trusting you even more!

      @@SamVBikes I'll bet! My nephew moved to London to start work after graduation, the prices of things makes my toes curl! What he pays in rent for a bedroom in a shared house would pay a mortgage here in Worcestershire!

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah the rents are stupid!! My cousin used to live in a flat in Central with his girlfriend... paid over 2k a month for a studio apartment 😂 but the dream is that you earn more in London than you do outside... not enough to pay for everything but slightly more haha

    Great touring videos Sam. On average how far would you do in a day when touring ? Excluding the motorway stretches to get to the area. I know there are a lot of factors just a ball park

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! It really does depend like you say, but if I'm happy just riding with the odd stop, I'll do 200-250 which is pretty much what we did in Ireland most days. Comfortable enough distance, but you do feel it after a few days if youre not used to it. In places like Scotland and Wales where I tend to go 'exploring' more, doing those tiny little back roads, it's closer to 150! I can definitely do more with the SAS though than I could on the Tracer 700. Comfort, good waterproof gear etc all helps.. oh and loads of coffee and cake stops 😂
