I'd just like to say how much I've enjoyed the Rome trip series. Been great to see you both smiling and laughing through all the shocking weather and toll fees. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks so much! Glad you can have a laugh along the way with us, there’s a few other tours on the channel you can watch whilst we prepare for the next big one 👍
Thank you, have really enjoyed watching your adventure something I have done many times. Now as a 70 year old and having a battle with the big C can no longer do. Cheers Keith
Thank you Keith! We are glad you are enjoying the videos! Sorry to hear about that, are you still riding locally? Im sure you have many more great adventure stories to tell? What is your most memorable trip that you had?
Hi, if you haven’t already seen it, Gary France has done a video on his channel called “Common Toll Booth Mistakes when Riding a Motorcycle”. Although the examples given don’t show cars it is easy to see what would happen if a car got too close.
My £1000 Klim jacket failed the waterproof test last year This year I purchased a Navy jacket / trousers from army surplus store £105 Warm and dry all the way down to spain and back As for the Gopro Its now Go to the bin The problem with Adventure riding nowadays is We have become the Marketing mens dream Keep doing what your doing as you do it well The best experience is the next one Ride safe you 2
That's why we think it's always a must to have waterproofs just in case even if the gear is gortex plus two extra pairs of gloves! What happened to your go pro? I love what you said "The best experience is the next one" A lot of what is advertised for adventure riders is not possible at all! most will never jump sand dunes in the Sahara on the heaviest adventure bikes available. We try to be realistic and enjoy the ride :)
Great summary guys! As regards parking, we were visiting our son and his wife earlier this year in Naples (didn’t like it, nothing like Rome) where he was posted in the army (we were flying, not on bikes). On our last day, Sunday, we had a pretty late flight so we went into Naples and our son parked the car in an underground car park he knew, saying we’d be back at 4.30. The car is left in the middle of the entrance with the keys and the attendant parks it, presumably with an eye to times. When we got back the car park was locked and secured like Fort Knox. Bugger we thought, no way we’ll get our flight! Turns out they forgot to tell us the place closed for the afternoon, but was meant to reopen at 5.30. Fortunately the attendant was on time and we got our flight, though had to pay extra for speedy security, but it’s left me very cautious of Italian underground car parks!
That’s pretty horrible experience you had! Napoli is a bit different and I think it is even more dangerous although we never been there on bikes, we usually tend to avoid big cities when riding so maybe that’s why we were so cautious when finding this particular parking garage in Rome. Italians just have different approach to everything, very laid back !
Hello On the Road Following your Recommendation of the Lexin Headset i Bought the Lexin G2P Model , Today i covered 150 Miles the Sound is Crystal Clear and More Volume that you will ever need . I have Used Sena Headsets for at least 15 Years around 4 Different Units I ride all year round like yourselves , For LESS Than a Quarter of the Price of a Sena This Headset Blows Sena out of the Water , Great Channel with down to earth Hosts
Really loved the series. Thanks for sharing your travels. Could I ask what boots you wear? Your boots would have been well tested on your trip so I would love to know if you were happy with them. Thanks and looking forward to your future trips.
Glad you enjoy our content! Well there is complicated answer to your question. Our boots did get wet but we both had them for a year and done probably well over 20k miles and a lot of walking. Rich has Forma boots and they seemed to be more wet than Eva's boots Sidi gore-tex (mens) We don't know if the boots were wet because of few days in the rain and not having enough time or means to dry them up? until this trip we never had the issue with them so we suspect the rain was just too much. Also we would recommend for you to get SEALSKINZ waterproof socks just in case you are riding for days in the rain. Rich says he was saved by those socks, even if your boots get wet your feet will be dry
Just finished watching your trip to Rome and I really enjoyed it, fantastic content and some beautiful roads and scenery, you guys have so much fun and you're really down to earth and just normal working class people who enjoy your biking adventures, looking forward to your next trip and the brilliant content you produce, great work guys. 😊
We appreciate that! I think it’s important to keep it as real as it gets on the road. Rome tour was a bit of a crazy idea but worked well for us and we definitely had a lot of fun riding!
The French Telepeage or the Italian Telepass and other similar services usually charge €2/month if only used for one country (say France) or €4 if also activated for other European countries (Spain, Italy, Portugal). You only get charged the admin fee on the months you're using it and the toll gets charged directly to your card. You'll have to pay an activation fee (one off) of around €15. Worth the price whether you're riding (less faffing with gloves etc.) or driving a RHD car.
Thank you for a series of interesting videos. I've never experienced wet helmet, even after riding in torrential rain. So I'm interested in which Helmets did you use. For Intercom, the first units 2006 were Interphone. These were excellent for the time. Since then Cardo with Mesh. Like all, they have a limited range even under good conditions, not too distance ~ 500m and clear line of sight, and open country to a question about other radio interference, but in many places - in NZ. Are your Africa Twin DCT ES or something else. Also interested in your thoughts. All I've spoken to who own AT are extremely happy with them
An alternative to putting on a wet helmet is having a storm collar. There are many manufacturers that do these. I use a Klim but as I said, there are a lot to choose from. It also saves you from packing your helmet out and making it tight fitting or uncomfortable. Stay safe
We plan not to do these types of roads again, just not enjoyable or worthwhile for us. We don’t usually travel with a schedule and this was a mistake, however it was a new experience and that is always a good thing overall 👍
Ihave gardo backtalk which should be waterproof, but even then if there was heavy rain outside i cover my helmet unit with small plastick bag. i have done it with all my helmet units and never had a broblem. it maybe not look pretty but it works..
Can't wait for your next adventure. Thanks for your info. I have the Shoei NeoTec 2 with the built in Sena and I have ridden in the most extreme rain storms and I have to say it has been ok. Are yours the side mounted versions?
Yes we have the side mounted sena 50s pair. I’m glad your works good probably because it’s built in your helmet. Fingers crossed it will stay all good for you, when sena works it’s all great. Us too! We can not wait for the next adventure. Have you planned any trips next year?
yeah sena's are utter garbage in the wet, we have had the cardo packtalk edge now for just over a year and been through some horrendous weather in scotland and they are full voice activated which is great the only downside is the radio function randomly turns on for no reason but you just say hey cardo radio off and job done. the range on them is fantastic got a mile apart from each other before they started to break up voice noises and they re connect soo fast is great though. its been a great series you have done and been great to watch and learnt alot which will come in handy for our next europe tour
Amazing, we think we will be going over to the Cardos too. Sena have ours again under warranty. We found that the comms work better if you turn off the voice stuff, we like it as basic as possible, we just want music and to talk to each other
Unfortunately, guys, i made the same mistake as you by buying the sena set some years back it was very poor, i live in ireland, so driving in the rain in guaranteed i knew the ip rating was geat but it failed instantly, purchased the cadio pack talk and its never let me down brilliant piece of kit . Great few tips 👌 really enjoyed the channel 👍
That’s a good question! We just had a look and can’t see it either! Just checking it with Lexin and will let you know tomorrow as soon as they reply to us. Sorry for that
Thanks guys really informative. I have the Shoei Neotec 2 helmet which has the ability to support the integrated Sena, when doing my research I ended up going for the Cardo Edge as the Sena was getting bad reviews similar to what you have found, I even found a design (free on the web for the Cardo on a Neotec 2) to get a 3D printed integrated plastic insert for the helmet printed for about £30, so the Cardo clips on rather than use the sticky pad, really happy with the performance of the Cardo. Keep up the great work guys!!
Glad you enjoyed the video! We had no idea t was possible to find the part to replace send with cardo in the Shoei. You are another happy user or Cardo and this shows us how much we need to move in that direction!
Great stuff guys. Always like listening to chats about gear and what work and what doesn’t. Stuff can and is so expensive and sometimes a waste of money.
Hey guys. Well done on that trip anyway my Mrs. an my self are using cardo in last 5 years no problem whatsoever. Perfect on rain. Enjoy rest of riding
Love the videos. Just a reminder regarding posting the audio/video equipment you use. Your audio is really good so I’m curious how you route the mics or what you do to get the quality audio.
quite complicated it was a series of extra wires and a lot of try and error to get it right so we can record both conversations at same time instead of just one. There are videos from other vloggers how they set it up based on the comms you use. Some use only a lav mic straight to go pro but you will only record yourself not the conversation. Are you vlogging as well or planning to do so?
@@ontheroadadventure I am going to start moto vlogging, recording trips as well as automotive stuff. Our podcast is on hiatus so I need some other creative outlet. lol
my comms cost £15.00 never had a problem (before you shout Chinese - check who made the pair you've got). Also VCan helmet with coms - no problem). Boots - overshoes. First sign of rain, stop oversuit on - easy. Keep touring. Any bike VN900 classic - 8 EU 4k miles, great. Try to get big tour each year. Goop for tube tires - but def tubeless if possible.
Hey if it works then its cost doesnt matter. I had the vn900 custom and loved that bike! Have you done the Air intake? i remember doing a stage one on mine made a huge diffierence
Well done on your series of videos, an entertaining watch and interesting to see how others go about touring. I confess I haven’t seen the lot yet, not being a TH-cam devotee I can’t get my head round the sequence! A lot of memories resurfaced of my 2013 trip to Rome and the Ligurian coast on my Suzuki GSX1400. Thanks for posting.
Hi thanks so much, here is the playlist for you, it will play the series in order 👍 th-cam.com/play/PLAbzmvTdb3d2AMq92OcugOQF9x_EJ6C3J.html&si=ooBtKmlOBmStcArx
Only just found your channel and subscribed. Starting with the camping videos, me and my wife laughed so hard . Especially the glamping birthday treat 😂😂 I would have done the same, sacking it off and getting out of there . Thanks for making us laugh .I'm looking forward to watching more 😀👍
Another cracking video. Great insights. The toll roads are always about saving time for sure. I used “Bip n Go” toll tag this summer. It works in Italy, France and Spain. Was a joy at the toll booths. Looking forward to your next adventure- Thanks again for all the time and effort you put into the vids.
Hi to both of you. I will have to defend the toll roads a little. Yes they are pricey but in France we don't pay road tax. What you will notice about the toll roads is no litter, good road surface, no shredded lorry tyres waiting to trip you up and very few vehicles on them . If you ever need a stop off in central France for the night or want to know how we ended up living here just pm me. My other half and I now have a reasonable understanding how to get the best from french travel. Looking forward to your next adventure, ride safe
You are absolutely right, the roads were clean and with good services, I guess it’s just different to UK would be better if we had the tag and didn’t have to stop so much. Thank you for the offer we just might go for a ride together one day in France! We would love to explore France but we need a good plan and find best routes. We would love to explore more from WW2 history, balcony road, south coast and the highest alps pass which I believe is in France. What is your favourite region of France to explore on the motorcycle?
@@ontheroadadventureour favourite place so far is the road to chambery at the foot of the Alps, only do it in summer though as snow is a big risk. The road to le lorient is superb but as it is a ski resort same as above
Oh don’t get me started on SENA headsets, we recently got the SENA ST1 Spider Mesh intercom Best word for it is CRAP! It cuts out, sound level extremely poor. We tried Cardo.. even worse , it has a hard time with accents and freaks out!! Don’t waste your money . Best SENA is the entry level SENA S3 their cheapest intercom it works the best, downside you can’t charge while using it!! It’s a mission trying to find a decent intercom that does what it’s supposed to do. Thanks for all your good advise.. safe travels
It all is a nightmare finding the perfect one but you are right it is just a matter of testing some comms and finding one that suits best! At the moment we been riding with the Lexin ones and they are budget comms but cannot fault them really. Battery seems to be really strong on them been on few long rides around Dartmoor listening to music and battery still pretty much full!
i have a Frech wife and have commuted to Rouen for around 26 years and have neve had that issue at a toll - I think its the pressure pads but tbh most Northern French people are not that agrressive so and dont move so close but then again Im quite fast to go through - and again Cardo are much better than Senna - 0 issues in 5 yers you really need to try them - and you guys are ace I really like your videos much more based and normal 👍
Thank you for watching and we are really glad you are enjoying it! We like to show our trips as they are and it is a mess sometimes for us all😂 French tolls were a good experience and definitely a faster alternative if you need to go from a to b We are definitely done with sena! It is reassuring that you have good experience with Cardo as seems it’s a next for us! I just don’t understand how we never knew sena was not even waterproof!
Just watched the vid on my TV box and can only comment through my phone...great round up of your last tour you two. Love your honesty and teamwork. I can recommend RUKKA GORETEX PRO outfits. I've had 3 Rukka outfits over 24 years. I still have my original drop liner outfit and it's still in great condition , well looked after and done thousands of miles. My second outfit was a bit of a snug fit after I put some weight on so I sold it. Then bought my RUKKA Cosmic outfit in 2013 and I'm still using it in all weathers to this day. Never got any leaks or broken zips, use the correct wash and proofers and they'll last year's. I use RST WP2 Adventure boots, thick soles on them and on my second pair now after wearing the first pair out after 3years of 18k miles a year and loads of walking too. I use a few gloves for different conditions, Dainese 1080 Universal Goretex/leather gloves, rukka virium2 Goretex gloves, rukka forsair gloves. Sealskinz waterproof balaclava, Shoei neotech2 helmet with SRL2 built in comms.i use halvarssons light merino wool base layers, rukka mark thermal base layers, icebreaker medium weight merino wool base layers, bridgegate merino wool socks both lightweight and medium weight. Ive been riding motorcycles since I was 11yrs of age, I'm 62 now, done all the long hair and custom bikes stuff back in the day, open face helmets, plastic bags for waterproofs, hobnail boots, sleeping bags and a black bin bag for camping etc etc..then I got sensible and discovered heated grips..lol.
I love your comment! That’s a natural progression from the homemade waterproofing back in the day to high end solid gear! We definitely need to check out your gear recommendations. Personally have not tried Rukka yet but have considered it in the past as it looks really good and by what you say it is worth the money. We are glad you are enjoying our videos 😃 Any future trips planned for when the weather gets better?
@@ontheroadadventure Planning to do trips to Cornwall, South Wales, Mid Wales, North Wales, North Yorks, Lake District and Galway, Scottish Highlands and then Pico's de Europa next year. So fingers crossed all goes to plan. 🍻👍
Interesting watching your travels. Nicely edited together. The French toll booths used to have a few booths that were actually manned and we always headed to them on the bikes. No option for that now. That tunnel fire was one of the reasons I wouldn't ride through the Mont Blanc tunnel. I actually worked on some of the trailers recovered from that fire, and it was so intense that it buckled main I beams of the 36 tonne trailers. Carol and I use Cardo Packtalk Bold to chat to each other on our vids. Work in torrential rain. Good look with the travels and with your channel
Thank you, glad you liked it! It would be handy if there was at least one human on the tolls! But glad we made it all fairly okay. The thought of the tunnel fire gives me chills! We only spoke about it after the ride and Im pretty sure we would not go there if we done the research beforehand. That’s some experience and a story to tell after working on the trailers from that tragic event! I like your audio on your videos! Have you connected your Cardo to your GoPro and recorded both conversations or separate rode mics ? We had Sena connected to record everything that goes through sena which in theory was great but because of the problems and cracking noise and sadly a lot of sound was unusable.
@ontheroadadventure We have an unconventional set up as Carol doesn't like wearing a helmet cam. We use the Cardo to chat and have separate microphones plugged into Rode wireless Go2 senders fixed to the helmet. We merge the two audios and record them onto our b roll camera which is an Insta 360onex2. I just sync up my helmet footage to the b roll audio in the edit. If we go out of the wireless range I can still use the emergency audio track off the sender. Problem is the set up isn't great in heavy rain! We do occasionally get some interference on the audio, possibly from the Cardo but we can generally work around it.
@@Banditmanuk I thought this was what you doing and we know how much hard work that is to edit! But you are doing it great I do like the audio. We just got some Rode Lav mics and will test it our that way, sometimes it is all a bit much the more we try to perfect it and be most comfortable. Have you seen the tiny insta360 go cameras? I think they look cool just have not used them
Good stuff you two.... on the tolls.... i hate them as well! However, iv got a 'Bip & Go' Transponder linked to my AMEX... you put it in a pouch on your arm.. just slow up an the barrier comes up. you get a bill then at the end of the month.
Somebody told us about these after our trip, we mention it in the Tour summary video, Its exactly what we would do again if we had to do the toll roads again, although we hope this never happens again
Agree about the Sena switching off randomly. Only happens maybe once in 7 hours continous use and only when on mesh for us. No crackling tho. They've held up against rain too so far, been out in all sorts. Sena ST1 Spider. I've heard Cardo come with their own problems. I'll look around next time I need too, hopefuly something decent is on the market. About the rolled up hood, if you're not gonna use it off the bike, just get some scissors and cut it off, problem solved.
Seems like a lot of the sense do have problems glad to hear is not to bad on yours, our send is 50S model. You are right about the hood, I can juts take it all off! :)
Thank you 🙏 very much for mentioning me on your video. I was very surprised, and yes I am going to wait until the new model comes out next year and give the sports adventure a test ride. You seem to get more for your money than a bmw. I did buy the pack talks this year expensive but brilliant, cannot fault them at all. Thanks for sharing your fantastic trip with us brilliant. Me and the wife absolutely love touring on the bike and we love to do Norway 🇳🇴 and we are definitely going to do at some point 👍👍
No problem and thank you for being here with us! Don't even get us started on the BMW they look good and some aspects of it are very solid but for what is worth AT is much better and more reliable in comparison! Norway is tempting as well! We would love to go all over the globe! Who kn owns maybe we will make it to Norway next year. Does your wife ride as well or pillion?
@@ontheroadadventure no she would not entertain it, she just likes being a pillion. Definitely going to try the new African Twin next year. I have a GSX1400 and she has been all around Europe. But now I carry a pillion the suspension is not great with all the weight. But she does still pulls like a train. Will not sell her it’s funny how you get attached to a bike lol 👍👍
Yes I had tyre weld but I knew the inner tube must have had a major hole as it went down so quickly and I could not find damage to the outside of the tyre so I didn’t waste the can just to make a mess in the tyre. I was right too, the tube had split
Not sure if it's a camera system for the tolls. Was told that there are pressure pads, a motorbike shows up at a certain weight with cars and lorries costing more. When a vehicle follows too closely the pressure pad assumes another vehicle is trying to sneak through. If it was a camera reading number plates that would need access to countries motor vehicle data base system within seconds. Enjoyed your vids and glad you had a decent adventure.
Hi, the Kemi moto vest review video will go live tonight for you. We love ours, here’s a link to the product. We use ours on and off the bikes bit.ly/3SL3BEl
Great, thanks for that. I use a Keis myself butthey are very expensive now. I bought a Savior one for a friend and the sizing was well out, over 6" too small across the chest, used their sizing chart for ordering. Took several months to get a refund and that was following many emails. As a last resort I gave a scathing review of their customer support on social media.. it took that to get a refund. I had used their heated gloves for a while and they were ok.
@@oyleyhands1332 These elate every bit as good but a fraction of the price, much prefer the battery option. I got my size wrong on my order, these guys use Amazon so correction was sorted in a couple days.
@@unOrdinaryWorld Gets us all! Thanks for your support, glad you enjoyed the series of videos. We can’t wait to go somewhere else now! Travelling is so addictive
hi guys , great insight to travelling aboard , as ive said b4 i stay in uk only now ,as hate being ripped off . As for intercom systems ,i use a fodsports v6 plus . had for 5 years now and a great thing to use .
Absolutely loved your trip and waited in anticipation for every episode. As a recommendation for comms, Interphone Tour in my and my pals opinion is incredible. Great connection, brilliant meshing easy to use, amazing battery life and waterproof. Can’t wait for your next excursion!
Hello, nice channel you have, very genuine, workers class people enjoying traveling on bikes, you show it like it is and that’s very inspiring. Keep up the good work and looking for your next adventure. Cheers from Portugal ( José ).
Colder by the days end but as we have a lot of sun during the day easily catches 20 degrees Celsius. Nice roads for your Africa Twins by the way. We have the Douro valley one of the scenics roads in the world and the N2 which crosses the country from north to south, some tolls also😂😂😂.
Sadly, I have to agree about the Senna problems; I must have spent a fortune on Senna gear. Both my Schuberth and Shoei helmets have a built in Senna solution and heavy rain has really messed them up; from constant crackling to complete failure. I have a cheapo Freedconn system on my HJC, which to date has not had any problems. I look forward to seeing your results
Just not good enough from sena for the price they ask also we thought that the built in sena would perform far better! What a waste of money. Like you we just trusted the brand but should have read the small print before buying!
I thoroughly enjoyed this series.. I’m a fan for life! Looking forward to the next one. As for the Keis Heated vest.. Best thing I EVER bought! I also love the RST Paragon heated gloves.
Funny you should ask seeing as I made a video about it today but can’t seem to post the link (comment keeps disappearing) …It’s set to unlisted but I’ll let you know when I publish it.. I'm not an editing god, or proper youtuber like you guys 😊 As for the vest, I use a mix of battery and connected/wired depending on the bike... The vest is without a doubt the BEST thing I have ever purchased. Comfort wise it's so thin it doesn't bulk up... The only criticism is that the battery tends to slightly dig in my ribs if I've eaten too much that day :D
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm its all in the practice! Depends how much time you are willing to spend on editing and filming. We are learning and trying to improve all the time, TH-cam is great for learning new skills!
Goretex laminated textiles are a game changer. I bought Klim Carlsbad which were the most cost effective at the time at about £1200 two years ago. They have never leaked in about 20k miles, and combined with the occasional use of a heated vest, transform winter riding. Best money I have ever spent t on bike gear. Its no fun when you are piss wet through and freezing. I was always very cynical of manufacturers that claimed 100% waterproof boots and gloved, but the goretex equipment I bought at the same time as my suit has been perfect. Definitely worth the expense, from a tight fisted Scot!
We have never tried Klim but we definitely think that buying solid gear is a good choice in the long run. If it makes the ride comfortable then yes it is worth the money. We are always keen exploring the options available on the market. Are you based in Scotland? If you ride in the rain then yes good gear is a must!
@ontheroadadventure yeh based in Glasgow. If you are ever up here feel free to reach out, happy to take you on the best roads. Content creator friendly, understand what's involved in getting the shots, and can help with footage. Cheers, Stevie
@@soggybawsmoto We love Scotland and can not wait to get back there and explore more! And yes you understand why it is to record while riding, that's why most of the time we ride alone when recording as we are aware that it can be annoying for other when in the group. How is the motorcycle safety/theft in Glasgow? We know some cities like London are notorious for it
The only waterproof gear I’ve had is the Rukka. It’s expensive but it works. The jackets have the neck piece which goes up high and into the helmet making a waterproof seal. Enjoyed watching your trip guys 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Great round up video .. & hats off to you both doing the alps in the cold and wet . love the honesty in the video, We all make mistakes and we always learning , but it's not an adventure until something goes wrong. Those tense moments the ones you never forget. best wishes.
Thank you, it means a lot! Glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes we wish things were perfect and flawless when on the road but it's the mistakes and funny things that are memorable. We do ride all year round based in Devon so we are used to riding in the rain but sure would prefer nice sunshine! Do you ride all year round?
@@ontheroadadventure unless it snows we ride . We went camping last weekend . I think Billy Connelly once said … ‘ There’s no such thing as bad weather , just the wrong clothes’
Its about time Senna sorted themselves out and had proper IP rated stuff. I have used it for a long time mainly because everybody else I have ridden with has Senna stuff too. Dont think I have ever had a head set last two years, mainly due to connection corrosion. Contacted Senna with pictures of 3 old corroded units and all they could say was sorry out of warranty. Oh buy the way liked your videos too. 👍👍😁😁
Exactly same reasons for us, everyone in the group had sena for may years and it seemed like an obvious choice! We have been taking ours back to the shop and they have been sending them back as still under warranty. Time for something new now, Carlo seems like a strong contestant! We are glad you enjoy our videos 😀

Great q&a video explaining your trip and the toll roads. You don't actually realise how expensive they can be until you see the credit card statement. 😂 As for comms. Yeah, I had the Sena S20 Evo when I first came out, just using for music and sat nav and calls. It was ok, but did start to see corrosion on the contacts from water. So about 2 years ago, I got the cardo packtalk bold. Much improved sound over the Sena, plus voice commands. Looking forward to your reviews. Thx G
Thank you for watching and we are happy you enjoyed it! Sounds like we need to try Cardo, based on the opinions just from today we see no one is truly happy with sena. Have you used your Cardo in heavy rain yet?
@@ontheroadadventure yes, no issues with the unit in heavy rain. The music was still clear. Can't comment on the rider to rider aspect in the wet.....no friends with cardo. 🤣
Enjoyed the tour, trials, and tribulations of the Rome trip. It was a valuable experience for me, when I decide to do a tour abroad, thanks. Also on the Senna I found them expensive, if you do not use them for more than a few days the battery runs down which is pants. Guys keep up the good work.

It is just so tempting to be on the road more often and for longer trips but yes work is holding us back! We don’t know where we will be next year but if we are in the UK we might go to ABR. Are you going next year?
Great video and series. One question, and one suggestion. What video editing software do you use, and do you use a laptop or phone to edit when on the tour? And my suggestion for a Toll Tag is Bip-and-Go. I did 6000k through France, Spain and Portugal in September and didnt stop once at the toll gates. All charges went direct to my bank account. Thanks again guys. Ride safe.
Thank you! We are glad to hear you enjoyed our video! We use Mac laptops and FCPX Pro to edit. We aimed at editing when travelling but when doing the miles we did on this tour there was very little powers left by the end of the day so each night we made sure at least everything from memory cards from all cameras was copied and cards formatted ready to use the next day. We think editing on the road is possible but when you go for longer and take your time having shorter days. Apparently it is possible to do it all on a phone but we never done it this way. You are right, toll tag is the way to go forward if we ever have to travel on those motorways again!
A very enjoyable watch. Having done a similar trip in October this year we felt almost like we were travelling with you. Agree about the textiles, we both wear Oxford Mondial and can't fault them. Our boots got soaked a couple of times and wet feet can really spoil the day. Africa is a great trip, we went to Morocco in 2017, one of our best tours. India is a real eye opener, we rode around on a 350 Enfield. Keep posting, we are hooked!
@@ontheroadadventure we used the chunnel and first night in St. Quentin, Bourg en Bresse, Gap, over the Col de Larche, Mondovi, Civitavecchio, Pompei, Sorrento, Bologna, Ducati Factory tour, Col de Petit St. Bernard, Annecy, Troyes, Arras. There were a couple more overnights and we used the toll roads as little as possible due to the cost, but like your trip, there was a time schedule to follow. Weather was great (30c) until the day we left Annecy when it poured all day, a real nuisance at the payage booths. Visited the old car race grandstands outside Reims. 3,500 miles in door to door and loved it all. No return to India for us, finished with long haul flying.
Hey guys! I'm a big fan of your adventures. While my channel is on the smaller side, currently focused on exploring the UK, your content has inspired me to expand my horizons and embark on adventures abroad. I recently took a trip to Wales, where I faced near-constant rain, and it added a unique twist to my journey. Im looking forward to your next adventure. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you for your kind comment! This is exactly what we love to do is making other bikers get out more on their bikes! We love exploring UK and always glad to be back home! Where have you travelled abroad recently or planning to?
@ontheroadadventure I'm currently immersed in exploring the UK and moto camping, with upcoming plans to discover untapped areas in Wales and the possibility of venturing into Scotland for the NC 500. The allure of the Alps and Switzerland is also on my radar for future adventures. However, before venturing abroad, I want to ensure I've perfected my moto camping packing approach.
@@TheRiderReborn Funny you say that ! We are currently on a mission to perfect camping skills in the UK so we are all perfectly ready for next big trip abroad including camping in the alps hopefully! Are camping through the winter months too? Eva really wants to try in this cold times hahaha we got some sea to summit cooking equipment today
@ontheroadadventure I'm will be doing a motorcycle wild camp in a week or so focusing on my motorcycle setup and tent that I previously used on the Wales trip that I did a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the tent I was sent leaked like a sieve on day 1, and the supplier is sending out a new one for me to review.
Who's the good looking guy with the fresh haircut and beard trim? 🤔 Spot on with the Oxford stuff, I've used so many of their products over the years, my textile suit is an Oxford advanced series, very warm and very waterproof! ☔I have loved this touring Europe series, you peeps are inspirational to say the least! Very well done, I look forward to the next series!! 😍best regards, Dennis.

@@ontheroadadventure YES! I had looked at this jacket but I didn't realise it was the one you meant!! It looks decent, welded seams so it should keep the wet out! Very stylish too, I remember years ago we all looked like lost goldfish wandering around in our waterproofs! 🤣

Thank for the vid. It is nice to see you again. Even Rich got a haircut :) Thanks for the explaining on the intercom system. am planning to buy one. But have hasitations about a system that is outside the helmet. Because in some country's it is illegal to attached anything on the helmet.
That’s good to know! In what countries is the comms illegal? So far looks like we might give a try to Cardo. What are you thinking of getting? I’m guessing build in sena?
@@ontheroadadventure I've heard that in Belgium and Luxembourg you can pulled over and get a ticket for anyting attached to the helmet. @@ontheroadadventure Yes it’s the same tag. I had one after using the tolls whilst riding to Spain through France and having the same experience as you’ve had. The beauty of it is that you choose the ‘t’ lane and approach the barrier at 30kmh or less, which then reads the tag and opens up. You just then ride through. The tag is registered to you and your bank account and the fee is paid a couple of weeks later straight out of your bank account. There’s no faffing around with tickets or credit cards. CORRECTION: You will need a separate tag for Spain and Portugal. Confusingly it’s only E-movis France supplied tags that cover all 3 countries. E-movis UK supplied tags only work in France.
@@ontheroadadventure Just remember that they’re designed for cars, vans and trucks. So it’s important to keep it where it’s easily read by the barrier. There’s videos on TH-cam about how to do it.

My £1000 Klim jacket failed the waterproof test last year
This year I purchased a Navy jacket / trousers from army surplus store £105

Its now Go to the bin
The problem with Adventure riding nowadays is
We have become the Marketing mens dream
Keep doing what your doing as you do it well
The best experience is the next one
Ride safe you 2
That's why we think it's always a must to have waterproofs just in case even if the gear is gortex plus two extra pairs of gloves!
What happened to your go pro?
I love what you said "The best experience is the next one"
A lot of what is advertised for adventure riders is not possible at all! most will never jump sand dunes in the Sahara on the heaviest adventure bikes available.

Rich has Forma boots and they seemed to be more wet than Eva's boots Sidi gore-tex (mens)
We don't know if the boots were wet because of few days in the rain and not having enough time or means to dry them up? until this trip we never had the issue with them so we suspect the rain was just too much. Also we would recommend for you to get SEALSKINZ waterproof socks just in case you are riding for days in the rain. Rich says he was saved by those socks, even if your boots get wet your feet will be dry
Excellent series you pair, enjoyed them all, thanks for taking us with you on your trip, look forward to the next one...

Yes this is a no brainer, we wish we knew this before we went, this is why we thought this video would be a useful reference for people doing the same
We trashed 4 lots of sena 30k in the rain, the group i ride with now have up graded to cardo edge never missed a beat in all weathers.
Just amazing how sena keeps getting away with being this low quality! Sounds like it’s a Cardo time for us too
Thank you for a series of interesting videos.
All I've spoken to who own AT are extremely happy with them
Hi, thanks for joining us, we think Cardo will be the way to go next. We are done with sena. We love our AT both are the manual version
An alternative to putting on a wet helmet is having a storm collar. There are many manufacturers that do these. I use a Klim but as I said, there are a lot to choose from. It also saves you from packing your helmet out and making it tight fitting or uncomfortable. Stay safe
I’ve never heard of these? Will have a google!
When you go through tolls there’s a specific lane for motorbikes. We did France and sometimes went through the car tolls and there was tolls for bikes
We plan not to do these types of roads again, just not enjoyable or worthwhile for us. We don’t usually travel with a schedule and this was a mistake, however it was a new experience and that is always a good thing overall 👍
Enjoyed that! Can’t wait for more. Where next ?
hopefully soon for now we are in the UK what's next? Even we dont know yet
Same problems with sena comms crackling and dropping, changed to cardo and it was a game changer 100% better all round 👌
We never used them but they look solid, affordable and waterproof!! Great, better than sena
Ihave gardo backtalk which should be waterproof, but even then if there was heavy rain outside i cover my helmet unit with small plastick bag. i have done it with all my helmet units and never had a broblem. it maybe not look pretty but it works..

That was a great summary. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
yeah sena's are utter garbage in the wet, we have had the cardo packtalk edge now for just over a year and been through some horrendous weather in scotland and they are full voice activated which is great the only downside is the radio function randomly turns on for no reason but you just say hey cardo radio off and job done. the range on them is fantastic got a mile apart from each other before they started to break up voice noises and they re connect soo fast is great though. its been a great series you have done and been great to watch and learnt alot which will come in handy for our next europe tour
Amazing, we think we will be going over to the Cardos too. Sena have ours again under warranty. We found that the comms work better if you turn off the voice stuff, we like it as basic as possible, we just want music and to talk to each other
I just love your attitude to riding. Look forward to lots more content

We are definitely done with sena!
We are glad you are enjoying our videos 😃

@@ontheroadadventure Planning to do trips to Cornwall, South Wales, Mid Wales, North Wales, North Yorks, Lake District and Galway, Scottish Highlands and then Pico's de Europa next year. So fingers crossed all goes to plan. 🍻👍
@@FREE_PUREBLOOD333 Love that plan! We really like touring in the UK and Spain. So many great roads to explore!
Did you not have a Tyre Weld Tin - My bike has spokes but they are Tubeless.
Hmm interesting. Either way you’d think locals would know to stay back

I'm not an editing god, or proper youtuber like you guys 😊
As for the vest, I use a mix of battery and connected/wired depending on the bike...

Enjoyed and brought back memories. Rode to spain last month. Took toll roads purely like you for the time factor. Next time I will allow more time to enjoy the ride. 👍🏻
Yes I feel like the toll road option is something we only do once?! Never again for us! Where did you go in Spain? I’ve done Pyrenees mountains but not much more in Spain yet
@ontheroadadventure El Perelló, Tarragona, visiting a friend so not far into Spain. Only had a week off. Fell of in-2 and broke the clutch clean off. Managed a bodge repair but got the ferry from Santander back in end to be safe 🙏
What kind of bike do you have? We have fitted bark busters to our bikes to help with drops like this?
@@ontheroadadventure tiger 800 xc. Yeah I'll be buying some for my next trip. Thanks for the advice though. Crash bars did great job other than that. Also heated gloves were a god send like u said. Ordered heated vest but couldn't get it in time.
@@garethjenkins2879 Ah yes these barkbusters are extremely good at protecting the bike so well worth the pennies. Glad you like your heated gear. Have you seen the new Oxford Rainseal Bright jacket? We think it’s essential kit now
Really enjoyed you videos. Looking forward to the next adventure!
A motorway badge for Europe is a good idea. Offers on at the moment for a free 12 month période. Also, you pay 2€ a month only when you use the badge. If you don't use the motorway, you don't pay.
Thank you! We didn’t know that and definitely will be getting one to save a lot of hassle! Is your next adventure already planned?
@@ontheroadadventure first off, running in new bike which arrives soon!"😊
@@janeharris9879 go on, what bike did you get?
👍❤️
Thanks guys 😃😃 Is the bikes your only transport ?
Riding for pleasure and other vehicles for work. What about you?
@@ontheroadadventure I only managed to do 2000 pleasure miles this year on my KTM 890, doing the Pyrenees next June so that should be a few thousand miles 😁 We've got an A1 for my wifes work & a Q3 as the good car. I commute via a chopper 😀😀
@@markmcdonald470 Love the variety in your bikes! KTM is fun and chopper is a cool ride and very different to KTM. Love the Audis too!
Tell us more about the chopper, have you had it for long?
When I said chopper I meant helicopter 🚁, I work on an oil platform and have a 2 hour helicopter ride every 3 or 4 weeks 😅😅. Keep the videos coming 😊
@@markmcdonald470 good one! you got me !! 😆
Nice Q&A , were next year ?
Thank you l, glad you liked it!
Where do you think we should go next year?
So many plans at the moment and the problem is we would love to see the whole world!
👍
Liberte tags only work in France, Spain and Portugal, but they do take the hassle out of peage.
Is that same tag automatically working in all 3 countries? Sorry if silly question
@@112oxford we will definitely do this next time! seems like a huge time saver a and way less hassle
@@ontheroadadventure Just remember that they’re designed for cars, vans and trucks. So it’s important to keep it where it’s easily read by the barrier.
There’s videos on TH-cam about how to do it.
@@112oxfordif you ride a motorcycle through those 30kph ones I thought you get charged car rate as they don't differentiate?
8k I only managed over a year only in the UK, as December had a canary tour trip and march a thailand motorcycle trip but pre covid I was a 20k a year biker too, love the channel and you guys cheers
That’s amazing, how was Thailand? Would you recommend it?
@ontheroadadventure yes definitely if your first time go from chiang mai and do mae Hong son loop ,there are great motorbike hire places like pop rider in chiang mai HONDA CBX 500 would be a good choice with panniers
@@sgraham15 Eva really wants to do Vietnam / Thailand and Cambodia but what about all the snakes and in sects? We might have a bit of a phobia there .........
@ontheroadadventure we have rode top to bottom in Vietnam back in 2012 great fun ,Cambodia is slightly different and needs a separate plan ,it's easier to fly and hire than ride through with someone else's hire bike as you need a representative person to get you in and out of the borders. But thailand is biker brilliant and vietnam is bonkers in the city's 6wide by forty deep bikes at every main junction great fun
@ontheroadadventure okay dokey ......snakes will avoid you and you may never see them .....we have but we look for them .lynn my fiancee had a beautiful emerald tree snake at her feet as we sat on the river side on the ping River and as we moved it shot off .we stopped one night as we watched a reticulated python cross the road it was about 6 foot long I just made sure it never got run over as it crossed . Spiders 🕷 Ord spider are big the webs are between power lines to the floor and are normal out of traffic or walkways I have lots of pictures on Instagram most spiders will run away if you see one ,chances are you will never see any of the stuff we see .so you will be okay monkey's at the temples in Thailand are more fun as they watch you and when you leave your bike n helmets they will go over and sit and play on it one put his teeth marks in the seat of our hire bike .
