Fun fact about the Devil May Cry 4 sound effect; you aren't wrong. My brother is a developer at Capcom and they used the same sound sample from that game for his teleport; both games are owned by Capcom and the development team loved it so they decided to use it! They did slightly tune it I believe, but yes, great catch :)
The problem in higher ranks is that JP's know to use the the HK and HP antiairs, the first one has huge range and if it catches you it leads to huge damage, his drive rush is another problem with the overhead, for me the thing that makes JP hard to deal with is that even his regular projectiles send you to another galaxy, he has too many keep away tools and you have to look after too many things.
I agree he does a lot of damage, and he puts you far away easily, but his overhead isn't really a problem. Honestly if you struggle with that, you're gonna struggle with a lot of his moves and tactics in general.
@@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeamnah JP’s anti air are better in some way. Like if you want to bait his down H with an early empty jumps to whiff punish, and he does the kick anti air you get a full combo and back full screen. And his down H is good because he does it so low to the ground, so it works really well against cross up. Also you can input it super late and it will still work compared to most anti air. I’ve got a Diamond 2 stars Zangief and it’s never fun playing a JP player that know how to use his anti air well.
I have found (in Plat, at least) that there are two kinds of JP players. Those that can play close, and those that cannot. In either case, getting in is the goal, but not *staying* close. This comes from a Gief main. I have found that putting JP in a corner and then poking him to death as he tries to jump out or set up portals gives me the most success. Once I get close, he's able to counter my throws or land or combo that pushes me full screen. I often land a throw and then back off on oki to set a "near neutral" that isn't point blank.
As a Cammy main, I enjoy fighting JP since we both have to be tricky. Full screen Super 3 / CA is also super satisfying to land on him. The only character it's more fun to land it on is Guile.
It feels cheap for him to have so many tools, mix ups, unique attacks, a counter, a command grab projectile throw. His kit is just far and away so much more robust than any other fighter. Even understanding the counter isn't enough with his mix options.
He doesn’t have more tools than other characters. It’s just tools you don’t like or know how to deal with. Big difference. Change the mentality, you’ll see eventually he is a free 2-0 more often than not. Because he is so used to zoning, Most of them freak out up close. You’ll run into a good JP on occasion, but chances are you are playing a character with enough tools to deal with him.
Mura, the problem with teleport is that they are crossups in good hands. You will miss more than you will punish. Nothing is better than just putting a gate just to wait for the opponent to jump or move forward. It is insanely hard to counter if you step inside the trap. You just mix up with the spikes and people are going to try to Drive Parry until they get grab after a teleport.
If JP sets up 2 voids, then the one he will teleport to will release a giant purple flash. If he's being predictable (which most JPs are, including myself), then you 'll have enough time to switch your block or cross cut DP to counter the teleport from behind BTW, if JP sets up a void in neutral like an idiot, immediately punish him. He's a sitting duck for 55 frames (45-ish on EX) and the void will go away when you hit him. Good JPs never do that though
Very helpful but I for one don’t think he should get to send you all the way back across the screen if he lands a simple bnb (without even using drive gauge lol)
I don't know if it's the players I get matched with, or the fact that no character is really weak in this game, I feel like I don't like fighting *any* character:D not that I don't enjoy the game, but each time I'm like, "oh no, not this character again":D it's challenging, that what the reason is, probably. the only one I like facing is Chun Li, 'cause they're extremely rare.
@JahlisMan I main Cammy and depending on your skill level and character, she can be a nightmare. But generally as you go higher, Cammy players have to be more solid and tricky than say Ken or Juri imo because she doesn't have the easy mode normals.
My new best friend.......this is the most sf learning I've ever gotten in 1 video...... Definitely owe you a free dinner and more. Wow What an excellent breakdown of the hardest match up for my zangief in this game.
Problem is that his anti airs are too good. The kick sends you away with a follow up combo, and the down H is super good ( coz he does it low to the ground, you can do it very late) and almost never trade.
Just a quick note, I genuinely think neutral jump is a terrible answer to bait OD amnesia. If you corner him and try to bait it that way you arent just risking getting anti aired and sent full screen, you are risking getting air thrown on reaction which puts YOU into the corner, and being in the corner against JP is a REALLY bad situation. I play JP and end up robbing people all the time exactly like this, they neutral jump to bait parry and boom backthrow incident. Next thing you know they eat drive impact and now JP gets his looping portal set ups off of the wall stick and you're dead in one or two more guesses. Just shimmy if you wanna bait the parry, its way safer, even if he makes a hard read and does wake up low to catch your backwalk he gets like no reward for it.
There's a cheap trick JPs might do at lower ranks where they'll cancel into a level 3, and he's plus enough on block that you can't jump away from it. It doesn't look like you should be able to, but just parry it and get a full punish.
@@bobbobertson3285 the two times it happened to me, it was QCF+P. The first instinct might be to jump it because it's a grab super which is typically beaten entirely by being airborne, but this one can still get you if you're not high enough.
