    This is stuff I will definitely try to implement, but it would help me understand the use of them more if there was gameplay of you using them in a real match. I feel like seeing it in a real match can show me the context of how we can get to that scenario in the first place, and identifying common responses of the opponent.

      drive rush/dragonlash, then back throw or "jab" your rival to the corner, perfect

    The part at 3:20 is hilarious. “Maybe they still stop mashing …or they will not!” So true

    Mura, what you can do after 2 pokes is trying to predict your opponent actions to put them into a space trap. Basically if you know that you are too far after 2 or 3 pokes, you can press an heavy button if you think your opponent is going to use the cr.mk. It works all the time and people don't know if it is their turns anymore.

    Definitely some good points. Knowing what normal you can DR cancel off of on block and still be able to block their invincible reversal in time is a big deal, I'll be sure to start labbing against different characters.

    Blockstrings was only majorly present in SFV... not IV... thanks the back dash for that.

      Not true. You cannot backdash off a block string. That's literaly why it's called a block string : there's no gap.
      You could only backdash off frametraps and on wake up.
      But there was also OSes preventing it.

    Doesn't the entire argument revolving around interrupting drive rush cancels with OD moves fall apart if Drive Rush still eats inputs? The screen freeze causes slowdown that changes the buffer window significantly, meaning you have to delay the reversal to break out in that instance.

    I find that chaining lights doesn't work for me consistently against Marissa and Zangief specifically. I play achun so I usually do jab-jab-s.Lk-Od Hyakuyretsukyaku but I get beat by trust 2 Characters mashing their 4 frame

  • @carl.napoli

    How do you stop raw drive rush or even cancelled drive rush with characters that don't have a od reversal? I find it hard to put a button out in space to intercept lets say a raw drive rush from Juri, or if I am in a block string that the opponent is just drive rush cancelling over and over again until I guess wrong. It feels like the game slows down your ability to get your button out when they activate the drive rush from across the screen. I use Manon and I feel like I have to preemptively press st mp to intercept the incoming rush but if I do it as I see them coming in, their drive rush button always seems to win.

      @joshbkimmusic ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can use d reversal for DR cancels. As for raw DRs, I think there was a video featuring F champ that talks about it. But essentially you can just hold a button when you see it and your button comes out before theirs

    So if someone Drive rushes into a jab, and I block the initial jab, they will always be able to grab me after the jab no matter what I do? I'm having issues with Juri pplayers drive rushing into jabs and grabs.

    • @bobbobertson3285
      @bobbobertson3285 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the + frame from the drive rush jab will make a throw beat you if you mash a normal against the tick throw. However, you can still backdash, tech, reversal, jump, etc etc.

    the biggest problem i have wish rushdown is whenever i knock someone down. i hate being close to someone when they are knocked down because something bad always happens to me. like i usually get thrown by them right as they wake up. or i if i try to hit them, i get hit myself. or sometimes my hit misses and i still get thrown anyway. it just doesnt work for me

    • @garjian0
      @garjian0 ปีที่แล้ว

      This right here is the entire reason I can't play Street Fighter. When all shoryukens used to be invincible, there was just no concept of momentum as knocking your opponent down imposed a legitimate 50/50 against you, unless you stand back where you have no longer have any mixup. That's why I played Fuerte when I tried IV, because he can mixup at that range, or Juri, because of her projectiles and because Tenshinrin didn't knock down.
      Now that it's only OD with invincibility, the problem isn't quite as bad, but it's still pretty much a constant issue. I still feel forced to take this awful, sluggish, defensive, reactive poking tactic. Some call it footsies, I call it bloody awful.
      By contrast, if you knock someone down in Soulcalibur, you can hit them with a selection of mids and lows, which remains a mixup if they were standing. Offense leads to knockdowns which promote offense, momentum.

    • @garjian0
      @garjian0 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@philipmcgrath1505 And how do you condition them? Blocking.
      As you say, it returns to neutral. You lose all of you momentum for a successful knockdown, which means you get no reward.
      Predicting their block, all you get is a grab, which is why I've been gravitating to Zangief just so there's at least some kind of offensive threat.

    • @thenewkalpa
      @thenewkalpa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garjian0Honest question: Is there any real reason to do a knockdown if you can just do combos that leave them standing and still be in frame advantage? I used to do this a lot in Mortal Kombat and it worked a ton for me.

    • @Evilj82
      @Evilj82 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garjian0SFIV was very guilty of this but I find in SF6, knockdowns provide great advantage to you. I think you just need to better work your timings and options. The punish counter damage is also much higher if the opponent guesses wrong on their wake-up and tries a reversal.

    • @Metknot666
      @Metknot666 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Learn how to "meaty" their wake up with a sweep or something.
      If they jab, jump or grab, you win. And they are knocked down again.
      They are forced to block or od reversal on wakeup.
      If they block, you grab.
      If they od reversal, you block and get a full punish.
      It is scary being knocked down and forced to guess.

    I wasn't against drive impact before the game came out but now I'm with the DI hate crowd. Its killed my enjoyment of the game because I'm not the best at street fighter but I also know I'm not terrible I got close to platinum in 5 and in 6 I'm like mid or high gold. Based on how the people I play are I should probably be in a tier higher but regardless the Drive Impact spam is ruining the lower to mid ranks and its so annoying. Its gotten to the point where my pressure is just jab jab jab until I've confirmed they're probably not going to use it especially if they're in the corner. Not to mention trying to play a mixup character like Kimberly is already difficult because you need to know your options and their options to beat you. Then you prep for one or two of the options and then " Oh they just used drive impact." Wanna do a cool mixup on their wakeup oh wait can't do that they used drive impact. Haven't played since Rashid came out and it sucks because I want to but drive impact pisses me off to an unholy degree and I have to change the entire way I play just because of it. Drive rush parry and reversal are fine but drive impact is just not.

      @@Ramxenoc if your opponent is spamming an option you keep losing to, you are spamming a mistake
      DI is countered by so many things, and it’s a 25 frame startup.. you need to vary your pressure options in more meaningful ways than just jab jab jab.. if you were tick throwing more often you wouldn’t be dealing with DI in their strings and you’d automatically beat it if they let it rip
      you can’t just go for the cool twitter mixups if you haven’t established the conditioning to do it beforehand.. i think you just need more options or time dealing with DI.. because it truly is a super high risk option

    • @Ramxenoc
      @Ramxenoc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@masonheath8044 I've heard that before and I know its easily countered I can just neutral jump the shit if I'm not already in the middle of a move and I can just throw it out myself if im not using a non cancellable move, but jabbing them out of it is way easier because there's no room for them to beat it. Tick throws also make dealing with it much easier but that doesn't change anything about low to mid tier players legit throwing it out for anything and everything. I have Ken players jumping for a cross up and doing jabs then ending with DI snd they'll just do that all day. Even if I'm not losing to that it's still ridiculously annoying. I don't lose to it much now but playing around it isn't fun so I'm just not playing as much until Ed comes out because its such a stupid and annoying thing to deal with in a fighting game.

    • @Ramxenoc
      @Ramxenoc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@masonheath8044 Appreciate you giving an actual response though instead of just trolling me 😂. I use to lose to it left and right, but said fuck it I'll just spam jabs since they wanna spam it. No room for me to mess up the timing for something or let my hands go into auto pilot and I do the wrong option. Just spam jabs until I get to a rank where they're not spamming it all day since they know they'll get blown up for it. You sound like you don't play against silver and gold players but they're relentless in doing the same shit even when it's not working and I hate playing them.
