I've liked to hear some real recorded audio with this. Very neat enclosure design.
Also, the main link gives 404.

A finished commercial product, Humbird, has at least one demo made by a customer on here. It sounds loud, what the quality is, is hard to tell.

its definitely added in. bone conducter transducers are generally a bit weak compared to their big brother audio exciters. i have a pair of tiny 3W transducers glued to some foamboard i use with a small portable kit. together theyre about as good as you'd expect from a 20-45$ price range audio product. for more depth you'll want a full size audio exciter.

I'm interested in such DIY project but for a cros hearing aid.
My right acoustic nerve is damaged, so I don't hear anything with my right ear (except some tinnitus).
And my own head creates a sound shadow to all sounds coming from the right (it's much better when there's a wall or other sound reflective surface on my left).
So good solution for ssd (single side deafness) is to have a mic on the deaf side, and a headphone on the good ear.
Bone-conductive headphone is better as it doesn't block your ear, just adds more sounds.
The ideal device would be something like these bone-conductive headsets, but having mic on one side instead of BC-transducers on both sides.
Unfortunately commercial companies don't give rat's ass about people with disabilities, and don't produce such things. And the ones that specialize in hearing aid are charging 10 times more just because you don't have a choice!!! It's really ugly!
So I'm thinking of building one myself.
Any advice would be greatly appreaciated!

I was just wondering if it is possible to do that since my grandmother is very hard of hearing and she needs a hearing aid that bypasses her tympanic membrane.... without surgery

works great with cellphone or mp3 players however when i plug it into a laptop, the transducer goes a bit crazy, vibrating non stop without emitting any sounds, anyone knows what might be the issue?

Do you create a microphone/speaker unit? I had an accoustic neuroma removed by my left ear which closed off my ear canal. I get sound in the sweet spot above my left ear, but need a mike to amplify the sound to there hus allowing me to hear through my left side again. Please tell me there is a way

I see that it has been two years, and you haven't received an answer yet. Sorry about that.
I just stumbled across your message, and I felt the urge to tell you that yes, such a system could be a solution for you. But maybe, you got that answer earlier in the meantime already.
Just in case you gave up, send a note my way, and I will try my best to advise you (within the limited reach of my knowledge, that is).

I don't see why not. The case is just a suggestion. You could always flatten out the components like Cynaps does and even attach a bluetooth audio module instead of the headphone jack.

Probably no different from a run-of-the-mill piezo speaker. There just isn't enough travel (or power) to get high-amplitude bass from the device.

i wanted to know how do you recharge the battery?

    • @MotoErgoSum
      @MotoErgoSum 7 ปีที่แล้ว

@0:54 shows there are two power connectors coming off the switch. You use one to charge the battery. A better box design would have an Adafruit USB charger built-in with the port exposed. As-is you'd have to open the box to charge.
