I love playing along with Domino Line on my bass, but of course I have to stop as soon as this solo starts and just listen because Sakurai rachets the difficulty up to 1000. Truly unbelievable amount of skill here

Most improvised solos are difficult. Honestly, all improvised playing is difficult to some extent. Some of the hardest stuff to play for me is super improvised Jazz pieces on Bass. Eugene Wright and some of his crazy walking improv pieces are like hundreds and hundreds of lines long, every single walk different. Learning them takes ages.

😅I love his playing because he'll play some of these mind blowing slap sections but a lot of their songs have excellent fingerstyle playing too. His playing on their self titled album hooked me

@@JonHop1 This live performance isn't technically improvised though, sounds pretty much record identical. A few phrases are extended here and there but this is pretty much what he plays on the original record. Maybe that itself was improvised, but either way it's still a testament as to how good Sakurai is.

So talented, it’s insane. If this or the other video where they’re all trading the solo are your first exposure to Casiopea, definitely give their music a listen. Of course the song this solo comes from, Domino Line is always a great place to start. Also any Casiopea fans that are in need of more Casiopea, there’s a great video here on TH-cam titled “The Golden Years (The Best Of Casiopea 1979-1985)” that has so many amazing performances.

As much as I want to be able to play like this I've tried so hard but I know I've absolutely reached my limit and that makes me hella depressed

It is criminal that they removed some parts of this solo in the mint jams LP version especially the 1:01 part… the whole solo should had never been touched imo!!

try listening to their song “Misty Lady” it has a similar bassline! I recommend starting with the Perfect Live II version bc they generally sound better live than studio recorded

Do his solo from perfect live 2 or casiopea live 1985 (after looking up) next! they're both very powerful solos
