As a marine scientist, thanks for the work you're doing.
Video suggestion: have a counter in the top corner tracking how many you're removing.
Then at the end tie it into a metric of impact: how many fish/day won't be eaten by the fish in your haul, for example.
How much area covered would be cool to hear, plus a running tally of other divers' efforts. Is there a bounty program, or any collective reporting?
Would be awesome to hear your perception of how lionfish populations are growing/declining.
There's a huge boom in YT content around environmental remediation - tie your efforts to the big picture wherever you can.

Florida or the government should be giving grants to companies that do these invasive species removals. They already do it for python snakes and Iguanas that are invading south Florida. They should have grants for lion fish removal too. Nathan here should probably look into that. Maybe they can get one made specially for people like him and companies that do this.

I remember a documentary that was about the lion fish invasion. One of the things they were doing was teaching groupers and sharks to eat them because the boney plates in their mouths protect from the spines. Not sure if it's true but they reported a huge decrease in lionfish population because they don't hide/run and kept getting eaten. Thanks for your work and super neat video❤

Nice to see boynton is still flourishing. Havent been in those waters since i was a kid back in the early 2000s and with so many of the reefs around Tampa being killing off becuz of the paper plants and other chemicals. Makes me sick that our government doesnt care about any of it. And desantis sure isnt gonna stop the polluting companies since he gets funded by them. As someone who cares deeply about the Florida state and our ecosystems i wish more people would fight the way we do

Yes, you would have to find a place that rents the equipment. It is best to do it properly or not at all especially when you are first doing it because it’s the most dangerous at that point so you have to have a zookeeper and a proper spear I would watch my video on Instagram and TikTok about how to secure everything and make sure you don’t lose anything.

Have any of y’all ever gotten stung by a lion fish? If so, what do you do when you get stung by a lion fish barb? Is there a type of procedure you do to get the venom out like when you get bit by a snake? I’ve always been curious what you’d have to do if you got poked by one of them buggers. I see allot of them when I go out to lobster for mini season or regular lobster season here in Florida.
LOL. He answers some of my question right around here 9:10. Still would like to know what they have to do when they get stung. Just live with it I guess? Since the poison isn’t necrotic like a snakes. I guess maybe they just deal with it?

Not sure why im enjoying watching this, but i 100% understand that they are invasive. Kinda weird question: so in hunting, we're taught to aim for quick kill shots (usually close to the heart, neck, lungs, etc.) I think i heard you say something in another video about putting them on oce because they are so hard to kill. Are their brains or hearts just too small to aim for? Is there no 'kill shot' for these guys?

I really appreciate this footage, because I STARTED watching your videos bc I’m an artist, and I am painting an underwater reef painting and I’m getting a lot of inspiration.. but also I am an ocean lover, and while I hate that you have to kill these fish, bc they are beautiful and I am so tenderhearted when it comes to any animal/fish/reptile/mammal/etc., I also understand this is the very least of evils.. somebody has to do it.. same thing with the snakeheads… now killing the pythons or is it boas? breaks my heart, but I get it.. I do! Humans are assholes sometimes.. they don’t think.. I think the reason for the invasion of the snakes is because they got free from pet stores during the bad hurricanes… I’m sure humans let some of them free too though..

Also I see in the comments that some people are saying they are good to eat. So why don't we inform the Chinese factory poaching ships that target foreign nations coast lines? They could clean it up for Florida. (sarcasm....sort of)

Occasionally, I will give them to eels, but only in places where other divers don’t go because they can become aggressive. Also giving them to sharks is very dangerous. They can become very aggressive. Normally they are super docile, but if they are offered food and it gets away sometimes day get feisty.
