Yeah. He has some amazing edge guards, dummy strong moves, stupidly good ledge traps, and great combos.Lucas can consistently bring you to 25% with DTilt DTilt FTilt
Lucas does not at ALL lack a good advantage. He has So many followups off of nair, which is a combo tool, up air and even fair. Literally all his aerials can combo. He has one of the best combo games of the entire cast, much much better than ness's
He really does. I mean sure, Ness has less end-lag on his aerials and is just easier to play and over all has a good kit. Lucas’s air attacks combo better than Ness’s (besides Fair) Lucas’s kit is literally really freaking good, he just has A LOT of tools and it’s kind of hard to master all of them. Lucas has better kill power than Ness and better specials then him but as the game gets longer, he kind of loses his neutral and it’s harder to kill with him. They still should buff Lucas a little bit to make him better. Lucas will always be my favorite character!💙 you’re also my favorite Lucas player’ keep on playin him
Mystical Assassin He has SO many kill setups his neutral is his only issue, which in smash is one of the most important. If they gave lucas better out of shield options, like making nair quicker or junk like that he'd be much safer on shield which is what he needs. As for neutral, It's really not all that bad. Sure it's super lackluster but as a zoner there's not much else you need or can do
Keylogram_ 314 I definitely CANNOT agree Lucas has so many more followups off all his aerials compared to ness. Like up air, which is more consistent since it doesn't rely on multiple hits, combos into itself and other moves more times than ness's up air. Lucas has less followups off of fair but it's definitely still possible to follow up with other moves like DJCZ, dash attack, or even ftilt if their % is low enough. Down air is unparalleled by ness's down Air when it comes to followups since dair loops are a thing without a doubt. Unlike ness, lucas actually has followups off of grounded spike bair, and even uses the sour spot for tech chases. Lastly, Nair. I promise you without any regret lucas's nair is FAR better than ness's as a combo tool. Practically all his aerials can followup as a true combo. You may argue that ness has magnet, which I can agree is a fantastic combo tool, but it's honestly no better than Lucas's DJCz and you might say that dthrow combos are a thing. And I'm here to argue that ness's down throw really has no followups after 30%, except maybe in the most situational of situations. Lucas Dthrow combos into fair as well At 0%, so at least he has that.
Furret The Byleth Main though I do have to agree that pk freeze is easy ish to avoid, it can be used as a way to make the opponent use their resources offstage. Lucas has a relative strong ledge trap game also so if they do I’m avoid it, it’s not the end of the world.

i could argue easier combos mean superior combo game tho. afterall pk freeze is better because its easier to execute right? pk flash is more powerful so it kills earlier, but having that potential is not great if its harder to pull out.

excuse me but what about pk freeze? at least mention it. but its hard to say who really is better. i think it depends on the person who plays with the character.
I think it might have been good to mention the difference in highly technical movement between ness and lucas. Lucas' djcz in combination with wavebounces and b reverses make his micro spacing insane, especially when you mix up between using psi magnet and pk freeze. This is incredibly important considering lucas is more zoning heavy than ness. It might also have been important to mention that lucas' pk freeze is a pretty useful edgeguarding option that can be used in conjunction with down smash at ledge or going offstage due to its low end lag.
Im a Ness main in Smash 64 i think he's one of the best characters. Yeah his recovery is bad but it so good when you land it. And when it collide its SUPER powerful
Lucas need serious buffs to his combo game. He should be able to autocancell his aerials quickly by landing because every time I do a Nair or Dair on someone, I can't do anything after that because they can shield it easily. Also buff his Upair, it sucks
SDI is literally the #1 counterplay to Ness' PK Fire. Followups are NOT guaranteed if you get hit by one. My friends have gotten so good at SDI, I can't even connect a dash attack sometimes. If you're complaining about PK Fire, just wiggle the stick away from Ness and your problems VANISH.
Great video. A little confused that you spent so much time talking about a snake zair tech over the tech that both ness and lucas share since smash 4. Being able to up B twice if they hit the stage correctly and up B again. All pro ness and lucas players know how to do this and it is extremely helpful.
It's Ness, but the gap is a lit closer than people think. I think lucas is bottom of high tier and ness is top of high tier. I see some people *cough* dabuz *cough* say this character is bottom 10, which is entirely false. Like... in what way is he bottom 10.

Ness' yo yo at the ledge is definitely avoidable if you hold down on your control stick. Just watch bestness' video on it
Ness End of discussion
Don't believe what they said, ness' combos and yo yo gimmicks are fake
You didn't talk about DGC magnet ( flying held magnet ) with Ness
It's so broken
Ness is God, Lucas just a child
Bro Lucas is my best character, he’s good against most matchups
I play ness more he is both sans and ness so in am playing two characters lol
Is there a specific reason the neutral and down specials weren't touched on?
7:36 4 hits not three
excuse me but what about pk freeze? at least mention it. but its hard to say who really is better. i think it depends on the person who plays with the character.
Lucas has got an attack to freeze the enemy For a second
you forgot that ness has pk flash and lucas has pk freeze and they have different absorbing moves
Lucas has the best healing its so good when doing a Nuzlocke in world of light
You forgot about Lucas’s down b which can wave bounce which makes his landing better than Ness’s
Enrique Guce ness can do the same thing
Aren't ness and lucas brothers in the game @@eaa1338
How come you didn’t compare the pk thunder and pk freeze?!
Y’all made a mistake, Lucas’s DAir hits 4 times, and the 4th one spikes, but still good content as always,
I think it might have been good to mention the difference in highly technical movement between ness and lucas.
As a lucas name I can say that I never spam pk fire however when I'm in danger I would spam pk freeze
I love how you didn’t mention PSI Freeze or pulse between the two of them
Im a Ness main in Smash 64 i think he's one of the best characters. Yeah his recovery is bad but it so good when you land it. And when it collide its SUPER powerful
Nobody is talking about smash 64 lol
@@nathangonsalves7040 sorry i just really love the game
Aren't ness and lucas brothers in the game @@CyFi5
Lucas main here. He fits me better and I love him, but I admit that Ness is the better character.
You didn’t talk about Lucus up smash. How could you?
Ness is probably better, but Lucas is far more technical and fun to play
Lucas need serious buffs to his combo game. He should be able to autocancell his aerials quickly by landing because every time I do a Nair or Dair on someone, I can't do anything after that because they can shield it easily.
Also buff his Upair, it sucks
If Ness had Lucas's grab, recovery and PK Fire + PK Freeze-- he would've been the perfect Ness.
5:55 so a persons greatest strength, is also their weakness.
Great video. A little confused that you spent so much time talking about a snake zair tech over the tech that both ness and lucas share since smash 4. Being able to up B twice if they hit the stage correctly and up B again. All pro ness and lucas players know how to do this and it is extremely helpful.
ness never had rope snake or a tether that could do the same thing lucas does
It's Ness, but the gap is a lit closer than people think. I think lucas is bottom of high tier and ness is top of high tier. I see some people *cough* dabuz *cough* say this character is bottom 10, which is entirely false. Like... in what way is he bottom 10.
“Who do you play more, Ness or Lucas”
Me: Hmm
