For the size and power of that vehicle (can tow 8000 lbs) mileage is kind of impressive. Would love to see it tested in that ORV park you use. I like those videos best. The course in this video didn't appear challenging at all. I've owned a Suburban for about 15 years and they are great family sized vehicles for people who also like to go outdoors. If you enjoy camping, fishing and hunting this vehicle gets you there. And it is a serious hauler. But if you only need a people hauler you are better off with a large crossover like the Acadia. If you are looking for a strictly off-road vehicle you can do better as well. And at the price quoted in the video you are approaching Land Cruiser territory. But if, like myself, you have just one car and you need it to do a lot of different things, then the Tahoe/Suburbans are pretty darn good. LS trim with a lot of extras goes for about $50K.

Curious if you experienced any buffeting/pressure noises in this vehicle? Like a window was cracked riding down the road (except all windows are up)...We just picked up a 2016 Yukon XL Denali and it is borderline painful. Tahoe prices are ABSURD
That looked to be quite the weak off road course. Did you even have to shift the truck (It's a truck, not a car.) in to 4wd? Hell, my creaky old T-Bird would dominate that course.

Tahoe's used to be American middle class cars. Now they are $60-70K!! Too much for me.
Volvos' used to be the Svensson car, but they costs around 500,000 skr now, $63,000. I rather spend $67,000 (539,000 kr) on Suburban LT equipped with more stuff than a Volvo XC70. Way more bang for the buck, too bad Chevy don't have a diesel option for the Suburban though...

Why didn’t you test the Z71 Tahoe off-road? The LTZ has huge wheels and belongs on the pavement.

I'd rather get a heavy duty truck than the Tahoe. Much more practicality IMO. Can do a hell of a lot more. Their also certain models like 20k less.

The front end of his car is pretty low for a 4wd suv, wouldn't you agree? They should have at least put some kind of air raising lowering system like the grand Cherokees.

Where is off-road? I see ordinary roads at the Seliger district, Tver region (Russia) or at the Tambow regior or at the Moscow region, Russia once more. Ordinary russian roads
or ordinary dirt roads, even death valley roads are much more harsh than this. i took my 2012 suburban onto racetrack 6 and it handled it well. only problem was, there was too much loose gravel and rock and i forgot the lower my tire pressure and i only had normal "all-season" tires. honestly the z27 model would be a much better choice if you're going to offroad a lot
I just got the Z71 model but I'm getting a combined 14mpg... is anyone else getting this poor gas milage????!!!!!
Well the Tahoe and other large utility vehicles have a large liter V8 engine which drinks up gas like there's no tomorrow. Most V8's don't get that great of mileage so :/
Alex Seth I agree, but this one is nuts. I owned a tahoe back in 07 and it was pretty decent on had but this Z71 is just hard to get used to. About 300 miles a tank so far....

These new Tahoe's will never live up to the GMT400 series. The whole Suburuban line today is nothing more then a line up of over priced grocery getters.
They really need to cut off that stupid fuel saving spoiler under the car. Wish everyone would make SUV's above 8 inches in ground clearance again.
On all GM trucks, you can just pop that off really easily with a few tabs.
But yeah, it's sad that SUVs of today are better suited for hauling kids or an occasional trailer. They look more like a small bus than any kind of off roading vehicle. Ideally they would leave that kind of thing to crossovers for better city driving and mpg, then have separate models of the older style body on frame trucks that can go on more than just a dirt road.

The Tahoe is an amazing vehicle. But it is NOT worth 70K that is ridiculous GM. 50K for the LTZ would be the most I would spend...I've been a long time GM buyer but I will be looking for better deals with other brands if this persists.

Get an old 1997 Chevy z71 with the 350. It's a scary MF in low gear. Anyone that's gonna buy this car for 70 grand will never take it off road. That is a soccer mom car all the way. It's not a real 4x4 and thats not a mud fest.
