    TH-cam officially launched on December 15, 2005.
    And this video was uploaded on September 5, 2006, which was pretty prescient.

      +Shkotay D obiwan matched anakin and yoda was far more powerful than obiwan, which means he was far more powerful than anakin as well

    • @shkotayd9749
      @shkotayd9749 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Draken Was it that, or the VAST almost 900 years of experience that Yoda had in using the force?
      Its like boxing. You can put a new athletic kid in with an aging old vet who has fought for years. The kid physically and talentwise is better in every sense.
      But I have been there myself, and I have numerous times seen vets pick physically superior noobs apart easily and not even break a sweat while the noob is falling to bits 3 rds into sparring.
      Mind you its far different when the noob gets a lot of ring time in and starts to get a deeper appreciation. Anakin was barely 20 by the time he turned to the dark side. Dooku kicked his ass too relatively easily. And Obi-Wans as well at the same time come to think of it. Great power can be negated by vast experience. Seen it a lot.
      Same with Obi-Wan - quite powerful himself but not up to Anakins state of power, but also like 2 decades more experience in the use of the force. And he had a hell of a struggle doing it.

    • @legendarymop
      @legendarymop 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Shkotay D I dont see how boxing has anything to do with this. Its not about experience, it's about how powerful they are all around. As we saw in the 15 minute fight between anakin and obiwan in revenge of the sith, they were evenly matched until obiwan had the high ground and cut off anakins limbs. Obiwan is clearly not as powerful as sidious while yoda is more powerful than sidious. If anakin was matched to obiwan and obiwan isnt as powerful as sidious who is less powerful than yoda, then yoda outpowers anakin.

    • @chrismlone

      Apparently he uses the force to do most of his fighting. That's why he has a very limited time in which he can fight and why he decided to retreat instead of going round 2 with The Emperor.
      Sidious also went on to adopt Yoda's walking stick appearance to make him appear more fragile and older than what he actually is.

      Everytime they locked sabers Yoda over powered Palpatine, that's why he tried to run after Yoda pushed him back, he was threatened by Yodas power. That's why you see Yoda starting to push Palpatine back as he struggles for his life unleashing his lightning, Yoda was clearly on the edge & his only disadvantage was the arena. Had they been where Windu & Palpatine fought it'd of ended differently.

    Yoda vs Sidious was one of the greatest moments in episode 3 hands down. When fans saw that happen for the first time they couldn't believe what they were seeing, it seemed like a dream match right in front of them. This was the kind of shit that happened only in fan fiction up to then. Not to mention is has great meaning in terms of the force itself, Yoda being the head honcho kind of guy on the light side and Sidious being the big bad guy. It really felt that intense to see it happen for the first time in a Star Wars movie.

    A lot of people hate the prequels, but I think the prequels provide a pretty good back-story leading up to the events of the original trilogy. I personally think it is rather illogical that some people hate Yoda for fighting in the prequels. I think it makes sense that Yoda would have had combat experience. Even if Jedi Masters like Yoda hate fighting, they certainly do fight when it's absolutely necessary (like when Obi-Wan fought Vader on the Death Star). If Yoda was to not be skilled in physical combat, he would not have been able to teach Luke how to duel with a lightsaber. For the most part, it is unrealistic to teach someone something without having at least some experience yourself. But, oh well. I guess it is pretty much destined that Star Wars fans will always be deeply divided in opinion.

      In short: It is not about the plot, it is about the execution.

      +Minigun101 A lightsaber fight should never have been necessary. You have two massively powerful force users and Dooku says that the contest cannot be settled by their knowledge of the force but by a lightsaber battle. Why? Is the force not adequate enough but flinging laser swords is? A lightsaber fight makes it a physical contest, rather than a battle between light and dark force power. And as I already explained. Yoda is above that. His physical smallness prevents him from competing against much larger opponents, so he has to do the flip routines to compensate. So everything he says about physical strength not mattering does indeed matter a great deal in a lightsaber fight. There's a reason why Yoda never takes the time to teach Luke anything about lightsaber combat when he trains him. How it should've played out would've been an epic contest of force power. Both Yoda and Dooku would've been fighting with the force alone, rather than flinging laser swords simply because they're popular scenes in these movies. And the character of Yoda wouldn't contradict his own teachings and be reduced to video game antics.

I know you said it in his defense but actually you underrated his force powers. Yoda has vast amount of force more than any jedi of his era (excluding Anakin potencially), so he really doesn't need 50% of it to enhance his physique. I think you got me wrong let me explain. I don't think Yoda has little force reserves. I have enough knowledge of the franchise to not state something so obviously wrong. I'm just saying that even compared to such a great force user like Yoda, Sidious still obviously outclassed him in it. He's just that much powerful.

      +ChaosCollection l think you have heard many arguments many times. But l will keep it really nice and simple, and not tell everything with details.
      Look at Yoda. He's 900. He's like one meter. Can you stand against a creature that is three times larger than you? Wouldn't you get killed right away? And you would probably have a bad heart when you're 900.
      He walked around with that stick, he probably couldn't walk without it.
      "Wars not make one great". What does that mean? That Yoda didn't become great because of him being a warrior. He became great because he was strong with the force. He probably knew it inside out.
      "A jedi uses the force for knowledge and defense, never for attack". It's not the greatest example, but to me it says this: the force is for knowledge. Yes, exactly. And defense. Yeah. But it doesn't say anything about the lightsaber. Yoda probably could defend himself with using the force. But with a lightsaber? My argument is that he has limitations with sword fighting.

    • @primeirrational
      @primeirrational 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ChaosCollection we never saw him train Luke with a lightsaber either. We only saw him teach Luke about the force.

    • @nincsjonev
      @nincsjonev 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Orenar
      Do you really expect that Luke could beat Vader in a lightsaber duel without any training/experience? True that Vader lost his agility/mobility/speed but he became stronger, and is an experienced veteran of literally a thousand battles, and dueled some of the best duelists in Star Wars history. Luke would have had no chance without proper lightsaber training, and Vader even commended that when they fought, he just mistakenly thought Luke was trained by Obi-Wan. He didn't want to kill Luke, but when he got serious, he chopped his hand in no time.
      Yoda could say things like that because he talks from experience. He can say that war does not make one great because he has been there, done that. He has much more credibility this way.
      If you are so fond of Yoda quotes, let me present you one: Size matters not.
