Hey guys, I loved this video, because you gave me new perspective of the city I was born and grew up in. So glad you had a lovely time here. And, to answer your question, the wooden phallic bottle openers are a tribute to the God Dionysus, god of wine and sex, used to open the means of relaxing and having a good time, a bottle of spirits. In ancient times, phallic wooden statues, were brought to his temples as offerings in order to gain his favour, and there numerous feasts that still use the Phallus as a way of teasing and sign of prosperity for crops and children-making, in many cities of Greece. Very old school stuff. Moreover, it does catch your eye and it is a best seller with tourists. Anxiously awaiting for the next vlog, guys!
Ohhhh... ok I knew there had to be a story behind all the penises! Now I wish we would have bought one as that would have made a great story. Next time!! Glad you enjoyed the video, we loved your city!!
Like everyone else, I want to say a BIG BIG THANK YOU for sharing your trips, your voyages, your memories of a lifetime and your family with all of us. You both are truly wonderful, humble and amazing people. Much love and many adventures ahead for you and the boys.
Y'all are so dang cute and I love how much in awe you are of seeing something so amazing 🤗 I would be the same way, but probably blubbering like a baby. Can't wait to see more!
I want to be there right now! One could spend an entire week just in Athens and not see everything and you have to get as much as you can within a day and a half. I can only imagine how surreal it is in person to see things that we do not have in the US. Thank you for sharing this amazing trip and I cannot wait to experience it myself :)
Loved this! We had planned on going to the Mediterranean on a cruise for Harry's 50th this year, but then my Dad who is 86 decided he wanted to go on a cruise, so we canceled ours and booked the Joy for the Mexican Riviera. We will be going maybe next fall, so your videos will be our inspiration. :) Amazing!
I was reminiscing with my sister tonight about our trip to Greece 13 years ago. It was certainly a trip we will never forget. Lots of beautiful memories. Thank you for sharing with us.
Phallos is a good luck symbol in Greece. There are many festivals around it, in the Carnival period like Μπουρανί. The one on the rope, it's a soap, I think
Alisa, I just want to thank-you and Jason for taking us with you everywhere you have gone. There is no-way that I would ever be able to travel to Greece or go on a Cruise. The best thing I ever did was accepting your channel.
OMG...OMG. This looks like it's going to be an amazing trip. I've been obsessed with ancient Greece and Egypt since I was a little girl. I've watched many YT videos on Greece but I've never seen it like this. I've never seen the graffiti! It may look a little off-putting to some but I like the way the city is a combination of the old and new. The ruins ...I can't believe the different the difference in elevation from the first ruins you filmed up to the Acropolis! Those ancient Greeks must've had great lungs and huge calf muscles...that's a mighty steep hike uphill. My only regret is I didn't visit before I got Diabetes....those bakeries!!!! I had to take some Insulin just watching it on screen LOL! I'm looking forward to the next episodes!
I love the excitement in this video! There is something to be said for being able to travel to the cities and learn the history and see the old city or ruins. It’s pretty amazing!
Alisa, I love hearing the excitement in your voice when you saw the Acropolis for the first time through the buildings, and at every bakery. I'd be the same way and come out 30 pounds heavier. Isn't it so magical to explore new places? Looking forward to the next piece of this AMAZING journey. :)
Thanks Alisa and Jason for sharing your adventure with us. I couldn't wait for you to post the videos from Greece. This video exceeded my expectations. This is one of the places that I have always wanted to go to. I am lucky to be going in October. Now I am more excited because of what you have shared with all of us. I can't wait to see more videos from you. I hope you guys know how much I appreciate you sharing your adventures. Thank you for wanting to share your trips and lives with us. I know it must be time consuming to put these videos together. Just know that I really appreciate it and always look forward to the next video.
Great trip to Athens guys and I'm glad you enjoyed it.. The graffiti is mostly located in the center of the city which is a little sad to see but charming as well.. You guys were staying in a very boheme area(Exarchia) known for their street art and tagging.. Being greek myself I enjoyed your videos of Athens. Next time around you should visit the seaside of Athens(southern suburbs) all the way to Cape Sounion where you see the temple of Poseidon.
Greek Islands are on my bucket list..Traveling on a cruise to the Mediterranean in October, first time ever overseas & I'm 66yrs old.....I better get on my buckets list....only thing holding me back is $$$$$$.....lol
OH MY MY MY! Now I am going to have to start thinking about traveling further. Can't wait for the pyramid video. They have always fascinated me. Y'all's excitement is contagious! My cheeks hurt watching your videos.
Love these videos!! Our daughter is going to Greece for 12 days next year with her school its so nice to see what she will get to experience 😊 hope you had so much fun!!
Can’t wait to see your cruise. My husband wants a European river cruise for his 40th birthday in 3 years but I am trying to convince him for an easter European/Asian cruise. I plan on showing him your blogs.
Thanks for sharing your fun and excitement loved the city tour. Happy to here that the pubs and restaurants are open on Sunday. And all of those delicious bakeries wow. Sincerely, Adventures of David and Aaron.⚓⚓⚓
Y’all were making me hungry with those pastry stops 😂 This city looks amazing. I’m seriously considering booking this same cruise for 2021 and would love to book through you! ❤️
OMG Thank you so much for these. We go on a cruise out of Athens in Sept, spending 3 days before in Athens. Very excited, it is my dream place. I also agree with the magnets, I get them everywhere we go, my husband gets license plates.
One of my biggest purchase regrets is not buying one of those bottle openers when I was in Greece (Mykonos) this past spring. Oh well, guess I have to go back, right? 😆
Love these vlogs.....having been to Eygpt many years ago these vlogs are bringing back many fabulous memories for me......just a magical place. ....thanks
Does Jason have a fitness channel? Or does he express how he stays in shape because I want to get better and lose some more weight...so far I've seen him with no sugar (no sugar of any kind?) No bread..of any kind? Meaning no flours? I'm diabetic so I am low sugar I want to cute all sugar but I need something for coffee and tea. I drink water too. Lots. Thank you for the amazing video and information. -Brenda I will definately need my knee brace for all the walking. The view of Acropolis is just jaw dropping
I love seeing the ruins. It's cool to think of who walked up those stairs all those years ago. What happened to them? What happened on that site? It's just so cool
Did you bring your passport book or card offshore with you? Debating whether to leave book in safe while on shore excursions in Europe and just bring passbook card with sail and sign card while in port as ID and getting back on ship.

I really got hit with jetlag flying to Japan. I thought I would take a short afternoon nap. I woke up at MIDNIGHT. I was finally recovering at the END of my 2 week trip!

@@EECCTravels That's great! Everyone should get a huge dose of history and learn from it, as well as experience other cultures... Why, back when I was active duty... (drones off into old memories)
Thank goodness for Starbucks huh? LOL But ohhhh my goodness those bakeries look amazing!! I am with you Alisa, I would weigh 1000 lbs if I lived there, I could live on a Greek Salad and tons of Bakery items hahaha I cant stop laughing about those bottle openers and penis on a rope.....they come in all colors and tattoos lol too funny! Another great vlog!!
I have to comment on the penis’. The same things were all over the gift shops in Costa Rica. I almost bought the bot,e opener for a friend but decided against it knowing he would never use it. Thanks for the videos. Makes me want to go for sure.

Such a wonderful, wonderful experience! Thank you for sharing!!
Lovin the European vibe. Great new graphics. What editing program do you use? Thx for sharing ❤️😃🚢
We just started using Final Cut Pro when we started this series.
Grafitti is common in Germany also. It seems so strange to Americans. Not as much as in Athens however!

How I would love to take that trip!!!

Alisa! I feel your pain! I too have a weakness for the Carbs IE bread! That all looks amazing!
OMG this is awesome. I so want to go there. I am a history nut!! Did you have any problem communicating?
No, everyone in the service industry speaks English. They were so nice too.
I gotta have one of those bottle openers 😜

Can you do a video haul of all the souvenirs you bought on this trip?
I thought about doing this but moat were Christmas gifts that were wrapped when we got home.
I really got hit with jetlag flying to Japan. I thought I would take a short afternoon nap. I woke up at MIDNIGHT. I was finally recovering at the END of my 2 week trip!
When I travel to Europe you just need to stay up so the jetlag does not set in. Santorini has to be the most beautiful greek island ever !

One tip for Greece. Get a card from your hotel that has its name and address on it - in GREEK writing
We did do this 👍
Did you feel safe walking around at night?
In Plaka, yes. We did take a cab back to the hotel since it was pretty late.
Cruising the world with Jackie Greece is VERY SAFE.
Opah
great video. Looks like graffiti is awful there
Alisa: What is the deal with all these penises?!
🤣🤣🤣❤
It's pronounced OH-pah. not OOO-pa. You're not in WIlly Wonka!
