Thank you Anne-Li for your video! I enjoyed watching your adventures around Edinburgh. Glad you were able to walk up Arthur's Seat and see the view! I've been watching Outlander on Netflix and it was interesting to see your video on Edinburgh. I watched this morning while I was running on my treadmill so I saw you and the scenery on a 50 inch television in front of me. Had a good run 8 km in 31:55 mins. Hope you are having good days in Denmark! Best wishes from Nova Scotia! Thumbs up!
Wow, Mike, you're even cooler than the guy running down Arthur's Seat! 8 K in less than 32 minutes? Now that's impressive! Wow, a 50 inch television? That's scary to think about! Thank you!
You make realy good videos in Edinburgh....(where im from obviously)...good for you for getting out on your own and living life to the full. I stumbled across your videos via youtube suggestions and will definitely subscribe and watch your other videos

So glad you liked Edinburgh! I went to uni there and ended up staying for 10 years. I still visit regularly and it's still a magical place for me. My daughter is now studying geology at uni, so I have even more excuses to go down to visit!
I love Harry Potter sooooo much so I visited Scotland last Summer. It is beautiful. The West Coast Railway (with Steam train!!!) from Fort William to Mallaig was so cool! It gave me that Harry Potter vibes. But Victoria’s Street was my favorite...❤️❤️ Love Scotland...
Well done lassie! Av watched aw 3 of u're videos on my beautiful city and u capture the vibe of the place brilliantly. On top of that u have a very nice way about u, am glad u loved it so much, hurry back!
Just found your Edinburgh videos, as both a local and someone that started solo travelling recently I loved them. I can definitely relate with the eating out alone, I find it very awkward no matter where I am. I am glad you enjoyed our beautiful city and hope you return sometime!

Anne Li the Spoons Cafe was originally called the Nicholson Cafe because it was on Nicholson Street. JK's brother in law owned it at the time she was writing the first book. Also, just up from Greyfriars Kirkyard was another cafe called The Elephant House where she wrote her later books.

Love it, this is a so inspiring video :) Me and my boyfriend is planning a trip to Scotland and Edinburg for the summer 2019. Its so gorgeous, looking so forward to visit it.
Its cool to travel alone I am naturally social and have made a lot of friends around the world but for some people it helps them or I would say forces them to engage and get out of their comfort zone. Never let the fear of traveling alone stop you, there are hundreds of fellow solo travelers around the world that at one point of life will stumble accross your path and let me tell that is one of the most wonderful things of traveling.
We as kids rolled our easter eggs at Arthtur's seat,Wee bit scary because you couldn't stop running and went flying down Arthur's seat.We lived though :) Caroline
Great videos, thanks for sharing. I am from Scotland and visit Edinburgh several times a year to see friends. Some of the bests days there are when we just wander with the city with no plan and see where it takes us. We usually discover nice bar and cafes and we just chill and have a good time :) I love watching videos like this, your thoughts to the camera were great in these and i learned a lot. I hope you come back soon and make more videos, i will watch them. Id also recommend you try and get to some other parts of the country too, the Highlands, islands like Skye, etc. You have a new subscriber 👍.
I love this video, also my favourite city to visit. Subscribed - I love a fellow traveller doing something they love a lot of firsts of many to come I am sure. Eating alone, making friends having good laughs. Travelling alone is liberating.
My old office at Dalkeith Road looked on to the Salisbury craggs which is on other side of Arthur's Seat it is a very dramatic view of Arthur's seat. I used to walk some mornings from Duddingston village, where I could park my car for free and walk through the park to my office (about 20 minutes) I was on the third floor so the view was amazing - , lovely in the summer.

Hi Anne-Li I made it..da da da doo doo. Finally on my seventh visit to Edinburgh i finally took on Arthur's Seat and yes, you are absolutely right, the view is definitely worth every step. Sadly, despite all my efforts, I failed to find the remains of your carrot cake. And it didn't rain..!! Hope you come back one day..❤
Watching your videos of Edinburgh reminds me of our trip there with a dear friend last Oct.2018. Arthur's Seat was a surprise to us, we didnt know about it until we saw it on our way to our accomodation and we climbed it right after dropping our stuff at our room. Definitely can relate to your admiration of Edinburgh. 😍
OMG I went as many places as I possibly could. I had 2 days in Falkirk/Grangemouth, 2 days in Glasgow, 2 days in Edinburgh, 2 days in Inverness (with a stop at Dunfermline Abbey on the way to see King Robert Bruce's grave inside the Abbey!), the Culloden battlefield & Clava Cairns, 3 days on the Isle of Skye and then a huge road trip all the way up the the North East corner of Scotland to a town called Fraserburgh. I have relatives who live there. We stopped at Elgin Cathedral on our way to Fraserburgh! Lots of driving! But it was so worth it! Next trip back is September 2019 for a party called the Highlander Fling. It is in Glasgow! You should think about going to that! They do a ceilidh (prounouced KeeLee) dance! I'm spending 5-6 days in Glasgow only this time. Doing some more family research and just enjoying my favourite Scottish city! In Edinburgh we went to Gray Friars Bobby. We ate at the restaurant and looked around the cemetery too. We walked around that entire area of Edinburgh in the 2 days we were there. Edinburgh castle was amazing!
LMAO over the half piece of carrot cake! Love your videos. Will have to let you know when I am returning to Edinburgh (within the next 2 years) for another solo trip. Hope to see you there!
Castle Hill where the castle sits is also an extinct volcano. Another good place to hike is the Pentland hills on the southern edge of Edinburgh if that's your thing. It's a bit more hard going though so not the best if you're injured. And although it's a bit price I always reccomend tourist go to the castle at least once, not every trip but I think it's worth it.
I can't do anything but love this city. I've been there two times, first time for an exchange programm and actually just these summer holidays I came back and revisited my exchange partner. Edinburgh is so wonderful, I like photography, some of my best shots are from there. Something just seems so perfect about how all the components of the city work together. You have a lot of nature with Arthur's seat, the hollyrood park as a whole, the Meadows, there's the older parts around the city centre and all those wonderfully modernised victorian worker homes. I might be exaggerating a bit as my exchange partner and his family are so nice and I generally just enjoy exploring cities on my own and Edinburgh was the first city I ever had the opportunity in to do so. I thik I'll certainly return for a third, fourth, fifth,... , visit if time allows it. Your video was awesome, as well :D
Anne-Li....I made it to Edinburgh a few days ago and you will never guess who I met at Greyfriars Kirkyard today July 19 2021..the old guy who talked to you about McGonnegal. I told him about your video, even managed to find it on TH-cam and showed him and he remembered you..!! " A lovely, girl, very sweet, very lovely ". We talked for ages about his work at the Kirkyard. Lovely man. Catch up soon I hope.☺️
@@Holetsgo I'm still here it's my last night, I return home in the morning. I'm going back next year, probably in August so keep August free in your diary and maybe we can meet and I can show you around.
@@Holetsgo Apparently he was telling me that he his only there a couple of times a week as he goes to other places as well as a volunteer guide so I think I was very lucky to be there when he was. I was standing near the gate to the school and I heard him telling some people about McGonnegal and I recognised his voice straight away. When I turned around he was standing a few feet away. I just had to tell him about your video.
Tattoo is Harry's dads animagus ? and his patronus ? also awsome video it warms my heart to see such a great video of where I spent my university days. You should check Scotland out during august for the FRINGE festival , worlds largest arts and theatre festival, amazing comedy and physical theatre.
Hey I really love your videos. The best I’ve seen of Edinburgh. You really captured the essence of the place, and your enthusiasm is contagious! Next time you come to Scotland visit Glasgow!
I stay just 10 miles from Edinburgh but shamefully I've never climbed up Arthur's Seat. This video has totally inspired me to make the effort, so thank you. 👍
I doubt it's possible to see Norway from Arthur's Seat but, if you'd had a telescope and a great sense of direction you might have seen my house. I live on the other side of the Forth and can see Arthur's Seat from my front door. Glad you enjoyed your time in our country, haste ye back!
You sound a wee bit Irish 😍 I'm travelling to Edinburgh in march for 7 days! And your vlogs helped to plan out some of the things I want to visit, thank you! I love your vlogs, new subscriber ❤
Great video, I haven't long found your Channel but I am thoroughly enjoying the videos. A fantastic first solo travel, I hope to start doing something similar next year if I can pluck up the courage and go for it.
Glad you loved our city.... come back when the Pandemics over & will take you on a proper Edinburgh day/night out! The 'dude' ... love how you explain it! 👌
Really enjoyed your Edinburgh videos. I’m off there tomorrow for a meeting but have a got a few hours free afterwards so will look to see if your carrot cake is still there 😂😂🏴🏴
Good video. You should’ve started the day with Arthur’s Seat and then worked back into town. Also, you seem to have missed out the main cafe location for Rowling and Potter... the Elephant Cafe. The Elephant Cafe also has Rowling/Potter references everywhere. It’s across from the National Library of Scotland, beside the Central Library on George IV Bridge. Nice work 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Just for recored, Edinburgh Castle was infact center point of Volcano. As you walked Arthur Seat on the seoned level (Advance level). The first one (just before you went to Arthur Sign) on left is basic level and third one behind you is the third level for experiance walkers, also highest piont. I also recommed ypu should go to The Pentlands. Nice video.
I started watching your vlogs from the Edinburgh ones, and then saw that you used to have a partner in crime! I think you are doing a FANTASTIC job at this on your own! they are refreshing and sweet. Had a trip to Edinburgh and was researching to see if there was anything new that you may have found though didn't have time to check out most of it as I was meeting a friend and doing the Christmas Market mainly :) Next time I'm gonna check out the graveyard though!! Take it easy on your knee! Look forward to seeing more travels! xx
Great video :) You and I have something in common 🙈 Bad knees that trying to stop us from walking and exploring more 😂👍 I am heading to Edinburgh next week so hopefully, mine will survive the hike to the Arthur's Seat :)
True story. I took a Louisiana dog up Arthur's Seat at six in the morning and we bumped into two guys from the US South, with an accent from central casting, half way up.
interesting... I really do appreciate my home city. I am glad to hear such great words said, its funny and also a bit strange watching and listening to this young girls experience, I have had many grand walks up and down Arthur seat. Its a great place to take in the views and get away from all the hustle n bustle.. it makes me think about how are minds get refreshed and energised with new surrounding and how we can feel more mentally oppressed in are own city's having so many ties and experiences good and bad. Its the same feeling we get while holidaying or time out with nature. I now realise its more the mental phycological oppressive abuse we choose to except as Ares. the way we look and see things is key the battle of the minds we are exposed to a lot of artificial intelligence that brings on are own insecurity's and how words and people can be so challenging... my nomadic concept at this time says run to the hills LOL?! no but seriously we must all wake up including myself and try live more meaningful life's and don't just except life for how it is and get are self's in ruts going round in circles. I truly believe we can all change are own reality by changing the way we think and look at are own life's and how we react to life when life wants to give us nothing but lemons... I say Tarah Tarah for king and country #shh.justsaying.3
Next time you are in Edinburgh, head out South Queensferry and on into West Lothian. South Queensferry for the Forth Bridge, which will blow your mind. Then West Lothian for the Outlander locations: Houston House (home to the Duke of Sandringham and also the place where Jamie worked as a groom), Blackness Castle (Fort William, and the site of the infamous flogging scene) and Midhope Castle (Lallybroch). And along in Bo'ness is the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway (where Claire says goodbye to Frank).
Nothing fancy aboot West Lothian I stay there noo wish I was back in Edinburgh to be honest Edinburgh is probs the best place for tourists it's a lovely gothic city best place in Scotland it's not the capital for no reason 😂
General rule of thumb for predicting Edinburgh weather is that if you can't see Edinburgh castle then it is probably raining and if you can see the castle then it is probably about to rain!
Hahahaha, I love it! 😂😂😂
Hahaha....something to remember!
It doesn't actually Rain as much as people think it does try going to Glasgow then you will get rain alright.
But as the Big Yin paraphrased “If you don’t like Scottish weather, wait thirty minutes, and it is likely to change.”
Where’s the rain lol I must’ve even oot the country.

you’re so sweet. love these videos and glad you loved Edinburgh as it’s my hometown 😊🧡🏴
Is the begining of september a Good time to visit Edinburgh? ?? :)
That green and white stadium at 9:24 is called Easter road it's home to the Famous Hibernian FC beautiful stadium
Ggtthb...
Great clip again Anne-Li. Scandanavians feel at home in Scotland!
Thank you so much! 😀Yes, I guess the clouds make it feel like home 😅
Apart from the carrot cake - I love your positivity xx wonderful video
I've enjoyed these, as a brit. Thanks for sharing your travels with us
Thank you so much! I'm happy to hear it 😀
Castle Hill where the castle sits is also an extinct volcano. Another good place to hike is the Pentland hills on the southern edge of Edinburgh if that's your thing. It's a bit more hard going though so not the best if you're injured. And although it's a bit price I always reccomend tourist go to the castle at least once, not every trip but I think it's worth it.
Thank you for the tip! Now I know what I'm going to do next time I'm in Edinburgh! 😀
I’m so glad you enjoyed Edinburgh! I live here and I love it so much❤️
I'm glad you enjoyed the city! It's definitely a unique place to live or visit :)
It's stunning!
You’ve made me want to go back to Edinburgh pronto! 😊
next time youre in edinburgh you should do the isle of skye too, one of the most beautiful spots in scotland.
Love the vlogs. Edinburgh is on the bucket list. What is the name of the Scottish jig playing at 10:58 ? It had a nice upbeat to it!
When you come back try the dungeon. It’s BRILLIANT
Thank you..🌹
Oh my God, this makes me so happy!!!!! Amazing! I hope you have a wonderful time there 💛💛
@@Holetsgo I'm still here it's my last night, I return home in the morning.
@@Holetsgo And yesterday I went up to St.Anthonys Chapel.
Wow, I'm so happy to hear that. Thank you so much! I would love to visit Glasgow! 😍
I had a couple of wee drams on the way up to Arthur's Seat and one at the top then it made for an interesting walk back down but I made it
Haha, that sounds perfect 😂
I stay just 10 miles from Edinburgh but shamefully I've never climbed up Arthur's Seat. This video has totally inspired me to make the effort, so thank you. 👍
Yes, do it! You definitely won't regret it 😀
I doubt it's possible to see Norway from Arthur's Seat but, if you'd had a telescope and a great sense of direction you might have seen my house. I live on the other side of the Forth and can see Arthur's Seat from my front door. Glad you enjoyed your time in our country, haste ye back!
Mr Tumshie,,,nae fifers allowed
I want to go to Edinburgh on New Years Eve...They have a cool torchlit parade...
Thank you so much! Yes, it really was an amazing first trip as a solo traveler :) I'm sure you can! Once you're doing it, it's not scary at all!
Brilliant video, I found it really helpful! Great job :)
I'm so glad! Thank you!
Haste Ye Back! In the Summertime during the Festival.
Oh, that sounds like something I would enjoy!
A beautiful sight to behold and Edinburgh isn’t bad either 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Glad you loved our city.... come back when the Pandemics over & will take you on a proper Edinburgh day/night out! The 'dude' ... love how you explain it! 👌
Haha, thanks!! Yes, I heard it when I edited the video 😂
You should have done Arthur's Seat at dawn--it is absolutely amazing.
Really enjoyed your Edinburgh videos. I’m off there tomorrow for a meeting but have a got a few hours free afterwards so will look to see if your carrot cake is still there 😂😂🏴🏴
Did you find it? 😂
@@Holetsgo it had gone 🤣🤣🤣
Really enjoyed the vlog. 10:53 - you can see my house from there lol
Thank you! Wow, that's so cool!
Nice work 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Thank you so much, Daniele! Yes, I probably should have, but I wasn't planning on climbing Arthur's Seat 😀
Nice video.
Thank you so much, Mark! :)
Look forward to seeing more travels! xx
Aw, thank you so much! I'm so happy you think that 😊I'd love to see the Christmas Market! Maybe next year! Thank you so much for watching
Great video :)
You and I have something in common 🙈 Bad knees that trying to stop us from walking and exploring more 😂👍 I am heading to Edinburgh next week so hopefully, mine will survive the hike to the Arthur's Seat :)
Fingers crossed! Hope you have a great time 🤩
@@Holetsgo Thank you, I really hope so 🙏🏼😊🙂
Anne-Li.... when are you travelling again.... I need cheering up!!
True story. I took a Louisiana dog up Arthur's Seat at six in the morning and we bumped into two guys from the US South, with an accent from central casting, half way up.
interesting... I really do appreciate my home city.
I am glad to hear such great words said, its funny and also a bit strange watching
and listening to this young girls experience, I have had many grand walks up and down Arthur seat.
Its a great place to take in the views and get away from all the hustle n bustle.. it makes me think
about how are minds get refreshed and energised with new surrounding and how we can feel more mentally oppressed in are own city's having so many ties and experiences good and bad.
If you ever come back to Scotland, look me up. I'll show you lots of amazing places and tell you some wonderful stories about our history. X
Whelp.... that's me home sick now haha. Great video!
miss your videos you're so great
Next time you are in Edinburgh, head out South Queensferry and on into West Lothian.
I would love to go to all those places! Hopefully, I'll have more time next time I go :)
Nothing fancy aboot West Lothian I stay there noo wish I was back in Edinburgh to be honest Edinburgh is probs the best place for tourists it's a lovely gothic city best place in Scotland it's not the capital for no reason 😂
But yeah for the outlander stuff your right to be fair just not as nice
Can you direct me to the music you played while climbing Arthur’s Seat? It was pretty amazing!
Really well made video !
Thank you so much, Alan! That means a lot 💛
My home town! Great content!
Thank you!
my home is near edinburgh- ish never been to Arthur seat though
