I'm from Edinburgh, but I've always assumed that Diagon Alley was inspired by The Shambles in York, rather than Victoria St. That was impression I got when I read the first book and it was backed up the look of it in the film, when that came out a few years later.

I work for the council and today we had to drive cairn larc. It was absolutely stunning the whole way could t believe I was getting paid to drive about uk there. I said to the boy I work with you know people spend thousands of pounds and travel halfway round the world to see landscape like this and I live 3 hours away and it never crosses my mind to go take it in. This year I’m doing Scotland only holidays
The funny thing with dogs in pubs is that it was commonplace for a long time, and then we went through a long phase where most places didn't accept dogs, but in the last decade or so most places have started accepting dogs again. Dogs are always a bonus in a pub, and 99% of them are well behaved! When you come back to go to the Highlands you should go to Oban for the seafood and to visit the Isle of Mull. Don't get me wrong, the usual places like Loch Ness and Skye are totally worth a visit, but but there's loads of overlooked places too!
Glad you liked Edinburgh so much, but PLEASE pronounce it correctly. It is Edin-burrah or Edin-brruh, not Edinburrow. Also the cathedral is pronounced St Jiles not St Gillis. Just letting you know so you'll get it right if you come back.

Back in the 1970's ,The Kenilworth Bar where you had dinner was one of the first of many Gay pubs in Scotland. Scotland has always been more tolerant of differences in people than their neighbours in the south of the UK. Except in the west of Scotland in and around Glasgow where religious differences , particullarly Catholic/Protestantism have resulted in sectarianism (thankfully on the decline). I worked in Edinburgh city centre as a Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages (my old office is behind in your video at the top of Victoria Street) and I've performed many weddings like the one at the start. I love my home city and I am so pleased when visitors love it too. Thank you for all your travel videos.

It was in the Nicholson Cafe she wrote her first books. There is an interview with her from there on youtube. It is also not a cafe now.
