Just some ideas for anyone else looking to build. Since all of the fiber are running in the same direction wood glue like typebond 2 should be plenty strong to clamp the boards together. Carriage Bolt or plain bolt would work too. If you want to get fancy you can put dados with thicker splines running across. I like the steel L bar idea, and the simplistic approach to the design.
Just a tip, use some oil when drilling in to the metal. That will save you but and cut way easier
I thought of using threaded rod bolts like for fencing to snug through all 3 post w/ nuts & washers. Maybe counter sunk & capped for looks. Great ide as always (:
Good advice to save money from diy process. I can't imagine doing it myself right now due to work but definitely will visit back later on when work has slowed down.
