  • This DIY weight storage rack took me about 4-5 hours to make spread out over a weekend. In this video I'll show you how to make DIY gym equipment at home. Having a rack for my dumbbell set keeps my home gym organized. Cost of lumber was about $100. It's not very complicated, it just takes time to do everything right.

    I really like this build. I will likely copy it and even the stain too! I have a few spare hooks I'll put on the side for cable attachments. Also thought about having a barbell holder for it too so I don't have to keep it on my rack.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Glowforge interface is very user friendly. I've had my machine for 4 years now and it's still going strong. I love it. It can cut some woods that are up to 1/2" thick, it can engrave wood that is up top about 1.5". Pretty versatile. If you do buy one, use my referral code and you'll get up to $500 off depending on the model you buy. Referral code: glowforge.com/?kid=YZPNDIUF

    Hello, when you cut the 70 degree angle on the 13.5 pieces, how did you know how much to cut off? I saw in the video you were mainly doing just the edges.
    Thank you for the clarification!

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the angled parts, the measurement refers to the longest side.

    • @KaizenDIYGym

      I used 2x4s mostly, the materials are in the description of the video. The shelves are 1” thick

  • @RPDBY
    @RPDBY 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    how to cut the 13.5 inch pieces using a hand saw? I am not sure how long the pieces need to be before cutting the end at an angle

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The measurements I give are for the length of the longest side. If you’re cutting with a hand saw you can mark your angle and cut along the line. It won’t be perfect but it is possible

    Nice rack...just one question. Are you happy with the choice of 20 degrees for the dumbbells to rest on the shelves or would you suggest cutting it back to 15 degrees to prevent the dumbbells from tipping forward?

    • @KaizenDIYGym

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’d need something to keep the dumbbells from rolling around. The easiest fix could be strips of 1x1 as spacers between dumbbells

    What is the difference between a power rack and a power cage?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  ปีที่แล้ว

      The terms are used interchangeably. Power cage is more old school. Typically if you’re shopping on a website, the term power rack is what you would use to search.

    Hi, i am really inspired by your video and tutorial. i recently noticed my dumbbell rack is collapsing anytime. i guess it cannot hold the weights anymore. i just wondering how much weight can the above dumbbel rack hold? i have dumbbells up to 110lbs, can this rack hold?

    Real question, how did you do 70° angles on your miter saw?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the natural angle of the mitre saw is 90°, you can angle the blade 20° in either direction to accomplish the 70° angle.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว
