  • Tottenham's BEST performance of the season and arguably our best ever under Ange Postecoglou who masterminded a 3-1 victory over Brentford. It was a James Maddison masterclass who capped off his sensational display with a goal, as did Dominic Solanke who got his first for the club. In this video, Ben Bowman provides a tactical breakdown of Tottenham's victory over Brentford in which Ange Postecoglou changed tactics to lead us to victory. Not a good day to be an Ange doubter, mate.

How do you feel about Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham's 3-1 win over Brentford?

I think the key was that we played son more centrally. Madders was used a bit more on the left while son formed a second striker and that is really the perfect position for him.

Yep totally agree. Got Son doing what he did best. He just lacked that ruthlessness in his own game when he went through, but it was a better performance from him for sure.

My favourite goal is Johnson's. He missed one going for the far post and then shot the next one at the far post and barely got it in. Doesn't matter how confident he is feeling, his finger didn't come off the trigger. He saw the shot twice and took it twice. That is fantastic and shows you his resilience.

For me, our best player was Bentancur yesterday. The way he dealt with the brentford midfield, kept the ball well, was an outlet to relieve pressure when our midfield would get overloaded and most importantly, he was very switched on defensively. He's looking back to his best form before his injury

And how, he was dominant in that position.

    Ange made key tweaks yesterday.

He did indeed, but he “doesn’t adapt”

@@BenBowman_ I've been saying this for ages. He tweaked things last season too but no one wanted to hear it. Now the tweaks are slightly more obvious, still being are being obtuse because they don't like Ange. Our fanbase is just annoying.

    • @cftpafan

Exactly. Ange believes in his philosophy but is willing to make tweaks to assure it’s implemented how it should be. When we do it right, it kills.

Loved seeing that tactic switch allowing Porro and Udoige the width. Now teams have to worry about both which only makes us more dangerous. Extremely impressed with the press yesterday. Solanke excellent as the tip of the spear and loved him dropping off and allowing runners to play off of him. Good improvement, still ways to go but great response. Son is working his tail off but feel like father time is starting to catch up in terms of 1v1’s. Biss is going to be so important during the Bentacur ban. Needs to stay disciplined. Overall step forward for the boys and Ange

Agree mate, thought they also played a little deeper as well as wider. Pressing was absolutelt superb. Absolutely still a way to go and improvements to be made, but just got to be patient and stick with it.

@@BenBowman_ Agreed. The style of that game was opposite to what everyone thought which was strange. Thought Gray looked more comfortable in his short cameo after midweek. We are moving in the right direction just keep building

A few frustrating moments from players throughout the game, other than that, outstanding performance. Leaps and bounds improved from last year, even before this game, once we start consistently scoring we are going to be a force.

You could argue the conversion rate hasnt change much from earlier games but we definitely created much higher quality opportunities, resulting in goals.

I Still think on another day it couldve been a draw if brentford couldve finished better but on the flip side we couldve beaten them by more goals. I love Ange but we need to be more controlling and not give so many chances.

    • @BenBowman_
      @BenBowman_  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

Of course, but you could say that on the flip side about the other games we've played this season. On another day we beat Newcastle, Arsenal and Leicester. We've controlled pretty much every game but had less possession yesterday, was a clear tactical plan from Ange to let them have it and pounce on their slow build up.

Oh how we needed that. What a refreshing performance. This maddison-kulusevski midfield dynamic is working a treat as well. Hopefully we kick on from here now.
