    A couple of things: 1. we have got to be able to make changes to the squad, particularly against lower level cup competition. Those squad players have got to take their chance when it is given to them. 2. I do not understand the hate that Kulu gets from our fans. It makes me mental. I don't consider myself a football savant, but I do not understand how our fanbase does not see his quality. He is undroppable for me.

    Coventry Manager Mark Robins after the game, "I think they are really well managed by the way. I think he is a top manager, Ange.
    The way they play is a really good way of playing, which will bring them good results, but that’s the nature of where we are in life really. People want everything yesterday and it’s ridiculous really."

    You stand high above the community madness with your insight. We are in a very tricky place, where only Deci and Porro offer the consistency we need from our senior players. Madders, Son and Romero need to do more and be much better to allow this young team to thrive.
    I totally agree with you about last night. We go again in the next round happy to avoid the banana skin. Cup football is never plain sailing whatever team you put out, but we got through it and gave players time on the pitch who haven't had a chance yet.
    We have to back Ange and give this season the same patience we had last season. New players take time to settle, and we're still rebuilding

    Ange was in a tough spot trying to get players game time. And when you have 3 young players that need to play for development (gray playing out of position) and solanke that have just come to the club and are trying to learn anges positional style and sarr, Werner and bentancur who arent in good form. It was always going to be a bit of a struggle/shambles but again what do you do not play the young ones and stunt there development not play sarr who needs games to try and build confidence/ time to regain form.

    • @irod1324
      @irod1324 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Definitely in a tough spot, but it had to be done. If we are going to be in anyway competitive in both the Prem and Europa, as well as cups, we need to get these bench and young players up to speed as soon as possible.
      While there were plenty of rusty and dusty players in that lineup, it was still a lineup mainly made up of very experienced senior players: Solanke, Werner, Bentancur, Sarr, Davies, Udogie, Forester
      Even when looking at the younger guys out there, we've got Gray who is an experienced championship player that has faced Coventry multiple times. Radu, who many fans have been begging to see more of, and who is not lacking in experience himself. Then Bergval, who although lacked for exposure at this level, was one of the bright spots in that starting 11.
      Coventry are no slouch and this was never going to be an easy game, but that starting 11 when playing at their potential, could look like a drastically different side.
      Everyone is singing Kulucevski's praises now, but there were countless times last season when fans were very critical of his poor performances. He has shown a massive amount of growth in a short period, and many of our other players are going to do the same. But, this is a process and is going to be bumpy at times while we get there.

    I'm not Ange out yet but its worrying the lack of player buy in onfield. The team isnt working together as a team and they look unhappy. There's a lack of creativity and dare. Ange looks bloody miserable as well so there are some major problems down there. The club doesnt look cohesive and happy. Ange is starting to make too many rookie errors with team selection. His stubborness is gonna be his downfall imo. In saying that whoever is doing the recruitment at the club should be shown the door as there is too many average players brought in on big fees.

    • @rcr03
      @rcr03 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuperBromberg i'd say it's because everyone has learnt our system. Those first 10 games teams didn't know what to expect. Now they just sit back and hit us in the counter. Even championship teams figured it out. This is because ange doesn't change tactics making him predictable. You know the full backs are going to invert, wingers stay wide etc. Not to mention this system doesn't suit the players like sonny or johnson

    Usually agree with all of your analysis, but I think you missed the fact that both goals were the most Angeball patterns of play this season, full back running intomspacemin the box from inverted midfield and pressing to win back ball and attack right away...lots of hope but need to start Kulu in Europe

    • @Flynnly
      @Flynnly หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly, not to use the term like everybody, but those patterns of play that led to the goals were "prime angeball", to play this way the team needs to be brave, it feels like the team learnt the system and then said okay, we know what to do, all good let's just autopilot. We need to be brave.

    @ryancouture1436 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good show, Ben. Appreciate your analysis and approach. Agree that there was a massive shift when our 1st team joined the attack... which is a bit concerning. This system requires highlevel adaptability ala Madders, Kulu and Sonny, that we have yet to see from the bench. I love Ange, but am concerned that his system is a bit too complex for the players we have. Too many variables, and too much improvisation. I'm hopeful he can develop these attributes into the squad, but recognize that this sort of football IQ, at the highest level inaworld, is not necessarily something you can teach every player. As far as Kulu is concerned I think we could play him anywhere across the front, as long as those around him can be as flexible as he is with their movement and approach. If we need to play more mechanically due to the challenges of the other attackers, I believe Kulu centrally in the 8 & 10, or striker if Solanke/Richie not available.

  • @KizitoKizito-d2x
    @KizitoKizito-d2x หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love the way kulu plays takes risks with passes and shots thats what gives us wins he has that winning mentality our tactics makes our players underperform the way our
    high line is it makes it harder for our players to shine like they did at their past clubs which is worrying the
    high line needs to go down for our tactics to work cuz to me the tactical setting is genius 👌 if you think about it but the line has to go down for all the movement and penetration to work
    Cuz if our line goes down the opposition must come to mark the
    Defenders opening up space for players to pass this is all we need

    I want Kulu in midfield with Maddison and either Gray Bergvall or Bissouma at No.6. Bentancur can be subbed in for Maddison or Kulu if they get tired later in the game. On the wings Son and Johnson and Solanke up top. Van Der ven and Romero seem irreplaceable with Udogie and Porro as wingbacks. Spence is a good back up as either wingback. Vicario must start with Austin as the back up. Sorry but Forster scares the sh** out of me every time he touches the ball.

Too many fans are just getting wildly angry at the manager and the players which is destroying the confidence of the team as a whole (ie Johnson). We learned that when we actually move the ball fast and with purpose we are dangerous and create chances , instead of that slow passing round the back coming out slow allowing teams to get back into there defensive shape. like we did early on when Ange took over quick one and two touch passes going forward. most teams you watch attack with pace and purpose , direct . we have decided that`s not for us for some reason . we need to get back to the fast moving ball quick movement of players then he system works

    The most worrying thing about that game was less about the quality (because it’s always going to be impacted by fringe players and lots of changes), but more about the obvious lack of commitment and body language of the team as a whole. No intensity, no desire, no personality. Incredibly passive and soft bellied. Where are the leaders, where is the desire to win duels, to dominate 50/50s. Really worrying.

    The inability to play through the lines, especially fluidy around the box has been a huge problem for most of the postecoglu era. I remember seeing it first against our late 2-1 win against Sheffield utd at the start of last season. Quickly a lot of teams started to sit deeper against us.
    At celtic he was reliant on the wingers isolating the full back and winning their 1 v 1's, but at this level defences block deep and narrow, so even if the fullback is beaten there's no space for the winger to move into. I'm not postecoglu out but he's ignorantly stubborn. The system needs serious adaptation to work.

Johnson can't do it, Son can't do it, Werner can't do it, Kulusevski can't do it, Odobert a huge "?" and now crocked with an injury. Johnson and Son are best suited to systems that counter-attack where they can run onto the ball. Johnson looks dangerous every time he's in that situation --case in point his goal. When we have the ball and are dominating possession , this system requires two "touchline wingers" who can dribble 1v1. We simply don't have those players. Werner's loan should be terminated in January and we need to go back into the market looking for players suited to this system.

    and the risky playing out the back from the keeper shit definitely needs to go

    Werner is the MVP as he got injured at the right time and Brennan was sub in to score the winner for us. 😜😜

    I've watched loads of post match reactions and in nearly every one of them the host/hosts are criticising every decision Ange is making and it is not just this match . you all keep saying ''I'm not Ange out'' imo. everybody is frightened to admit to themselves Ange and ''Angeball'' is not working. Ange himself has said he won't change I believe he can't change. I would be lining up Thomas Frank if I was DL.

    My issue with Ange was not only did he make too many changes, he keeps playing players out of position. Why didn’t Spence start on the right and grey in CM ? How can you judge players when they aren’t in their preferred positions. Proper frustrating

    You cannot play such a high line at the back if you are going to start slow players. It was too easy to play through balls and their quick players getting there first.

    • @irod1324
      @irod1324 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Slower players at the back is a non issue when there is more cohesion in the mid field and up front. When those areas of the field are firing and we are able to complete progressive passing without losing possession, we could have someone in the back with Dier's pace and it wouldn't be a complete disaster.

    Forster is fukn terrible. Werner awful. Sarr awful. We need to play Bergval at 8 and Kulu at 10. Solanke awful. Why haven't we got a better backup keeper? We need Richie back fit as Solanke looks like a bad buy.

      Solanke got 0 service whatsoever last night. He's not been awful at all.

      @@BenBowman_ It's not a Solanke issue, at least not yet. Plain to see the issue is with the wide players.

    Bit hypocritical to say you liked Bergvall dropping in to the 6 but when Maddison does it he’s slowing us down and is criticized, doesn’t really make sense to me 😅
    On to Brentford now COYS

    Why do Spurs always hire coaches with a rigid formation? All the best coaches change based on opponent! We are the only team who hire these people

    The catalyst for Spurs coming back from the dead was firstly The Jedi and then Kulu. Both showed they have the eye of the tiger and a will to win. Despite AnGes crap system of play. Theses 2 boys step up. Plenty of respect to Brennan he showed his courage with that goal after the abuse.
