    I like the camera on the chest it make it so much smoother watching. Maybe those are those solar tiles on the houses as they are not covering the entire roof from what I'm seeing.

    Tom, If you ever get a chance to circle the Great Lakes. Since you are now an experienced rider in sand. I'd recommend taking the bike early in the morning into Ludington State park , north of Ludington, MI . Without camping there, you could bike in from outside of the park, by parking the road trek on the west side of M116 south of the gate, then just biking straight past the gated booth, there is a bike lane/shoulder that's passable on bike 24/7.) Find your way to the Pines campground and the opening to a two track/gated road to the Big Sable light house . It's about a 1.5 mile two track that's surprisingly sandy (with drifted dune sand). It's well worth the trip up that roadway on a nice morning. (the lighthouse doesn't open till 10 AM if you want to climb the stairs to the 90 foot tower for a commanding view of the lake). But early in the morning before the smell of wood fire and bacon starts wafting through the campground loops it's as peaceful a place as you'll find in an established state park.. The alternate route to the lighthouse (you can't bike it) is to walk from their spectacular beach house area Northbound about 1.5 miles along the lake shore , generally you have that area completely to your self and it does require a tiny bit of thigh deep wading in to lake Michigan to traverse the way up the lakeshore depending on how high the lake is at that time of year. Nothing dangerous but you'll get wet for sure.. After you visit the lighthouse area, You'll be tempted to take the Lighthouse foot trail through the dunes to do some hiking. DO NOT take the lighthouse trail back to the Campground area unless you are slathered in DEET or really want to get eaten by bugs (maybe go 1/4 mile in and turn around ). but the sandy two track to the lighthouse taken on foot or by bike is really a very pleasant scenic walk, not too buggy and a great ride early in the morning on a sunny day when unexpectedly the lighthouse pops into view in between and over the sand dunes.. The park also has paved trails that lead to and through three campgrounds (each unique) and to Hamlin beach on the eastern edge of the park(canoe , paddleboat, kayak rentals) then over the river and a dam (fishing) and then down a somewhat steep hill into a semi forested area along side the river . Be careful of two things 1) the down hill southern side of the river paved/trex type trail can get slippery with fungus and or fallen leaves, 2) watch out for deer on the trails near the campground loops , I've actually road biked around a curve and collided with a doe. (it's a female deer) standing in a drop of golden sun. M116 has wide shoulders all the way from Ludington up to the park, So you could easily park your bike a Stearns beach in Ludington(free) and cycle the 8 miles or so up to the park (it's mostly flat with some scenic cut outs). (also farther north near Empire , MI bike the Pierce Stocking roadway in Sleeping Bear National park, again try to do that on an early morning ride, it's spectacular in the fall but great any time on a nice sunny day and if your ticker can handle it try climbing the dunes to the lake , that is also a really nice scenic view.( bring water/sunscreen /snacks..).

    Awesome job! Glad you deflated a little cause that front tire will want to dig into that sand as you found out. Put more of your weight to the back if you can. That helps ALOT. Get some armor!

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure why front wheel drive would be safer. At the power levels of typical hub drives they don't have enough torque to spin the wheels.

    How is your cats life in the van? I want to do this, but think my cats quality of life would be shit confined to a small vehicle.

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cats aren't dogs, nor are they people. My cat spent his entire life indoors sleeping in confined spaces such as boxes or under blankets. The few hours he is awake he eats, poops, scratches, and craves attention. All of his needs are met so I guess you have to ask him.

    I don't remember if you mentioned if you had shock absorbers on that bike, I have them on my bike (not e-bike) and love em. What a rush I just got watching you ride that on gravel road... You every go on an uphill with that e-bike? What a rush I get going on an uphill grade on my horse. if your ever in NE. let me know , take you on a horse ride , ever rode a horse before?

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has front spring shocks but no rear. The 3" tires provide most of the cushion. Yes, I did a few videos where I climbed steep hills. I've ridden horses before too. I always seem to get ornery ones.

      It took him several weeks to consider the van home. Not too bad considering he was an indoor cat that only rode in a car a few times to the vet.

    Is that all state trust land or is there BLM land mixed in? I don't have access to a printer in my van so I can't print out a state trust permit for the area around lake havasu.
    What part of the semi needs to drop the third axle, the truck or the trailer? I didn't understand that part.

    • @HOBOTECH

      Both. You can print the permit at just about any mail box or print shop. Axle drop is on the semi. If you check out my Instagram I have a photo of a semi converted into a Super C with the axle drop.

    • @eli1214
      @eli1214 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Under Arizona law, motorized electric bicycles and tricycles meeting the definition under the applicable statute are not subject to title, licensing, insurance, or registration requirements, and may be used upon any roadway authorized for use by conventional bicycles, including use in bike lanes integrated with motor vehicle roadways. Unless specifically prohibited, electric bicycles may be operated on multi-use trails designated for hiking, biking, equestrian, or other non-motorized usage, and upon paths designated for the exclusive use of bicycles. No operator's license is required, but anyone operating a bicycle on Arizona roads must carry proof of identity. A "motorized electric bicycle or tricycle" is legally defined as a bicycle or tricycle that is equipped with a helper motor that may be self-propelled, which is operated at speeds of less than twenty miles per hour. Electric bicycles operated at speeds of twenty miles an hour or more, but less than twenty-five miles per hour may be registered for legal use on the roadways as mopeds, and above twenty-five miles per hour as a registered motorcycle with an 'M' endorsement on the operator's driving license. However, mopeds in Arizona are prohibited from using bike lanes on motor vehicle roadways. The Arizona statute governing motorized electric bicycles does not prohibit local jurisdictions from adopting an ordinance that further regulates or prohibits the operation of motorized electric bicycles or tricycles.

    • @eli1214
      @eli1214 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So under 20 w/pedals it’s a bike, over 20 it’s a moped, over 25 it’s a motorcycle. Regardless of motor size.

    • @AsTheWheelsTurn
      @AsTheWheelsTurn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eli Westphal Well I live here and I have an electric bicycle that goes over 25 mph and I’ve never had any kind of ticket or gotten grief as long as you’re not like right up in the road with cars there’s not a problem. Also staying at a reasonable speed when you are on bike paths with other bicyclists will keep you from getting in trouble and just using basic common sense people who get tickets riding electric bicycles are usually doing something stupid there is no way for a cop to know how fast your bicycle goes unless you fly Past a cop doing something stupid to catch attention like cutting through traffic or cutting across the middle of a busy road

      @@HOBOTECH I did some reading and it seems like the law has caught up the electric bikes here In Sweden since your build would be classified as a 'motorised' bike, i.e. a moped, and thus require ensurance, number plate (restricted to 45 km/h ~28mph). The electric motor cant exceed 250 Watts and only be used to help when pedalling (and it cant give any Power supply over speeds of 25 km/h ~ 15,5 mph) to avoid ensurances and some extra restrictions (helmet obligation etc).
