      Fantastic job. Between this Pilot and the first series Y'all Have Grown a lot. The pacing and shots in the first series are prefect. All the actors have definitely grown. Wish I was in AU, I would love to be on this show.

      Currently still a Harvey Norman employee and this is so true it hurts. I want it to be picked up and broadcast on mainstream tv so it reaches the biggest possible audience and maybe just maybe a few people won't be such bitches when they're coming into our stores.

      People will probably be all uppity, roughly the same happened when a salesman at Jaycar got caught venting on a cam corder they sold and he forgot to wipe the vent, made the news and everything and they just ridiculed the salesman.
      I've been there too and I currently work for a call center, you think the pulc are stupid assholes to retail staff, try getting them on the other end of the phone when they don't even have to look someone in the eye before they proceed to be entitled dirt bags

    That scene with the woman and her "faulty" camera was like reliving a horrid moment in a video game store. Lady wanted a refund for a PS4. She dropped off the PS4 and the wires, but no box or receipt. She also forgot to return the controller that came with it. She then stated it didn't work, but the guys made it work. She then pulled out a disc and said that the PS4 only worked for some games that her son and daughter would play. She pulled out a handful of xbox 360 games and said that they didn't work on the PS4. I was trying out the demo for a Japanese RPG and I was hearing the nonsense that came from this woman. She couldn't get a return because there was no box or receipt so she wanted an exchange which they couldn't do. woman asked for the manager, but she was talking to the manager the entire time.

    You guys need to do an episode where the manager and supervisor run around with their heads cut off , hyperventilating , because they have just received an email that the "area" manager is coming in. Make it where the manager/supervisor both frantically round up the staff and get them to tidy up the place and merchandise everything....... then when the "area" manager is visiting they take all the credit LOL.

    • @arianamaria_
      @arianamaria_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the time there's not a significantly cheaper price it's just that if you say you saw a $800 computer for $750 up the road sometimes you get the overzealous guys who says I'll give you $675 with free installation. It's basic psychology of economics. It's like how people lowball to get the compromise as low as possible

Reminds me why I hate my job. Although I do get the satisfaction of saying "actually I'm the manager" when they ask for one. They're always surprised I'm a girl. I know that feeling. I spent 10 minutes arguing with a guy that I couldn't return his item with no receipt and for no reason, call a manager, she calls me on the 2 way and says just return it. Old mate says 'see you don't even know policies, you've just wasted 20 minutes of my fucking time' I say yeah, we'll see those great big signs in every aisle saying no receipt, no cash refunds? And the sticker on every till? Well that's policy. It's managers discretion and she's decided she can't be stuffed to come down here and back me up, so you get a refund, you've wasted my time by not reading and buying something you don't really want. Fuck retail man, it would be an awesome job if there was no customers.

    • @Hawkshadow56
      @Hawkshadow56 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      We have that issue a lot where we follow policy, but the managers in our store are giant pushovers and will overrule it all the time. So if we do it without them we get in trouble, but the managers always overrule it and make us look like jerks. One of my biggest problems at my job. I work at a large hardware store where most of our customers are regulars, so it's not as if I won't see them again the next day.

    • @musichealseveryone
      @musichealseveryone 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hawkshadow56 I'm a retail manager, and we're told to "make the exception" when the customer is making a scene. When I was first promoted, I had to have a training session with other managers, and a corporate official told us that if we got a corporate complaint about ANYTHING, they would always take the customer's side, so they said we ALWAYS had to do what the customers wanted if they continued to argue. I hate it so much :/

    As an electroworld customer I just want to say that my toaster is still not toasting on both sides and I just want a refund plus compensation for the money I've spend going to and from the store to try to get a refund and a new loaf of bread. It's just not good enough, I'm a single mum who just doesn't have time in the day to deal with uneven toast and my kids are getting really annoyed because my iPad broke too and now I can't parent them and I can't even get a refund because apparently my warranty doesn't cover the iPad being submerged in off milk?????? What about consumer law and a current affair?????????????

    After having worked at Best Buy for so many years (at different levels and in different divisions), I can say that this is spot-on what it’s like from the retail side of things. And Shaun’s heartfelt dialogue at the end-about how the job keeps a roof over the heads of his family...that hits me right in the feels every time I watch it. This show is absolutely superb. Both seasons are fantastic and I look forward to seeing where it heads in the future. Oh, and Darren is hands-down my favorite on this show.

    I used to work at a store a couple of years ago, a costumer once came into the store and handed me the toaster she bought 1/2 days ago (I remember her dumb ass clearly). She said the following: ''i DEMAND a refund'' NOTE: She came in furious/screaming.
    i asked her why. She said ''It doesn't even do what it supposed to do'' . . . Turns out, this bitch tried to ''toast'' eggs in it.. Wh- who the fu- WHAT DOES THAT EVE- what do i even do? I clearly was talking to an ape. This bitch went on and cracked eggs into those toaster that you only put breads in, push down the button and let it ''toast'' The toaster had egg stain, burnt and stuck in it, she was thinking that the eggs would cook in there, and when its done, it will just pop/jump up like it would with a bread. WTF! DO I EVEN DO. I said something horrible to her, called her bunch of shit...she went to the manager, and said what i said to her, then i said that i didn't say it...It triggered her hard at that point. I didn't get fired. But dumb bich.

    This pilot is great, and I laughed a lot. Looking forward to season 1! However I noticed that the only female representation you had was two bitching counter girls and one salesperson, who was introduced into the show with the implication that she'd slept with another employee. This isn't a problem as long as you also give them roles beyond these, but this pilot did not show any other role for these characters.
    I've worked in electronics retail for the past 3 years, and not once did I see a female employee do nothing but bitch at the counter. They also encounter exactly the same problems as shaun does in this pilot: terrible customers, unreasonable work expectations, and bosses with no backbone. Please don't fall in to the same habits as other shows, and have the only roles for females be bitching and being romantic interests.

    So accurate, I died a little inside! 16 years in retail, from HJ's cook to department stores to managing my own jewellery store and I can honestly say this is exactly what it's like! The majority of customers are ok, then you get the horrible ones but occasionally you'll get someone that gets it - has worked in retail for years themselves - and you spend the whole time laughing and joking around with them. They're the ones that make you think maybe you can keep dealing with everyone else's shit when you were ready to quit half an hour ago. Top work, team!

      Housing in Australia (especially in Melbourne as thatch where this is shot) costs from 500k-800k minimum depending on how far you live from the city. A house like that in the suburbs would look to be around 1 million. Minimum wage in Melbourne is $18 an hour but working in retail someone his age would look to get $25ish full time. Hope this helps.

    Ryan Chamley, you must have worked in retail. You are spot on with all this. Staff are undermined by Supervisors/ managers and Head Office ALL the time. Makes you feel less than useless, and so undermined, when you try to stick to Company Policy, just to have them tell you to "keep the customer happy and do the refund or exchange". Or Management don't back you when rude customers treat you like shit! Arrrrggghhhh. Paul Moore is brilliant and captures the frustration and disappointment of the job. Thank goodness I'm now doing what I am meant to be doing, as a HMUA, and not in retail any more. Worst job EVER!!

    I have been waiting so long for someone to make something like this within the retail realm. This is amazingly accurate yet it also adds enough lighthearted humour to keep it from feeling too much like our retail job. The scene at the end is sadly very true to many people who work and hate their retail jobs but are forced to keep at it for their families. Can't wait to see more, absolutely loved watching this!

    I've worked in an electrical retail store for 10 years. This is a genuine day to day experience, it is terrifyingly accurate. The thing about this that worrys me is that this show is making fun of retail, to me it is just a normal day. As far as the customer sketch goes, that isnt an over exaggeration its actually normal.
    This is amazing and so accurate I cant wait for more!
