- If you've already tried WD40 and different size Allen keys and torx bits and you're a 100% positive the screw is stripped these are the necessary steps in order to remove the shower handle so that the cartridge can be replaced. This technique works on most shower handles even though the brands may vary. This one is a Kohler shower valve

Thanks! All I needed to hear was "... chances are if you're watching this video you already stripped it.." 🤣🤣🤣💯
Thanks dude. Gave me the courage to drill out and replace. Fininshed, replaced and no leaks. Thanks!
Nice job!
Perfect video! You covered everything I needed to know I won’t be watching another one.
Thank you
The torx t-10 worked perfectly Thank you
just drilled out my screw worked like a charm,, changed my cartridge, no more leaks thanks man!
did you have to use a new trim? any chance to keep using the old trim/handle?
Thank you so much - I tried the star attachment and it worked - saved me some drilling!!!
Yes, thank you! You have the best video on this subject! I haven't found one yet that tells me as much as you do, thanks so much!
Thanks!
Thanks for making such helpful videos!
thanks for watching
I love your videos. It helped me
Great work, and video!
Bro, thank you for this!
Thank you bro! Really really helpful
Thanks for the great video!! To me T-10 and WD-40 did the trick. I did not have to drill.
Very informative. Thank you. This was a big help!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. This was Thorough!
thanks!
Bro..thank you very much!!
Lifesaver. Thanks
Thank you so much
Finally got it out with a pliers holding the allen wrench. NOW I cannot get the next screw out. Phillips screw won't budge. House is 9 years old. My faucet was MOEN so it is not the same as this one.
Thank you! I have a Kohler memoir shower handle with a stripped screw. My plumber said I can’t use any other trim but the same “Kohler memoir,” and that I should buy a new memoir handle. Do you know if this is true? It uses a GP77759 rite temp valve. Basic question- can I switch out the memoir for another trim- thanks!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Can I use this brute force pulling technique if I have the screw (7/64" allen) drilled out using a 7/32" bit, but want to reuse the cartridge? Everything is working fine for me I just want to change out the trim kit.
where did you get the chrome collar or sleeve that goes one before you attach the handle?
Did you put the drill in reverse or forward to drill
out the handle? Thanks
Awesome 👌
😂hi my name is David…I’m sitting here like “why yes it is”
If no MOEN or Kohler listed on the device... how do I know what parts to get!?
The next size up from 1/8 is 5/32.
Hey so i drilled ALL the way through it, but its still stuck and i don't wanna pull too hard on it to bend the copper
David...perfect channel for me... Thomas

No bs I have to get to the anti scolding screw on mine but will have to replace the handle and everything like this video. What are the chances I come across a live and a no bs channel I've been needing in the same night. I should get a prize. Lol
Are you drilling clockwise or counter-clockwise?
Did you mean 5/32 drill bit? You said "7/32 which isn't right after the 1/8th". But I think you meant 5/32 because 1/8th is equal to 4/32.
Did you figure out what size to use?
@@Gee391I used a 5/32 but I ended up drilling out the threads on the handle so I had to replace them. Luckily the one I was replacing was only $40 for a pair
The bathroom has two matching sinks, so I bought a matching replacement. Otherwise I would have went for a different brand. I have had other issues with delta faucets, so I would not recommend. My other faucet seems to be impossible to open, and delta has provided me with information that doesn't work. Tried all the tools, but it's designed in a way that I can't get a good hold on it, nor is it clear exactly how to take it apart.
I considered buying two separate faucets so that I wouldn't have to deal with delta issues again.
Great info... Thanks
I used my Gerber multi tool, Comes with an array of attachments. Super convenient
at :55 if you turn off the water you can turn the handle upwards and see what you are drilling
Great video, thank you !
I’m replacing a Moen 1225 cartridge. The problem I’m having is I cannot remove the stop tube. I understand that they just pull straight out, and I’ve tried using pliers to pull it out and tapping on it with a screwdriver handle to loosen it. It won’t budge. Any ideas?
Same problem I’m having. Were you able to figure it out?
@@AA_xo Yes, finally. I walked away from it and went back later in the day and sprayed WD-40 inside copiously. After that a couple yanks with the channel locks was able to get it off. I think it was a combination of having pulled on it earlier and the WD-40 together. Another suggestion I got from people at Moen after the fact (after it was already removed) was to use a mixture of white vinegar and water and spray it in there because they thought the culprit was probably lime, and the vinegar will take care of the lime. The key is knowing that it does just pull straight out, so you just need to get it loose without breaking your pipe. If it doesn’t come right off after spraying it, spray it and wait a few hours. Let the stuff do it’s job.
@@radradrad thank you so much for the quick and detailed response! I don’t have wd-40 so I’ll try the vinegar and water out. If that doesn’t work I’ll get some wd-40 lol. Thanks again 😊
@@AA_xo My pleasure.
@@radradrad just an update, tapping on it with the back of a screwdriver worked! It came right off. I’ll tackle removing the cartridge tomorrow 🤞
Fancy little screw driver
i love it!
Wow
Do NOT "just use brute force." When you break a pipe, you will wish you were more careful. This Carhartt warrior got lucky.
❤
Funny, I just had to put the handle screw back in mine… how does it wiggle out 🧐
Usually they corrode in place!
I cannot get this handle off. Gonna sledge hammer it and deal with the consequences
Please wear goggles when drilling!!
Didn’t help.
