A little bit mistake about why Bajie can’t stay with her. It wasn’t because they are yaoguais but because Bajie was cursed as a punishment for his crime. His punishment is suffering love tragedy for 1000 lifetimes. That curse still persists, or he would already be back at the celestial court. In some version, Bajie is just his 500th reincarnation. It never ends well when Bajie found actual love, be it for him, his love, or both of them. He can have the best life, but when he found love, his life usually ends. It is the reason why he never acknowledge the Sixth Sister as his daughter. Having a family would resulted in them getting affected by the curse or punishment from the celestial court. The ending AMV is pretty interesting. Both Violet Spider and Bajie are soul mates and destined to meet and fall in love in every reincarnation but it will always end in tragedy. Bajie knows this so he doesn’t want her to suffer for/with him anymore. Violet Spider also knows this but she perseveres and wants to be with him no matter the suffering. This is not accurate to the source material but a very interesting spin on Bajie story and gives him much more depth. Also, Bajie left his prized possession, the “Preservation Orb”, at her grave.
And what sucks is that from JTTW to BMW Bajie I think didn't die so if he's at 500 reincarnations, he still has 500 more and he's been alive for the past 500 years in that version of himself since BMW apparently starts 500 years after Wukong dies.
True. I also think the game devs would not allow the highest deities to be portrayed as having such relationships, as it doesn't align with the cultural point of view.
Isn’t Journey To the West partially a criticism of the Ming Dynasty and its flaws which includes incompetent and corrupt nobles? Like the character of Sanzang was meant to be a representation of the incompetent Ming noble who puts more effort in enforcing rules than fixing problems? It makes sense if the Jade Emperor here is meant to represent emperors having unfaithful affairs and punishing people who call them out on it
This is the best and most detailed breakdown out of all of them! Very accurate and you even show the Yao Guais in their 1986 JTTW counterparts! Very well done! I look forward to the next chapters!
the story is dark and full of nuances. it can be interpreted as story about struggle of those who couldn't escape their fate/destiny of being pawn on chessboard played by the higher power.
Definitely my favorite Chapter and the peak of the game for me, it also has the Yellow Loong and Scorpionlord boss fights which taught me how to properly play the game.
Great Video!! I wonder where the theory about the Webbed hollow being a celestial pill farm comes from. I found little to nothing in the story and character descriptions. The only indicator seems to be that 4th sister was turned into a golden pill to be held hostage. Which also brings me to the theory that she may hold some romantic significance to Wukong or the Destined one, or so I've heard before. Another theory can't find evidence to back up. Anyone got info on this?
Right there is no clear evidences just pieces by pieces of info: My other theory is Xiwangmu want to create more weaving yaoguai to support her business or hobbies in weaving and clothing. But that's purpose seems too lowly for a highest deity like Xiwangmu. This only makes sense If my theory that Violet Spider are the Purple Fairy are true (7 Fairies are daughters of Xiwangmu). Maybe she want to do it for the sake of her daughter now have abandon fairy place, not have to live in poverty. Violet Spider mention she had to eat her previous sisters to survive after being killed by the journeyers, this anger Xiwangmu and she hold grudge againts Sun Wukong and now the Destined One. This theory is too complicated compare to the "Pill Farm" one so I choose to put it up first.
Actually for the Bajie part, turning into a pig is part of the punishment. The got banished by the celestial court to turn into a pig and sent to the mortal world.
Does that mean the pill we find after the fight with the Supreme inspector is the 4th sister? If that's true then Damn bro. She saves us and we eat her. I hope that's not the case.
A bit of contradiction there when you said love is forbidden in the heavens but Ba Jie still falls in love with Chang er or jade rabbit then openly chase after her. If it's forbidden they could of gotten rid of Ba Jie a lot earlier. Likely explanation is he saw something he shouldn't have something scandalous.
Great vid as usual but I think theres a very important detail missing. In the game Bajie mentions to Violet Spider that he spared her life when Wukong asked him to deal with the spiders. This tells us that he only spared her life because he recognised her as the celestial fairy and they rekindled and started a romantic affair. The affair leads to the birth of the youngest spider children which is heavily implied to be Bajie's daughter with Violet Spider. In the final scene of chapter 4's ending where we see Bajie wake up. He sees the JTTW party then he looks back to the Webbed Hollow village before joining the party once again. At that moment Bajie has to make a decision, give into his base desires that got him exiled from heaven by choosing a life of lust and love by staying at Webbed Hollow with Violet Spider, or continue his journey of self betterment. By choosing to continue the journey Bajie showed he has evolved as a character and overcome his prior shortcomings.

Thank you so much for clearing up and pointing out the problems with the Jade Emperor theory. It never really made that much sense to me.

This is the best and most detailed breakdown out of all of them! Very accurate and you even show the Yao Guais in their 1986 JTTW counterparts! Very well done!
I look forward to the next chapters!
Thank you! That’s really encouraging!
Thanks a lot! Finally somebody dives into the interesting and difficult lore instead of ranking armors and builds.
Glad that you enjoyed it!
The Bajie and spider lady love story is so said. And you explained it so well...
if I had a nickle for every time I've thought "I ship the spider and the pig* in my life, I'd have two nickles. the other time was charlottes web.
Excellent! Perfect timing! Just completed Chapter 4 and here we are, a new video! Keep it up!
Thank you! Glad that you enjoy it!

This really a long chapter. Thanks for your support!
Love everything, even your poster 🫶🏻
Wow. My sincere thanks!
I’m really impressed by the storytelling in Black Myth: Wukong.
Lust is fleeing. Wise word, I will follow this.
the story is dark and full of nuances. it can be interpreted as story about struggle of those who couldn't escape their fate/destiny of being pawn on chessboard played by the higher power.
Just finished chapter 4. Thanks a lot for the amazing lore and theories. Great story telling
Glad you enjoy it!
Amazing story and even more amazing explanation.
Definitely my favorite Chapter and the peak of the game for me, it also has the Yellow Loong and Scorpionlord boss fights which taught me how to properly play the game.
FYI if you don't attack the scorpion lord's alcohol barrels, he will help you fight the Duskveil and drop some extra dialogue
Even if you break his barrels then die… then go to duskveil, he still appears and fights. Just don’t beat him and he shows up
hell yeah new video
wake up babe williamsweeb solved another chapter lore
This really a long chapter. Thanks for your support!
For the bajie and violet spider part, in Chinese, spider is 蜘蛛, which has the same pronunciation as 知猪, which means knowing the pig.
Been waiting for this!!
Im waiting for this 😄 thx man
You are welcome! Thank you!!!

@@Williamsweebhighly recommend doing a video on the details about the Fourth Sister, it’s fascinating

been waiting for thisss
I’m enjoying these so much
Thank you
You're welcome
Wasn’t that the second not the fourth sister?
Does that mean the pill we find after the fight with the Supreme inspector is the 4th sister? If that's true then Damn bro. She saves us and we eat her. I hope that's not the case.
I hope not. Though it does say those pills are from Tushita Palace, where the Eight Trigrams Furnace is.
Can you brief more about the fourth sister and who saved us at the end from the spider avalanche
I honestly cant tell if this is an AI voice anymore
I thought the crane would be the Immortal zhenyuan daxian
Where is chapter 5
