Knock Shrine is a Catholic pilgrimage site in Ireland, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in 1879 and was witnessed by about 15 people, this happened shortly after Ireland suffered from a brutal famine that reduced the population of the county by about half through starvation and emigration, to this day Ireland population has not reached the same number as lived in Ireland before this famine.
