He has NEVER done his own laundry nor has ever Cooked Dinner, in his 58 years of life...BUT - he does everything else...cleans bathrooms, does dishes, takes care of the pool and our landscaping...makes coffee EVERY morning...works full time, and says Let's Order In! Does most of the driving, mows lawns, takes out trash...so it is a Partnership. and we all pitch in!

Great video as always. I have four sons, all in their 50s, and they all do laundry. They have even as youngsters. They all cook, do dishes, they can sew on a button if need be and yes their significant others are most appreciative. And because they do all these things my granddarlings do as well…boys and girls. ❤
I wish! I had a laundry room. My dryer is in the conservatory and washing machine is in the kitchen and i dont have a dishwasher 😢 yet... my kitchen needs new cupbards etc but i cant wait to be able to accessorise with candles and a lamp always love ypur lamp and candles in your kitchen
Amy, the delay wash function on my washing machine has been life changing for me! I’m similar to you, in prepping the laundry the night before, but the difference is that I hit the delay wash, for however many hours I need. So that the wash goes off an hour or so before I wake up, that way it’s ready to go right in the dryer and I can start another load right away. I can get the whole day’s laundry done before 8am. I love laundry and I’ve especially loved making my laundry room pretty so that it’s organized and enjoyable to be in!

I'm glad this works for you and I'm not trying to be negative but I have a question...if you do each person's laundry separately, what if they have whites, darks, and colored loads? Do you do them all together or 3 separate loads? If you do them separately, I would think this would create alot more loads than combining them with the rest of the family.

Love this! I agree with you 100 percent! I have a routine also saturdays it’s laundary day everyone bring me their hampers to laundary room and we do it all they fold put away , Sunday’s is towel day and Monday’s are bedding day ! This helps me stay on track 😅

Your right about routine. I’ve had the same routine ever since we were married 23 years ago. Laundry on Saturday and sheets on Sunday. Same as my mom had when I was growing up. Unfortunately my laundry room is in the basement. I’ve added cute things but it’s 💯 NOT the same as having a separate room dedicated to just that. Thank you for sharing your space.

Good for you, I taught my boys and girls to do all household chores as well. Their wives are so grateful! Running a household is a total team effort, I'm a firm believer of that! We also work together as a family to do laundry. My girls have been doing their own for years so they are well prepared as they head off to college in a couple of months. My husband also helps. I really like the idea of a schedule and need to try it. My laundry room is in the basement so I'm all about efficiency and spending the least amount of time down there. 🤷♀️
Hi Amy, I loved your nice clean laundry room. I follow Flylady and that works for me. My routine is wash a load a day, fold, put away. It's similar to the way your doing it and boy does it help. I laughed when you mentioned everyone had a laundry basket. We did to when my boys were home and we each all had color coded hangers, just those small changes really helped. Love your videos!`
I don't mind doing laundry at all. However I only have my husband and I for laundry. But back in the day when our 2 sons were home, I would literally walk in the back door after work and start a load of laundry. Since I worked full time outside the home I needed to do a load every day. I feel blessed to have a washer and dryer and a laundry room although very small. Your laundry room is so neat, tidy and clean. Thank you for all the tips and ideas and it's great that you are teaching your children how to do laundry!!
My 12 year old son does his own laundry start to finish. My 10 year old is working on it. My 7 year old helps put her things away and is also responsible for picking up any dirty clothes she put on her floor before she brings her laundry basket to me. I think it teaches them not only the skill of doing their laundry - which everyone should know how to do - but it teaches them to plan ahead making sure they have their clothes prepped for school and sports every week. Also it prevents them from leaving socks all over the house because if they forget them they’ll run out of socks or they have to run all over the house to get them. With a family of 5 it still feels like I do a ton of laundry so I’m thankful at least my oldest can do his start to finish.

So when they got married their new wives were so thankful as they were never taught. I think they should bring back that in the schools as well as cooking. Amy. My mom taught all 4 of us kids to do laundry for the family. We learned to sweep mop and clean toilets. And she taught us to make eggs, sandwiches, and spaghetti with meat sauce. We learn to wash dishes and mow the grass. We helped her with the basics and we were able to use those skills as adults. And no we did not get paid for that. My family counldnt afford it as my dad was disabled.

Hello I love our laundry room we have a sink plenty of close cabinets so everything is hidden. We also have a door that leads to our doggie run the dog has his own doggie door. And that where he stays when we are not home. We have a big rug and his bed and food and water. We use a baby gate. We don’t shut the door. So it’s a great room for laundry and a dog.

It’s cheaper to run your washer and dryer in the evening. Electricity is cheaper at night with most electric companies. Check with your electric company. Just thought I’d share that. You might want to go ahead and do the wash before bed.
I grew up from 10 years old doing my own laundry, my brothers and sisters all wash dried and put away, I hear it from my sister in laws how happy that my brothers do laundry better than them, girls did yard work like the boys, we all did the same work.

We keep the washer and dryer with nothing on it. We do have clothing rack above the sink for dryer for clothes that don’t go in dryer.
