Great video! I have owned one for a week now and you hit every complaint and complement I have for it. Coming from an MDX, I'd say that the lack of storage space in the front of the Q7 is a problem. I like to have an assortment of items available and there is just no place to hide them. Other big complaints are the lack of hidden storage in the back and some bugs with the car/ MMI

I am a life long motorhead. Your site is one of the first I visit when starting to research a car. Excellent review as always as far as usable practical auto advice. I agree the ZF 8 speed is a buttery smooth masterpiece of a transmission. I have beat on a ZF for 85,000 miles with a pos 2011 550xi (wifes car). 19.4 mpg combined sucks, I hoped for 21.

Great video - thanks. I wish the Q7 had an option to trade the 3rd row seats (along with motors and controls), for a full-size spare tire.

Some Audis are front wheel drive based, but the Q7 isn't.

I recently sat in one and realized that the fabric underneath the panoramic sunroof was transparent. Almost like the sunshades.
Did you find that they let in too much light or allowed a lot of heat to pass through into the cabin?

Hi Alex: I'm looking at the Acura MDX/Hybrid and this Audi Q7 and I'm wondering which one is better in terms of driving dynamics and also cost of ownership? I'm kinda concerned about how reliable the Audi is and if it is going to become a money pit after its warranty expires,

this is the exact same car we have but the seats are black but i didnt see the electronic sets of buttons at the back so thank you 😀
From a middle class point of view, the Ford Flex seems a much better bargain. After a couple of midwestern winters and a few camping trips, a considerable amount of shine will be worn off the much nicer and expensive cars. The gadgetry involved in power folding seats seems a bit silly as well. Still, that is one nice wagon! Great review as usual Alex.

This is a great review. It is probably worth mentioning that even though fuel consumption is very similar between Q7 and XC90 (maybe XC90 little better) the difference is that XC90 will require regular gas versus premium gas for Q7. Overall great vehicle except exterior rear and interior front panel.
Is it ok to put regular gas in the Q7? If not, why not?

looks are personnel preference but in my opinion Audi Crossovers and SUVs look much better than BMW and Benz lineup.
Definitely better than the Toyota/Lexus family with their “cow catcher” front ends. Although I own a Toyota Avalon, I’m glad I’m driving it so I don’t have to see the front end. 😉
I agree! Audi SUV’s look so much better than BMW and Benz SUV’s.. BMW sedans look better, and everything looks better than Mercedes

morg4620 air suspension are expensive to replace if you're leasing get it. You can adjust height etc

How's the Audi Q7 maintenance compared to Lexus gx 460 ?
I was recently in a new q7 the 3rd row disappointed not much legroom compared to the smaller xc90, also to get into the 3rd was confusing at first.
Alex, I saw this vehicle earlier this week at the Chicago Auto Show. Impressive, so say the least. What struck me a few minutes later was when I saw the new Mazda CX-9 Signature. Very similar styling, but the Mazda visually appeared (couldn't sit in it) to have more interior room. Your thoughts?
Hey Alex the BMW X5 is 192.4 inches and the Acura MDX is 196.2 inches and on the chart the BMW X5 was before the mdx

Any word on a diesel version? The 3.0 TDI is a great performer and ideal as far as mpg goes. Diesel is also cheaper than premium in most areas.

+Yuri Nikonchuk They are very similar and it would really depend on models and options. The Volvo may be slightly less expensive to repair while teh BMW has a longer included maintenance package.

Splendid.
i drive mostly highways and mountain roads, and i average 26mpg. When driving in town, i was at 22, and I don't have a light foot. So to average at 19, you must do a lot of city driving...you don't get that kind of car for mileage but frankly, it's really not that bad.
You were literally racing in those mountains, with a 85 grand large SUV. *Slow, gradual claps* Anyway, this was a great review.
