One note: You'll want to mute the other strings you aren't playing with the side of your index finger to make sure no other notes ring out while you are strumming 🤘. Also, if you play a power chord with the root note on the A string, you will want to mute the low E string with the tip of your index finger as well.
Hey there lovely young lady Rachelf. ✌ Thanks for your contribution to our wonderful world of music! Our world would be a better place if more of us just simply picked up an instrument. Music is a universal language for us all to relate to. Welcome back 50's through 80's generation🎵🎶🎸
My dad taught me the regular chords on an acoustic when I was a kid. Then later when I got an electric, and found out what a power chord was, It was a world changer. Thanks for showing this eye opening trick to the new generation.
It has been said that the late, great Link Wray invented power chords. The first ones I ever played were the ones used on Black Sabbath's Iron Man song, oh yeah. It's a cool and pretty easy riff for a beginner to play. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I just barre with my ring finger, I usually hit the 2 higher strings and it sounds pretty good sometimes, on the a string it forms a full major chord so that’s pretty cool
Daam you are such an good teacher.... I've looking about power chords and they have this hectic explanation and now you solved just in sec... Daaam girl i lob u
Something to add to it. You can experiment with adding a barre chord on the index finger further up the strings, and maybe adding a note below that pinky octave with the middle finger.
If you want to play a power chord off of the D string, all you have to do is raise the position of the octave by 1 fret (or just do the two note version)
That's cool too, I think it's really up to what you feel most comfortable with personally. With that though, for adding the octave you would either have to barre with your pinky or switch to using your ring finger.
Ggggaaaaasssh dang it! I'm always trying to bar that octave. It never really works. Total hello McFly moment! Guess I better stop using my pinky on the fifth! 😅

Don’t you mean, mute it with your middle finger?
@@Criticmizer No. You're muting all the other strings with your index finger.
Add drums and you have Green day
yes my thoughts exactly :)
Thats why im learning it😭
When I come around)

Power chords are great. I enjoy making my own riffs with them. Started playing in drop D to get some more metal sounds
May I suggest playing in D standard, it is better.
I love how happy she looks to share this
Your excitement on you face in this video makes me feel happy 😊

Great video! Ibanez RG?
to spice things up, you can play inverse power chords by playing 2 notes on the same fret
Great
Mhmm! I like it!!!
If you want to play a power chord off of the D string, all you have to do is raise the position of the octave by 1 fret (or just do the two note version)
She has a nice smile.
I always feel like I’m being laughed at somehow…

If you drop d the one finger can rhythm and it gives you 3 open fingers to lead with
Hey Rachel, you rock, check out my original music on my official artist channel and let me know what you think!
I wish I had long nice fingers like this guitarist. My are short and chubby and it’s frustrating
no really... you rock.
Is the middle finger on a string? (I always struggle to see if it’s resting, muting a string or pressing it)
He went full goth
Powderr - Anywhere I Go 🎶
How many strings do you play? 4?
😢so 25 years ago my classically trained father flipped out at my desire to learn these.
I dont listen rock but i want an EG
What is your drive pedal
Nice! How do you prevent accidentally strumming the other strings? IM STRUGGLING 😂
I was like idek how to do a power chord😂😂 only to realize i’ve been doing it the whole time 😭
What tone settings need to be done to get that sound...
I see a lot of metal musicians play power chords with their index and pinky rather than the index and ring. Does that make a difference?
That's cool too, I think it's really up to what you feel most comfortable with personally. With that though, for adding the octave you would either have to barre with your pinky or switch to using your ring finger.
How do you make your guitar have a rock sound or metal sound just got it today and have no clue. Lol
When i try my fingers just can’t stretch that far, what am i doing wrong?
How do you play solos faster
DAD TUNING
Hello and happy new year. Is it ok to use my first and fourth finger?
Whatever feels most comfortable works! Though then for the octave you'll have to use the pinky as well which might be a bit more tricky initially
Yay 100th comment!
🎉🎉🎉🎉😢❤❤❤❤❤
you sound like your about to laugh at any second
Greenday approve of this lesson.
And now you can play any green day song ever
Strumming pattern please please at 0.47 seconds
Ggggaaaaasssh dang it! I'm always trying to bar that octave. It never really works. Total hello McFly moment! Guess I better stop using my pinky on the fifth! 😅
THANK YOU IVE BEEN WONDERING WHY THERES A FINGER OVER THE OTHER STRINGS 😭
