Maggots don’t scare me either, I have mistakenly eaten a couple from time to time myself…at least they are clean maggots.🤙

Yay! I feel like you made this video just for me. 😄It's my favorite fruit (especially the lemony ones) and I'm super jealous of all that deliciousness. My two trees flower like crazy each year, but I still have yet to get any to take. I tried manual pollination but haven't quite got the technique figured out and I always seem to get them during the rainy season. Maybe I need black ants! I only have the nasty LFAs. I have a gazillion more lil baby trees in backets still from one I bought last year. At least they're easy to propagate. Great video and very inspiring.

Fascinating! I love rollinia but hadn’t had one since being diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic. There are so many fruits that I must avoid or limit because they spike my blood sugar. I was surprised to see rollinia at Island Naturals and couldn’t resist. I am so glad that I tried it. It doesn’t spike my blood sugar! 😊

Yay, its so good to start New Year with old friends ..Me and my daughter met you guys in 2017 Woodstock Fruit Festival... We were both new and didn't know anybody, spent only 3 days over there. You were one of very few people that makes us feel like we belong there. You were teaching my daughter how to hula hoop :) Its so good to see you guys happy and staying the same as we remember you. I follow you on your TH-cam chanel since 2017, I'm so glad that you guys decided to post again after a long break. If I may ask about another old friends Gytis, we were staying in touch a few years , but than suddenly he decided to stop posting videos and his instagram and Skype disappeared. just want to ask if he is ok and still live on the Island.. I love you Guys from my Soul ,may the Year 2024 be the best year ever for all of You. Les

You guys are so fun. That fruit looks really interesting & sounds delicious. I just got a bunch of papaya seeds to germinate, not a big deal for most, but I could kill a plastic plant. Great info on that btw, thanks so much. I'm glad I found your channel. It's like a mini vacation for me.

I have only tried rollinia once before, and afraid it was overripe and not to my liking. We have a free fruit stand I built in front of our house and someone left a few small ones; not sure where they came from, but they were definitely a bit "past their prime". I would love to try one at its peak of yumminess! Pretty sure where we are, at about 100' is not rollinia-growing environment, but we are trying to grow other things.
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou, and look forward to more videos! (But no more maggots! Ugh!) :-P

Thank you for this amazing video! I have 6 year young tree and had some difficulty to grow more than a couple per season. I had one year when i had more than a dozen small fruit on the tree but when they were the size of a ping pong ball most of them turned black and dropped. After your video I think i have to water it more and maybe mulch it too. I also have ants on the tree all the time and until now i was wondering if they are friend or foe thanks for answering that too. Do you ever prune these trees? Thank you again for sharing!

Aloha from Ocean View Hawaii. I just ran across your channel today (January 16 2024) . We moved here in 2017. And I would li e to know more about growing Star 🌟 fruit and Bananas 🍌. We have white Pineapples 🍍 growing. All of the avocados 🥑 I started from seed grow about 3 feet and died. I don't know if is that we have nothing but rock or I may need to make a bigger hole for them to get started or I may need to get the spliced ones.
    What do you think.
Thank You so much for your video's. And can't wait for the next one.

Aloha :) there’s some great information on growing avocados in Hawaii on TH-cam and on Facebook “tropical fruit growers” group.
Avocados have a tap root that needs to anchor very deep into the soil in order to grow, so maybe it’s just crashing into solid pahoehoe rock. Also gotta be careful transplanting them from the pot into the soil to not disturb the root. Have you noticed if the leaves have lace wing bugs? Those will kill the leaves and especially young trees will struggle to survive. I hope that helps!

@@OffGridHawaii I understand. It would be rad if you tried to talk through the process a bit, even if you couldn't give too many specifics. Like if it's Hawaiian Acres what you liked about that area when you were selecting a location, and what you think of it now. You wouldn't have to say the street or anything! (I say all this as someone up in Kapa'au who is thinking about planting some land down near Kurtistown, so I'm thinking a lot about site location)

I live in Florida and big island. Because of climate changes in FL I've kept Rollinia in deep pots. Has 2 inch trunk diameter. Made 1 fruit each year. However was exposed to insect infestation, had to top the tree. Now only 6 feet. Any particular guidance u can give? I maintain good moisture. Please help getting fruit in a pot. Pot depth is about 19 inches.

Seeing as to how many seeds you get from all of your fruit, I think you could make some pretty passive income selling rollinia seeds...I farm on Oahu and have lots of soursop seeds from my soursop trees..the seeds stay good for months and some, even years! I collect my seeds as my family and I enjoy eating the fruits...after rinsing and drying the seeds, I put them in mason jars and keep them in the kitchen cupboard 👍....if you sold them, someday maybe, I'd gladly buy them! Aloha 🤙

I have a 7 year old tree that makes hundreds of flowers each season but has never produced a single fruit.
