- Todd Tuckey shows you a rare game system that Sega released in 1989. Not many have survived in the USA. The game system had 48 different game cartridges that can easily be switched out! Similar to Nintendo's Playchoice Ten system, this uses both a z80 and a 68000 processor.
I love this Mega Tech cabinet with the 2 screens :D
I actually have one of these standing here, it is one of the top pieces of my collection.
Thank you for taking the time to show us the mega tech. Im a huge gamer/arcade player and never saw these and I grew up in the 80s
I used to own a sega mega tech arcade machine. I bought it at an antique shop in new britain ct. I had it in my game room for many year. Sadly i lost the house and gave the system to a buddy. Over the years I've lost contact with him but i know he still has it in his game room.
Great video Todd We would love to see a tour of your game collection :D
I'm addicted too we would all love to see your game room Todd great video
My Uncle in 1969 bought a campground and asked me to buy games he could put on coin op in it! Thats when we started buying games...I was 14!
Great cabinet, we had one of these sadly we sold it but the UK version here was also the same as the one you displayed.
God damn, that shits pretty sweet. Nice little history too
I have 32 of the cartridges so far! Todd
Good vídeo, i love its amazing machines árcades . Thank you
MegaTech I read is actually a 8/16 bit system (68000 main and Z80 for sound in Genesis mode or Z80 doing all in master system mode) Most of the hardware is based on Genesis Hardware. Some of them are master system (it has the built in converter). However, the carts are different as there is an extra chip used for the menu system. The menu system uses a separate Z80 processor.
WOW! Now that becoumes my favorite chanel!
I almost forgot to mention. the first cartridge titled Super Real Basketball is actually known in the US as Pat Riley Basketball which serves as one of many celebrity endorsed sports games which include legendary sport icons like Tommy Lasorda, Arnold Palmer, and even James ''Buster'' Douglas (thing was that Sega of America pulled all the stops by having many famous people work on Sega Genesis games in order to attract a wider audience to the then new console back in 1990).
I guess Sega didn't want to chance distributing this here, (with what the Nintendo's Playchoice 10), though nice Sega thought to include both Mega Drive and Master System carts together.
I'm officially addicted to your videos. Where do you learn to work on amusement machines?
what's interesting about it is that even though the cartridges are shaped like the Mega Drive cartridges, there are special PCBs to ensure that the user doesn't put in their own games (mainly since the special carts feature extra data such as the information used by the upper screen).
t may seem strange to you but as a child about 1996/7 in a tourist resort in Sicily I played an arcade version of aladdin in a multigames cabinet in the arcade ..
I'd like to make a cabinet similar to this running mame with 2 monitors just like this.
we have one on location at Game Galaxy Arcade Antioch,TN
