The Brewery of Eggshells

Welcome to Season 1 and Episode 3 of Candlelittle Tales. We tell stories and we made them with kids in mind. We focus on Irish myth and folktales and this is the story, “The Brewery of Eggshells” we look at the changeling myth. There were loads of stories like this one in Ireland that claimed one of the fairies had swapped places with someone's baby.
In this story we see Mrs. Madigan get worried that her baby boy was stolen away from her and replaced by a faerie! Old grey Ellen had warned her that this could happen, but Mrs. Madigan didn't believe her at all. Lo and behold, her baby boy was no longer her baby, and in fact a little faerie. But there were ways of making the fairies reveal themselves and return the real baby if you knew what to do. Luckily for Mrs. Madigan, Grey Ellen came back and told her just what to do.
