God Latency issue? When I tried psNow a couple months ago, there was no noticeable latency. I don't know on Pstv though, I only bought that thing to play psp/vita games.
idk what everyones talking about, this playstation TV is dope for 5+ year olds. I would recommend this as a christmas present for your nephew, little brother, or cousin.
Thanks for making this review. I like the Ps tv, and I hope that there will be a patch for Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles. I bought the game yesterday only to find out it does not work on my PS TV, which had me make a thread about it on the PS official support forums. Its one of the games that I am most looking forward to play, one of the many I missed when the PSP came out since I never owned one.
Anyone else notice all of the video was entirely about complaints? Can't they go: "Hey, you know what, it's a handheld gaming device on TV, with the BONUS of Remote Play for your consoles AND it just came out, lets cut it a LITTLE slack." but no... it's all: "This thing SUCKS! Damn you Sony for not creating a flawless console that does everything you said it would perfectly!!!!"
Got my PSTV some days ago and I think it's a good device. Yes, it's annoying that many games don't work. But there are still plenty of good games that so work. And that thing is very cheap to get. With that pricing, Sony could have achieved a much bigger success, if the flaws were better thought of and given better solutions. Apart from the camera, the DS4 is capable of mimicking the Vita's touchpads. Sony should patch that and could start a big marketing campaign for the Vita features. But that's way too late now. Sony could have saved the Vita's success much earlier, but they failed. Too bad, the Vita is a wonderful device.
Got mine for 20 bucks. Don't know what I'm going to use it for. I already have a Vita, PS3, and PS4. I'll think of something, or leave it in the box, lol.
Okay three questions. First I only intend to use this to stream PS4 games via Remote play, so How well does it do this? Second question, when the PS4 is in Remote play mode, can it still do other stuff like play games etc..? Finally can I use a dualshock 3 controller when streaming PS4 games via remote play?
The fact that Netflix isn't supported isn't as big a deal as it sounds. The PS TV cannot output 1080p/24, and that's the resolution that most "Super HD" videos on Netflix are encoded at. You're going to want a better device than this for Netflix; 1080i/30 will be rife with cadence and interlacing issues if they ever try to get 1080p/24 video working.
It's a big deal for me, my connection won't even go above 720p either. But you can hack it and install the whitelist now ( I know your comment is from 2 years ago ).
I agree, this should have had better software support. However if you wana play Ps1,Ps2, and PSP games, you can play those all on PC and with better graphics. And you can use any controller as well and map controls how you want. Just saying :p
Just got an emulator. I don't have a PS2 but have old discs lying around so I decided to play those. Sure, you can get emulators for free, but they are a bitch to set up. Just saying from personal experience.
That's why I'm switching to PC gaming. I'm getting wary of Console Gaming, save for my WiiU, and PC is constantly lauded as great. I'm just a little nervous cause it feels like I'm jumping into an unfamilar ocean.
I want the Vita TV for one thing and one thing only: capturing game footage from Vita games without having to awkwardly point a camera at my Vita or pay for that expensive (and more importantly, limited) video out mod. I haven't checked if this has HDCP protection; I imagine it does but that can be easily overcome with a HDMI splitter (many of which will strip the HDCP protection even though they won't explicitly advertise that). That aside, I think Sony is really dropping the ball by not allowing you to use the Vita as a remote control. I already plan to purchase one but would gladly pay more if I could use my Vita as a controller and play on my HDTV with my surround sound. I know I will only get stereo but I have a pretty expensive setup so even stereo sounds fantastic. That would pretty much solve the control issues with games that heavily rely on touch control. It would require very little effort on Sony's part because they already have the technology in place with remote play.
I use remote play very often with my Vita using WiFi and its totally playable. Lag is barely noticeable. So using an Ethernet cable to the PlayStation TV should solve most of the lag.
Didn't they remove the Ps-one games and the PSP? I do hope they come back but still atm just Handheld wise or if you want to play those games you're kinda limited by the PSN store Library.
I can't decide if I want one or not. IF the machine is going to have lag then that's a problem because the main feature I would purchase it for is the PS4 remote play. Maybe the lag issue here has been made to seem bigger than it is? I'll have to do some more research on this. It does all seem to be rushed out for xmas, much like they did on PS4. The PS4 has improved since launch but it still doesn't feel quite there yet. I might put PS TV on hold for now.
With consoles being compatible with many apps and video services and now with the Roku, Apple TV, Nexus Player, and Fire TV I don't see how anyone could want this. Especially considering the best feature it has (remote streaming) isn't perfected. In my opinion is rather buy another Vita (which is highly unlikely) or just play a lot of those games on the original hardware.
mmm kay so after this i still have some questions: 1. do you require a memory card to save games or is it mostly for extra space? 2. does it work with older TV models? like with the yellow white and red av cables and such 3. does it work with persona 4 golden? please halp
is the playstaion TV good for someone like me that doesn't own a PS vita but wants to play some of the the games for a cheaper price then a Vita costs and play those games on a TV?
It's a cool console for when you want something to play while going on a trip, but don't want to pay full price for a vita. You can also use it for TH-cam but you have to watch it threw the browser.
I'm getting one mainly because I miss being able to play my ps1 classics and for only $79 I can get a chance to play all those games again, I don't see a reason not too
GameStop temporarily price dropped to $40 this week but are now officially sold out. The good news is Best Buy will price match it anyway. So go for it.
I'm in Europe and i've got Netflix on my PS3 and PS4, but for some reason there's no Netflix app for the Vita on the European PSN, yet as i see at 2:48, there is one on a U.S. Vita... :_ . There are apps for TH-cam, Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Flicker and Sony's Music Unlimited, but no Netflix :( .
I'm from the future!! Buy as many of these as you can on clearance they're going to b worth more than $100, and then $200-$300 further in the future once all Vita batteries are dead!!
Netflix was the ONLY reason why I was considering buying this, since my Playstation is in my living room, and I wanted to watch Netflix in my bedroom, thanks for this review, until they fix the Netflix thing, I'm not buying it
If they can fix all those psp/psVita compatibility issues, they will surely get my money! I've been wanting to get a psVita to play some exclusive games on the system but I'm not really into handheld consoles, so it'd be awesome if I can play these games on my TV. I would have been ready to pay over 100$ anytime to be able to play psp/psVita games on my ps3/ps4.
If I got a vita and streamed gta 5 from my ps4, can I use a ps4 control through Bluetooth for a better experience and also are there any games not compatible with PS4 link play
Mine works awesome when plugged into ethernet but if i use wireless on it the lag is too much and not even usable so if you have ethernet in each room your good but if you have to use wireless you better have a top notch gaming wireless router.
I don't find any lag at all, had it a week it works perfectly fine on my shaw 5g internet, and when I played destiny remote play on my vita from 300km from my house in traffic, I created a hotspot on my samsung s3 on telus lte internet and it worked amazing, if you get lag or glitchy you probably just have bad internet, if my hotspot worked perfectly you should have no problem
this video is realy usfull thanks but i have a question can i conect like for example the ps tv to a tv but having the ps4 in another room witch is not conected to another tv ?
charles125 Well honestly, being able to play psp/Vita games on my TV is pretty cool. It just sucks that it seems to have compatibility issues with many games. But still, I don't see why they don't integrate this to the ps3/ps4. I guess it is because people would want it for free. Though, I would be ready to pay as much as 150$ to be able to play psp/Vita games on my ps3/ps4.
foufoufun0 I'd probably use it more for the remote play and the odd vita game. It is pretty cool, but I was suprised that there's so much lag, even with the cord. They don't integrate because it'd probably drive up the cost. But I am surprised they haven't made a bundle yet.
i have it. to play 2 players youL need a 2nd ita and the same game and it has to support ad hoc. the good news though is that the retro arch emulators support local multi player so you just need two ps3/ps4 controllers and all emulators from retro arch will work

This little thing is trying to do too much and I see it as something that only the people who need it will buy it. The streaming part of vita games on tv is something I really like though.
I bought mine on amazon for 64$ and im only gonna use it for Danganronpa, cause seriously, the PS4 is under 500$ but goes to like 300$ and i don't make enough money to buy it, so im happy i got this instead, cause it supports Vita cards, which im just literally use Danganronpa on this system lol
I was thinking of getting one of these things. No netflix support is a huge shot in the foot. Not to mention the large amount of unsupported games. No thanks!
Well they aways could fix it. It is mostly a software issue. Hell if both your ps4 and playstation tv are hooked up with ethernet cables it might even one day support improved modes for remote play. With lower latency. And netflix, well they will fix that soon enough. Everything needs to be able to play netflix!
I'm only going to be getting the Playstation TV if Uncharted Golden Abyss becomes available on it. Unless it becomes available, I'm not getting the PSTV.
I'm tired of all these publisher/developers realeasing things that are incomplete. Almost everyone is releasing games and hardwares that are being released in a hurry and incomplete like its the last day on earth.

i have allways been loyal to sony ever scince the original PS1...i own both the PSVita and a PS4 console witch i use allmost daily in my oppinion the PS4 Graphics are stunning and remote play feture of the vita is ausome however I think due to the software limitations describred in this video i would hold off buying this new gadget untill they inprove on this or reatailers offer a sweet deal
Sony did the imposible, they make a vita with even less games
PlayStation TV master race
#PCANDXBOXMASTRRACE

Ash Miah PsTV can already do more than the Xbox one who can only allow you to watch tv, sports and play Call of Duty.
holy shit this was said ages ago when i was a fanboy sorry everyone
***** OUYE master race!

Does the ps4 need to be switched on in order to pla on another TV?
can i save games to the on-board memory?
If i play a PS Vita or 3 games on PS TV can i play them on my PS4 and also stream them to twitch while gaming?
GameStop temporarily price dropped to $40 this week but are now officially sold out. The good news is Best Buy will price match it anyway. So go for it.
It is currently $30 at best buy canada
Quick question, if I get this will I be able to play the PSVITA games I've got downloaded on my PS3?
If you have a big enough memory card, they I don't see why not, you'd just have to make sure it's compatible with the PS TV

Hello. Could you tell me if among the options have Brazilian Portuguese language?
Thank You This Video Was Very Helpful

Nah, steam in home streaming, it's the best streaming service I've used so far, virtually no latency.
Was going to get this for the play your ps4 on another Tv feature, but with that latency it's a no no.
I don't find any lag at all, had it a week it works perfectly fine on my shaw 5g internet, and when I played destiny remote play on my vita from 300km from my house in traffic, I created a hotspot on my samsung s3 on telus lte internet and it worked amazing, if you get lag or glitchy you probably just have bad internet, if my hotspot worked perfectly you should have no problem

carlos mercader I think so.. as long the ps4 is in standby mode... you should try it yourself and see if it works
does it support pendrives?
Can muramasa demon blade, killzone mercenary and persona 4 golden work on this? I really dont wanna buy a ps vita for 3 games
You can connect either a DS3 or DS4 but my PS3 can't even use the home button on my DS4..
Wait how do you have chaos rings three on a English psvita
it sounds like Sony had a good idea and instead of holding off and doing it right they just said " the hell with it lets put it on the market anyway"
and does the browser work like for u tube and such? thanksso much
mark bondad you can use youtube with the browser
PlayStation TV is for playing games. The name/branding is confusing.
This is exactly what I thought, its mostly for playing Vita games and using remote play for the PS4. The name isn't very great
charles125 Well honestly, being able to play psp/Vita games on my TV is pretty cool. It just sucks that it seems to have compatibility issues with many games. Imo its a good gadget but lacks in some areas that i hope sony/playstation will get to sooner or later ...i have one
Btw the price dropped, now its 50€
(Streams for ps4r now Support up to 60fps)
I'm happy with mine
yes me too I want burning blood though its awesome haven't played in a while but I have baseball jaystarz and digimon
Is there a way to record gameplay via PSTV?
I am having PSP is it worth buying PlayStation tv
can two people play local multiplayer on it>? w/vita and/or controllers?
I want to know too
i have it. to play 2 players youL need a 2nd ita and the same game and it has to support ad hoc. the good news though is that the retro arch emulators support local multi player so you just need two ps3/ps4 controllers and all emulators from retro arch will work
BXThorn Xvn What's retro arch and how do I use/ get it
here is the site that is updated daily so just download the lastest one (google-liberto retroarch ps vita) . in the file are most video game emulators like snes, sege/32x, gameboy color. M.A.M.E, neo geo, PSX and more. i think its about 31 game systems. just get the roms for them, load up the core(emuator) in the app, then load up your roms(Games) for the emulator. for two people just plug in a 2nd ps3/ps4 controller into the ps tv and it will be player two. to change your controller slot just hold down the ps button and you will be able to do so. it also has touch screen support in that menu. no you can not use a vita as a controller for the ps tv. *note: you have to hack your vita prior to doing any of this. if you are on the latest 3.61 there is a special tutorial for how to do it

its a cool product if you are into sony ecosystem. its like the other boxes (google, fire, apple etc) it just plays better games.
I like the PS TV but I do think they should of upped the hardware a bit more.
Sony is Phucking awesome!!! I just hate that little laps when using this system. Need own satellite for this PS4
Should share the hell out of this video so they can at least do a patch that allows all the Vita games to be supported.
I was thinking of getting one of these things. No netflix support is a huge shot in the foot. Not to mention the large amount of unsupported games. No thanks!
Its probably pretty bad, but I'm getting it for persona games and other JRPGs
Well they aways could fix it. It is mostly a software issue. Hell if both your ps4 and playstation tv are hooked up with ethernet cables it might even one day support improved modes for remote play. With lower latency.
And netflix, well they will fix that soon enough. Everything needs to be able to play netflix!
Can't you still watch videos on the browser tho?
Yes, but why don't the apps work then? Makes no freaking sense
LittleDude that's exactly what I was wondering
Cristian Alvarez I watch TH-cam threw the browser and it works fine for me and I guess it saves storage so I'm ok with it.
I'm only going to be getting the Playstation TV if Uncharted Golden Abyss becomes available on it. Unless it becomes available, I'm not getting the PSTV.
On the List there are PS1, PSP, PS mini, PS mobile, & Vita Games... But why not PS2 Games it be nice if they did...
I'm tired of all these publisher/developers realeasing things that are incomplete. Almost everyone is releasing games and hardwares that are being released in a hurry and incomplete like its the last day on earth.
I really think it's cool just buy that, dualshock 4,micro sd to vita card adapter and an sd card 128gb with only 200$
It's not amazing but I only spent £20 on mine so I'm happy with it :)
do I really need to connect it with the cord to the internet? cant I just use wifi? pls help im interested in buyin thnx
mark bondad yes. you may use wifi
I found the big bundle on sale for $70.
+Logan McClure I found one for $60 bro.
+Jay Moran its amazon 43$

Found a guy selling them on ebay for $30. :)
I just wanna play psone classics on ma ps4 plz
Kinda sucks that the PSOne Classics play with fullscreen aspect ratio, unlike the widescreen that they play with on PS3. And it NEEDS Netflix!
Is this good for playing Persona 4 golden and such?
Yes! There are some Vita only games that are worth playing, such as P4G. And it works fine on PSTV!
Can PlayStation TV players play with Ps Vita players?

PS TV PlayStation® TV: MULTIPLAYER OPTION AVAILABLE ??
Isn't the Xbox one like a ps4 and pstv combined?
how does P4G and P4D work with it ?? laggy or decent??
Since it runs natively on the PSTV and is not streamed whatsoever, there's no lag. And both games work fine on PSTV!
+TimeKiller0924 thanks for the info. also one more question, does PSTV require an internet connection to play vita games specifically?
No. Same as the Vita, since the PSTV is basically a Vita. And since that is a handheld device to be used on the go, you don't have to be online.
sweet thanks! looks like ill be getting one soon!!
do you need a memory card to play games
What did you expect from Gaikai?
What? People used their PS4 and PSP for watching movies and tv? D: I thought these was strictly gaming machines??????????????????????
This is the coolest thing ever.
Does what it advertises. I'm fine with it.
i have allways been loyal to sony ever scince the original PS1...i own both the PSVita and a PS4 console witch i use allmost daily in my oppinion the PS4 Graphics are stunning and remote play feture of the vita is ausome however I think due to the software limitations describred in this video i would hold off buying this new gadget untill they inprove on this or reatailers offer a sweet deal
does this mean I can put a Blu-ray in my PlayStation 4 and watches upstairs in my bedroom?
Now it's £45 in the U.K!
Does not seem to be ready at all. Netflix and some popular games do not even work
