    Clear pots sure do help diagnose problems like this. Plants that supposedly like to dry out some between watering are most susceptible to dry rot at my house . Main watering day they're " naw I'm good" , but then a day or two later...They be like little kids on a road trip, " pull over I gotta go now!"😹

    Very informative. I just did a repot and it was moss, bark, perlite, baaam, plant, moss, done in 90 seconds! Now I will be more thoughtful in the process!!! lol

    This video landed a subscribe from me!
    It was an excellent and effective presentation on what to do when plant roots get dry root and what is the difference between dry rot and root rot. (see how much I loved it, you? I added SEO LOL with intention and hope on how to get you more views and subscribers- ooo did I add more? LOL I found you informative and definitely entertaining. Thank you Plant Gay for Life. You won't find me comment on videos much at all! Yeah, smh dry rot was a major issue with a Pothos I had to take apart last night, (took a few hours- no hours)- between dealing with shock, mines and its, time restraint and finding big enough containers (glass) to arrange the stems in ways to reroot in water. smh- One stem had to be at least 7 feet long. Was gorgeous, but confident will survive. After all, the what was about 15 lbs heavy is one of 50+ plants that was from a mother plant. I know- sick. LOL (I tuck the stems, so the plants grown full and up as opposed to creeping and me or guest out- (Can you imagine if not??) The plant was stunning and then in a couple of days, simply seemed to loose it. I thought to self oh no and sniffle sorry baby. Mama's going to get you dirt and a part now (btw it was a SELF WATERING pot!
    I have it now in about 7 glass jars smh crazy and the stems are packed in all of the rerooting as there are NO ROOTS left. NONE- I don't know how it survived the couple of days before I found time and a location to purchase dirt. umph umph umph Pray for them lol :) Best I could do on a whim.
    I knooow, hardly ever comment and now a dissertation. Let's see how the SEO might also help you- Have a light day! Again, thank you for the wake up call- as it is also shortly after I woke today. :)🤣😀

    Wow I had no idea that roots turn green and actually photosynthesize! Thats crazy! I always thought the green roots was just algae. Love learning new stuff!

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Algae can also grow on roots. But I have Phalaenopsis orchids in clear pots that have green roots and ones in terracotta with white roots!😁 Any opportunity plants find, they’ll take it!

    Can you do a video on what leaves are telling us? Like why plants turn their leaves in certain directions? I know they typically aim for the light, but why do certain aroids all of a sudden face their leaves down? Or one down and one up? or whatever. And why do some antheriums' leaves curl under and some curl up when they're not happy. What means what?

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great video idea! Plants are strange. Sometimes they point leaves down to shade themselves when light is too bright. Sometimes it has to do with if it thinks there is light coming from a low angle and is trying to capture it. The curling leaves seems to be related to moisture stress from low humidity or underwatering. I get curled leaves sometimes too and am still observing the patterns🙂

    I couldn't get a micans to root, why, only god knows. I put it in moss and tree fern fibre and wow, growing very well. I think I may keep it in this mix after watching how you grow your plants. When I make cuttings I put candle wax on the cutting and then you can plant her up straight away in the substrate

    I will run though your videos later, but do you have coverage on white spots showing up on leaves of plants that look something like banana leaves? I have 2nd baby plant, birthed from it's mother about now about 4 feet tall and growing on the leaves now are tiny circles with circular reddish looking rims. 😥 Thank you

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like it could be a fungal outbreak. Try treating with some fungicide for the next 2 weeks (don’t overdo the dosage or you might burn the plant). Keep an eye on it and isolate it from other plants if you can.

    Where did you get this plant can you send me a link or can I purchase a cutting

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s a NOID from an Indonesian seller who sent me the wrong plant. I dubbed it “black swan.” I self pollinated it and have some seedlings that look very similar to the mother plant. If interested you can dm me on Instagram @plantgayforlife or Facebook @jakeinzerra 😊

    What do I do if a plant got both?

    • @plantgayforlife
      @plantgayforlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      In that case, unpot, cut away all dead or infected roots, throw some cinnamon on the roots or place them in fungicide water for 30 mins to an hour, and repot with new media, then water with some fungicide water. Give it plenty of light so it can photosynthesize more and rehab quicker.

    I think sansevieria are susceptible to dry rot due to them not needing to be watered very often. We (me) tend to neglect them more than they should be. 😊🪴
