I am so concerned at the amount of shake those shelves have
The anxiety! Breaking that jar was panic inducing.
I love your videos, love your mess, your planty awesomeness, turn your AC on we can hear you just fine
Oh my lord that pot at the start is 8 times smaller than I expected
Loved It! 💚😂
Nice weave, gurl! 🙍💅
😌❤️
Love watching this. Surprised af it didn’t involve an ER visit. Leave the leaves.
🤣I’ve broken glass many many times
You exist on TH-cam to make videos like this to entertain people like me. Period. Love it.
I’ve found my purpose!!

Gorgeousnessssssssss!!!!! Look at them leaves 🍃!!!!!!! Don’t even talk about this heat 🥵. I’m convinced that gives it power. lol Luv the video as always Jake. That plant is amazing ❤❤❤❤

I mean, you must have some skill to not be bleeding by the end of that! 😂
I’ve clearly done this before🤣
Lmfaooo 😂
I was so afraid for you watching this, but the plant is beautiful!
😹
My anxiety shooting up as i see you make the moss cake with glass shards on the mat T_T
😈
Good video, I would keep the leaves for now since they're mostly intact and still photosynthesizing for him and Anthurium go through leaves rather quickly in my experience.
Yeah they’re so big and pretty too☺️
@@plantgayforlife yup, it would be a shame to lose them plus I've found that they'll typically replace damaged leaves rather quickly.
Omg this is literally the worst video on TH-cam !!! What the heck is wrong with you my guy?! Lmao jk! You asked for it lol so I delivered 🤪 On a serious note I really appreciate your video. Thanks!!!!
You understood the assignment!😌
I saw your repotting of this same plant to the round orchid basket with the netting (from the square one). Did it not do well in that? Curious how it ended up in the terracotta since then. I’ll be potting mine up soon and have been exploring pot and substrate options. I appreciate your videos.
Yeah it ended up crashing because I overwatered it and it wasn’t getting enough light in its new spot.
I recently learned it's better to use alcohol to disinfect. And I'm lazy so I put it in a small spray bottle and just spray the sheers - ok, tbh, I do this maybe twice a week or if a plant is a rehab. I did a Carla x Doc Block F2 down the middle and one came back in the prop box and the other just gives me dirty looks from the cabinet while it doesn't grow (yet?!).
Can you repot anthuriums in winter?
Absolutely!
@@plantgayforlife thanks for that. I’m just concerned my plant could get stressed from a re-pot when it’s cold. I live in Sydney, Australia
I appreciate this video so much. Thanks for braving rain and mosquitoes to educate us ❤
Absolutely! I’d do it all again!
Man idk what it is , but I love ur personality and ur energy 😂 ur Definitely one of my top favorite plant channels
Aw thanks so much!☺️
Their garden looks outgrown.. Longwood gardens are immaculate.
In hopes that this will help you or someone else......I purchased my queen because of your instructional video (and it was cheap on a scratch & dent sale) I put leca on the bottom with a sphagnum layer on top of a tube vase, and it has been doing incredible. I got it 3 months ago as a "starter plant" and it now has 7 leaves, 2 of which I received under my care. I live in the same situation as you, apartment with no outside space, and humidity that fluctuates between 35% and 55% (and yet NO crisp brown tips or anything). I did have to repot it one time because the roots were going crazy in the moss and down into the leca. The one addition I did make to your setup is I added a braded nylon rope hidden in the center to wick water to the top as it was staying dry and crunchy on the top layer of the moss. Mine receives a lot of light, natural in the morning (east window + Miami sun) and artificial (display, not grow lights) in the afternoon till 9pm. I feed it with 'Dr. Earth Pure Gold' and 'Superthrive Vitamin Solution' (Do plants even need vitamins???). I also bought a king (veitchii) at the same time, but THAT ONE is growing SOOOOOOOOO SLOW, both roots and leaves, that I could have bought an artificial plant and gotten the same effect.
Mine performed very similarly at that stage. They do well in their juvenile and adolescent sizes but when they try to size up to a semi mature size with leaves longer than a foot, that’s when it gets tricky.
@@plantgayforlife Thanks for the foresight, I knew it was a gamble going in.
45-55% is low? Where I live, if the humidity touches 50% people fall like flies on the road and die
They don’t sound like a hardy people
32 seconds in and im sold!
You’re funny, I like you
Ecuagenera plants always ship badly
I find Metallicum are super easy and the best alternative… they love a household setting and will get so big.
Noted! Maybe I’ll give that one a shot
What substrate do you use? Several years ago, I imported a seedling from Ecuador, but it didn’t survive.
This is gold! 😮 thx!
Rust fungus? Spray with copper fungicide
I tried planting my plants directly in those and I was having to water twice a day minimum. So I changed them all to pots
You planted in vases and had to water twice a day..?
@@plantgayforlife no. I had them planted directly in the fabric (idk what they are called but sold as wall planters for herbs outside like you have in your tent).
I’ve never owned a Waroq but I’ve seen some of my friends’ struggles with her and hunny…. I stand in solidarity with you! My friends’ struggles alone deter ME from getting one. I think I’m happier looking at other people successfully grow theirs than to put myself through Waroq Hell 🙃
Completely understandable!
i grow mine in ambient conditions (after sourcing it semi-locally, all my ecuagenera ones died on me). as a last resort, I got a tiny seedling, it wasn't even on cataphylls or anything. it's growing like crazy, just put out its first flower + its growing offsets as well lol. this is 7 months of growth I think. it's growing in a mix of your usual anthurium potting mix but diluted with a lot of tree fern fiber. humidity is around 40% most of the time, temps are between 17ish celsius up to 28 in summer. I water it once a week except if its super hot, but that doesnt happen very often in the UK lol. this was my last resort specimen and now I think it's way easier than some of my other anthuriums.
Wow, I'm obsessed with the beauty of these rare plants! I've got 3 Thai Constellation that I grew from tissue culture - what a challenge! Now, I create these plants with play dough and clay - so satisfying, and it's a great way to feed my plant addiction without breaking the bank, haha!
I live close to your area in downtown Brooklyn I be going to Brooklyn horticulture all the time lol I love anthuriums it’s better to get baby’s then grow them in open air that’s what i don’t and have great success
I noticed when you buy plant parents they don’t like to adapt
That’s what I did. I had queens of varying sizes, including seedlings and they all gave the same result
Hi good video must say. Just a question tho, how much light you usually use on your best growing Anthuriums? do you have any PPFD readings? TIA
They probably get between 100-800 foot candles but grow the best in the 300-500 fc range for most people
my warocqueanum esmeralda is super easy!! you should give it a try i’m moving it to lechuza soon she lives in ambient humidity and i had her in a grow tent before then i just took her out and she did fine i basically just keep her drenched with foliage pro i use 1 tsp per gallon or 5 ml per gallon i can also say it looks like it dried out to much a big thing with the queens to is flushing out mineral buildups which is why people have success growing them in self watering planters check out hakunalaplanta’s video on the queen it really made me change my perspective on them (sorry this is so run on i’m too lazy for that proper grammar bs)
I used to have Esmeralda. It was super easy for a long time…until it tried sizing up to a mature size. Then, just like the regular queens, it crisped up and looked shitty, all my hard work, leaves that were months and months old…gone. It was very depressing. Something about queens and their hybrids / cultivars have a problem with sizing up in a household environment.
@@plantgayforlifei know you use moss as a medium and i’m wondering how you treat for mold i actually just got a mold scare on my esmeralda that has moss on top of its substrate
I grow my queen in lechuza pon with a self watering pot in ambient room humidity (sometimes as low as 25%), so it can definitely be done. I wonder if allowing the substrate to dry out too much between waterings was the problem? I think they like consistency above all else, so i wonder if having a reservoir that keeps the substrate moisture constant would help, rather than a more typical wet/dry cycle. I have mine on a wick system, so there really aren't even huge fluctuations in the substrate moisture with varying reservoir levels. I do find it to also be pretty particular about other things as well, such as nutrient solution and substrate flushing. I normally flush the pon weekly and the one time I missed a week, it yellowed a leaf. I also tried once to give it a different fertilizer and it also yellowed a leaf. So as long as I flush it and fill its reservoir once a week, it's honestly pretty low maintenance.
How big is your queen? All of mine were just fine and well behaved until their new leaves started exceeding about 16inches in length. As they get bigger, that’s when they become problem children and demand more ideal conditions. All my queens were great until one day they just weren’t and it always was when they reached a certain semi-mature size
@@plantgayforlife oh interesting. My longest leaf is 19". I got it as a seedling a year ago and have been growing it in the same conditions since. It's been a breeze, but I wonder if it will start acting up?
Bro, you Killin me over here. I think I just peed my pants a bit!!!
Some wet their plants. Some wet their pants. I don’t judge😉
@@plantgayforlife dyin!!!
Mine is doing fine. I missed watering it a couple of times, its sitting under a 30w LED without natural sunlight and actually putting out the most gorgeous leaf ever.
How big is it and how many leaves is it holding onto?
@@plantgayforlife it's holding 7 leafs (3 small, 4 big) with the latest being about 40cm long
I wonder what you're actually doing right
😂😂😂
I haven’t gotten thrips on my Thai or albo lately. But I got them on my syngonium 😩. I just sprinkle granules this morning on them. They also dry out too quickly.
just curious, if you loose the bottle part, does the ceramic part screw on soda bottles? These things are often standard size.
Not sure tbh, I think it would be too big for most
This is so funny. First I have to say I am totally dyslexic, hyperactive and I multitask. I was telling my son about this channel. I kept calling it "Plant Guy For Life". He calls it by it's right name, and I was like why you saying that dude? Hi hi hi oops ❤
