    Cook the bacon on a cookie sheet in you oven. Let it cool, put it in freezer bags and put in your freezer. You can quickly re-heat it in a hot skillet.

    Best Chorizo breakfast recipe: Take 1/2 that Chorizo and cook it in a pan till it melts and cooks down a little to a brown consistency, but not burnt.......Then add 6 eggs to the pan(I say this to give you an idea about the best ratio, but make however much you need for your family). As they start to cook a bit start mixing the eggs into the Chorizo, its done when the eggs are done. I like to eat it with a warm tortilla with some mayo on it. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast to eat, and I'm not even that big of a breakfast person. SUPER flavorful and super easy to make. Try it! :)~

    So sorry to hear about your migraine😔I started getting them about 10 years ago and have tried multiple medications and tricks! First it has helped me to identify my triggers and stay ahead of them (not eating and skipping caffeine is a big no no for me), cut back on sugary food and gluten!! Since mine start in the neck I try to sleep in the right position and stretch each morning. If all fells I found that Tylenol extended release works better and faster than any prescribed medication along with laying down on a heating pad applied to the area of pain and cool room temperature does the trick! Prayers🙏🙏🙏❤️

    Refreeze your bacon. I wouldn’t throw it all the way just I’d unthaw it enough to make it easy to get apart ,then put it down and Ziploc bags and put it in your freezer. I also go to the food pantry and I get the big bags of frozen chicken frozen together I had thaw it separated and refreeze it been doing it for years never has hurt me yet .good luck . I know this video is pretty old but I suffer from Intractable Head Pain, I’ve had migraines as well. I’ve tried about 15 different medications and infusions. The only thing that helps me is pain medication and Ice! I bought myself an IceKap years ago and I love it. The owner of IceKap is a wonderful woman and she’s donated IceKaps in the past. I had neurosurgery while I was pregnant in 2007 and my pain is likely inflammation and scar tissue. I sleep with a 4lb bag of ice on my head almost every night. Love all of your videos Carolina ❤️

    I had severe and frequent migraines for over 40 years. I tried everything but very little helped. I also have fibromyalgia and when the doctor put me on Lyrica they all but disappeared. Lyrica has been an absolute Godsend for me but it doesn't work for everybody and it certainly may not be appropriate for you. If you aren't opposed to prescription medications you might approach your doctor about it. However, keep in mind that Lyrica, while approved for treating fibromyalgia is not necessarily approved for the treatment of migraines. Just something to consider. I will hold you in my prayers. Migraines are hideous!

    • @mamabairds
      @mamabairds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for that advice. My doctor mentioned that I don't get them often enough to need a prescription...dang it..haha. I'm sorry to hear you have fibromyalgia! That is an awful condition. I worked in a bakery and one of the cake decorators had it and was in constant pain!

    • @brendastuemke5202
      @brendastuemke5202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have nerve damage and fibromyalgia and have been on lyrica for 7 years. I lose my balance easily and my vision is blurry a few hours after taking it, but it certainly does help with the pain. Had to decide which was worse, so I decided to stay on it. Fibromyalgia is so painful and it’s a constant struggle. My husband had terrible migraines where he would vomit and sleep for days! After doctors prescribing pills after pills we went to a natural alternative clinic. He did a exam and said he wouldn’t touch him until he went and had X-rays done of his head and neck. He told him that he had a neck injury and that was what was causing them. My husband said he had never hurt his neck but then remembered he had fell backwards off a barstool at his sisters wedding. Not thinking he had injured his neck. But, scar tissue had formed in this area and that’s what he said was causing them. Sorry, long story🙈so he had a procedure called prolotherapy(sp)this is where they did a ton of saline injections into the area of the scar tissue. It helped with the compression that was causing the headaches. Believe it or not, he has had about 10 migraines in the last 20 years. Now, if his vision starts to get like tunnel vision, he takes a migraine med and lays down for a few hours and it seems to work before a migraine comes on. Just found your channel and love it! I love seeing what you come up with and wish I had someone I could cook for! I was a very young mom of 5 kids so they are out making their own lives but I miss cooking for a large family! Feeding people is my love language and look forward to family dinners♥️you have a beautiful family and I hope they appreciate the love you put into their meals🥰a lot of kids are eating fast food and frozen pizzas.

    Bacon!!! Lol YUM! Because it is a cured meat, I would be comfortable thawing it enough to separate it and then refreezing it.
    For the migranes: chiropractor! If yours are triggered by light, they make tinted pink glasses that has reduced a friends migraines by about half. Diet can also help. Anti-inflammatory diet, gluten free and/or low carb.

    • @weepingwillowhomestead
      @weepingwillowhomestead 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I do low carb. I had gestational diabetes with my last 3 babies and after my 3rd it changed to type 2. With a low carb diet I can keep my blood sugars in a totally normal range with no meds or side effects. Yeah! And bonus, I've lost about 30 pounds.

    you can defrost, portion, and re-freeze bacon. Since it is mostly pure fat, ice crystals that form during re-freeze don't affect texture too much. Pre-cooking a batch or two of bacon is also a good idea. Be sure to keep the bacon drippings. They keep forever in the fridge and great for pan frying.

    I watched you last night but the video would not let me comment. You might try to take some vitamin D3 on a daily basis to help with the migraines.
    Slip a large knife under each layer as it defrosts to loosen them. I would not worry about the paper. Just put them in a large baggie or vacuum seal them in a bag. You just heat a little in the microwave before using and take the paper off then. I canned bacon but it limits the way you can cook it. You will be surprised how fast you will use up that bacon when you have it on hand. 16 pounds is not that much for 6 people.
    On the subject of canning, my General Dollar store has switched from Golden Harvest canning supplies to a China made jars and lids. It is called Home Life. Don't purchase the Home Life products because they don't work with the traditional jars and lids, we are using. The flat lids are not going to seal. Here is the reason why that has been a problem with Chines canning products because American made does not use a metric standard. American manufactures over a 100 years ago developed glass lined zinc lids with rubber gaskets and that was a major break though for home canning. Glass companies made jars to fit the zinc lids that was made by the company that had the paten to make them. That set the standard on the screw size for the jars. When flat lids and rings were developed, they used the same manufacturing standards so the new lid system would fit all the jars that was in use. Another reason is Asians don't water bath or pressure can like we do. They do some open kettle canning of sauces. I would not trust the jars even if I planned to use their lids because the jars may not be tempered to high temps that we use. Rule of thumb is if the box is marked China, don't waste your time or money on them.

    • @mamabairds
      @mamabairds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's good to know about the China brands of canning supplies. I haven't gotten any of their stuff yet, and now I won't! Haha. I saw on Amazon a 50 lid pack for like $15! I thought that's way too good to be true and sure enough, people in the reviews said they buckled and didn't seal. You know so much of the history of canning and what works! I always look forward to your comments Janet! Oh and it was 30 pounds of bacon not just 16! That'll probably last us the whole year! I couldn't believe it was at the food bank, we are so grateful for it! I refused to buy bacon for the past several months because of how expensive it is all getting.

    • @janetnelson4729
      @janetnelson4729 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mamabairdsOops. I should have watched you again today. At my age my short-term memory is not as good as it used to be. It was a wonderful gift of bacon. I found a few weeks ago mark down bacon and bought all of it for the freezer. It looks like we will be facing high prices to continue in the near future. I posted off topic about lids because there is going to be many new people canning this year and will fall into that trap. Right now, canners are being told to stock up now on supplies on other channels. If the history of why these lids and products don't work is added when told not to buy them, canning novices may remember to check for this. It is a good tip and I hope you pass it on every chance you get. Commercial jars saved from buying sauce in them used to have the same standard lid size. You could water bath reusing these jars, but they could sometimes break in pressure canning. In the 1980's the spaghetti sauce jars stopped using standard canning lid size. That is when manufacturing began to shift to China. looking forward to your next video.

    Migraine toolkit:
    dramine for the nausea also ginger, careful some are spicy, tummy drops I like the one for pregnancy not as hot
    pain relief with caffeine
    Caffeine
    If the trigger is my allergies, sinus meds
    place ice pack on head
    light blocking eye mask
    Dark room
    If you can tolerate noise (my kid can’t so he wears ear plugs) I have found several soft sound TH-cam’s videos of relaxing soundscapes, ear plug in, video on.
    This is all OTC, I have high blood pressure so a lot of migraine meds are vascular restrictions, not ideal with HP.
    Kid got a daily med but it made his fingers numb, so he now has a take as needed. He only uses when it’s really bad, it puts him out for about 6 hours
    Bad news, if your mother has migraines good chance you will too, watch the kiddos especially when the hormones kick in.
    If you can figure out your trigger that helps. Some perfumes can send me over in a few minutes. When the weather pressure drops that is also a trigger of mine. So, I watch the weather for storms and try to don’t enter stores with a lot a perfume items.
    Best of luck

    I get migraines as well -- the kind that make me barf all day if I don't take something right away. Because my sinuses sit lower in my face than on average people (my dentist informed me from my x-rays), my migraines are often related to sinus pressure. I take one sinus pill and Excedrin Migraine and take a nap for about an hour in a dark room. After that nap, I am able to face the world mostly free of pain and without nausea. But I have to take something right away or I will spend the whole day in the bathroom with nausea.

    So I suffer from chronic migraines and fibromyalgia the migraines can be absolutely debilitating it is taking me years to find treatment that helps. Some suggestions are taking a bath once a week in Epsom salt just soaking in it I've been told it helps another thing people swear Excedrin migraine works amazingly I cannot take it because I am allergic to aspirin. Also if you look up probably on Amazon there are these wonderful I mask that you can wear they have like rice and lavender and assortment of things in them but you heat them up in the microwave and then you lay them over your eyes and from the weight that's in them and the smell it really helps with migraines. And if they're too bad where you need to see possibly a neurologist I now take a shot once a month as a precautionary for my migraines and it works well and I also have I believe it's rizatriptan for when I get migraines and then a dark cool room.
