Carolina make some hot vinegar water add a few drops of dish soap and wipe down all of the packages. Remove all paper and cardboard packaging and write instructions on the product with a sharpie. Never use household cleaning products to clean a freezer. My local food bank did that one time and all of their food tasted like the cleaners they used. (Even the eggs) Hope this helps. Good luck!

Wipe all the packs down with disinfectant wipes or some hot soapy water with some bleach in it! I've been given stuff before because someone's freezer went out stuff on top started thawing and juiced the frozen stuff up pretty good and I cleaned it all up and placed in my freezer things that were in flimsy saran type wrappers I wiped what I could and others placed in ziploc bags I had no issues with smells. But it was a blessing to me just as this is to you!

Ginger for wiping everything down to take smell away. Get rid of all paper stuff and rewrap food. In freezer put a lot baking soda in freezer. On fruit can make smoothie bags all ready to go. Also jack fruit is considered a protein. On wings watch Adam Legglife tailgate video. Wings in air fryer learned baking powder and heavy seasoning makes them awesome. Good haul. Lots of work. Kids can safely use ginger rags to wipe off packages. Have a blessed day.

  • @lethamurray3536

Wow, what a score! Definitely make a solution of water & vinegar to wipe everything down before putting it in the freezer. The get a couple boxes of soda to put in your freezer to absorb the smells. Charcoal also works to absorb smells. I'd take some of that wonderful beef & can it! Could do the same with the chicken!! Also chicken Jerky is good! Monk fruit is a good alternative sweetener. Dragonfruit is very pretty, but not a lot of flavor. I love those Ramon bowls!! Just and water & microwave!! Yummy.. I see a lot of canning & drying things in your near future!! What a true blessing you have received from your friend!

Pork Belly: large slab...slice on the diagonal both directions without cutting completely through the slab (pretty harlequin pattern), season well down into the cuts, bake on a rack so the fat runs off at 350-375 until it looks dark and cooked (45 minutes, methinks). I mine with salt/pepper. After cooking, I add Tajin. But I'm Texan and love me some Tajin. You can also deep fry salted strips that are snipped partly every 1". They're finished when the steam slacks off and they turn golden. Fried--best bacon on the planet!

WOW, that wasn't just a lot of food, that was really good chef-y food. The baking soda is a great idea. I would also give a quick wipe down of all the packaging with some diluted vinegar and water. Vinegar will kill kitchen orders better than anything, and it is CHEAP! FYI, it is pronounced AH (like ah, so cute) sigh (like heavy sigh) EE (phonetic long e). It doesn't taste great to me, but it's supposed to be a superfood, so throw it in all the smoothies in your future and live long and prosper😃

All of the frozen fruit, veggies, wontons, ravioli, mini pizzas, etc- basically anything that's pieces in a plastic bag or box, pour them into new gallon Ziplock freezer bags. You can take a picture or photo copy of the info & directions on the original package for later reference. It's probably mostly the outer bag or box that has the smell so by getting rid of the outer bag or box you reduce the smell. Plus it usually saves freezer space over the original bags & boxes. We live 100 miles from Costco with a family of 6 so we buy multiple bags at a time of frozen fruit & veggies & we transfer them from Costco original bags to gallon Ziplock freezer bags. It saves space in the freezer & since we have multiple major food allergies in the family we can label bags who can safely eat it. Anything that needs to be used up first gets a star when we label it.
For things like the big pizzas, meat in big pieces, etc. if you have the big roll of plastic wrap, remove the wrapper off the item & wrap it in tight, multiple layers of plastic wrap. You can label it by writing what it is on a piece of paper & putting it on top before you wrap the last couple layers. It won't protect from freezer burn as long as airtight original package but you need to use this stuff up ASAP anyway so the crab smell doesn't seep in any further.

Put baking soda in containers with holes in the top, empty margarine container work great. This should take some of the odor away

Dehydrate frozen veggies. All you have to do is empty the bag on your racks and go. They are already blanched before freezing. They are great for soups, stews. Dehydrated sweet corn is actually good to eat like candy...yum. Consider canning the meat.... you truly have been blessed!

What an amazing gift. You could wipe it all down with a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Then put some boxes of baking soda in your fridge/ freezer to help with any smells left behind. Pork belly is really good in a Vietnamese dish called Thit kho. It's braised pork belly and eggs in coconut water. The pork is caramelized. It is my favorite Vietnamese dish! restaurants don't have it on the menu, it is more of a family style meal. Or you could do a Filipino pork adobo or inihaw na liempo(grilled pork belly), also Filipino. Those are my favorite e pork belly dishes. Crispy pork belly with garlic fried rice is really good too!!!

My boyfriend asked me to write this recipe.
Doritos French Fried Chicken Wings 😆 🤣
    Milk (to cover the chicken)
3 eggs scramble for each pound.
Scramble those and mix in the bowl with chicken and Milk.
    Seasoned to your liking
    Let it soak 24 hours.
Take it out and let it set in room temperature 1-2 hours before you plan to cook.
    Then Drain your chicken.
Flour with your choice of spices. (Unless you have a store-bought chicken breader)
Then add your choice of doritos to the chicken breader. Crush them as fine as you can get them.
Lol! I don't know why but if you add a hint of brown sugar. You might like it even more.
Ok now get the chicken and get it coated with your chicken breader.
Then fry them however you feel more comfortable.
P.S. I typed this just as he told me too. 😆 🤣

I’m glad you can use it and hope the food doesn’t taste fishy when you use it! Looks like you got some good tips to get the smell off them too! Have fun with all your new to you food! Carolina, what a haul!! I had to comment when you mentioned the wings. I used to do mine on the grill but since getting the air fryer, that is my go to. I literally just salt and pepper them and toss them in until they are done. I just give them a shake once in awhile and cook till crispy. My favorite is buffalo, so its Franks hot sauce and a bit of butter. so delicious. Another way is sweet, hot, which is the Franks and some honey. Let 'Chef Mike', I think you say that, heat them and toss. We don't even do wings out anymore because they are so dang easy and delicious at home.

Edamame if no one in the family will eat them as is; cook until very soft, puree, freeze in small amounts & add to other foods to add nutrition & protein. You can also take the puree, pour it thin like fruit leather, dehydrate it till completely dry & then powder it to add to other foods.

Wow I'm amazed, you can feed the family for a month with that 💕 glad you can fit it in. Jackfruit is often used as meat substitute and I had it a couple of times in curries. I think you can use up edamame beans in chillis, they will hide well 😉 I'm really interested in seeing how the jerky turns up. My son loves jerkey and it costs arm and a leg to buy

Wow what a great haul. You could dehydrate the frozen fruit and vegetables, use up this week the older stuff, and then make up a few of the meats for dinners.
