ci mancherai Chick
'if I forget the notes, I will improvise' puts smile on classically trained pianists' faces. you are dearly missed legendary, Mr.Corea. R.I.P.
Or a shiver of trepidation!
Rest In Peace Dr. Corea! Your Children’s Songs have a special place in my heart.
just saw chick tonight, two hours ago, in SF. solo piano recital. it was like watching magic. he played these children’s songs. did i say it was like watching magic? not dumbass las vegas magic, but magic like the elves in tolkien, or merlin, or God improvising on the piano
Hey, I like dumbass Las Vegas magic!
But yeah, I know... Chick Corea is a wizard.
@@jimsjazzz lol dumbass Las Vegas music 😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Goodbye Great Maestro! Thanks for your wonderful music, Rip Legend
These are in the lineage of Ravel, Debussy, Satie. Important piano music IMO. I think they will eventually become part of the serious concertizing pianist's repertoire - just great Chick.
Bartok is the main inspiration not these French composers.
@@johnoldland7841 Chick often cited bartok as a main influence, but there are passages in some of them which directly quote harmonic progressions from Ravel. Le Tombeau de Couperin to be specific.
@@johnoldland7841 absolutely! his quartal playing where do we think comes from??
Je suis daccors
Must not forget Scriabin and Berg
Goodbye Maestro. Your music made the world a better place. You will be missed.
I’ve loved him ever since the summer of 1976 when I discovered My Spanish Heart and listened to it all summer. Since then I’ve seen him in concert too many times to remember. I miss him so much already. A part of my youth had died too.
God speed you on your way, Chick.
Thanks for your wonderful music Great Maestro!
Bartok would have loved these Children Songs!!
Día triste. Se retiró un genio del escenario. Que en paz y armonía descanses, querido Chick. Gracias por tanto.
verdad...
5:41 Anybody know the backstory between 👧Children’s Song #6 (1984) and Song to the Pharaoh Kings? (1974)👑
I see all of these wonderful musicians as the ones who influenced my life in a positive way. In fact they pushed my life in the right direction.
Thank you chick for having a positive influence in my life. I will always remember you. RIP.
what can we say? speechless... a profit... a visionary... a poet ... a story teller. SUCH beauty. He knows who he is.
So good for mind & heart. Oh how we'll miss him.
Thank you Mr Corea for all your beautiful music and Songs...
When Chick Corea plays its like he grows a pair of wings and just fly away.
this
Improvisation starts on No. 6 ..... "forget the notes" my ass, this is a jazz piece! ;-)
5:39!
RIP Chick Corea, you were a great jazz pianist and a huge part of my record collection growing up.
and wonderful composer!
RIP Chick, Thanks for the music, your legacy will live on 😭
Music will never be the same again. RIP Chick. Thank you for your sharing your brilliant light.
Music will keep on growing thanks to chicks contributions and all the great musicians that came before him. It’s up to the next generation to pick up the relay baton and carry it a bit further and they will. Listen to Robert Glasper and Corry Henry and the new generation. When Art Tatum died, people said the same thing. Oscar Peterson and his generation of piano players picked up that relay baton and carried it further. When they died people said the same. Music will never be the same. Low and behold Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock and all their generation piano players again picked up that relay baton and and carried it further. Music will always grow no matter who the musicians.
I do thank Chick for having a positive influence on my life with his music. I will always remember him. His music will linger on. RIP chick.
You are a great musician and will be sorely missed. Thanks for the beautiful music.
RIP chick. One of the greatest
It's interesting that generally speaking, jazzers can play classical, but legit players can never develop that swing sense they need for sounding authentically jazzy.
I can not tell you how thrilled I am to find this
- Chick, the painter.
Combinations of Jazz and Bartok ! Chick made a fascinating cocktail.
You will be missed but not forgotten. Hope your next adventure will be grand!
You WILL BE MISSED CHICK! The Stories You've Told Through Your Music! Rest Easy Brutha! Love You Always, GOD BLESS
Genial que expectacular músico.
Muchas gracias.
There's a striking parallel to Federico Mompou's solo piano cycle Musica Callada (it resonates mostly with the less jazzy ones of Corea's songs). Herbert Henck's recording strongly recommended.
If you like Mompou, I highly recommend the solo piano recording by Volodos.
R. I.P. Chick corea 😔😪🙏
no 6
Always been my preferred :)
All songs are wonderful but the 6 is really exceptional ...😎
Chick is a genius pianist
one of my favorites definitely.
Why is number 12 missing? :'(
Edit: just realized it's a selection of songs
RIP to the legend best ever

Querido Armando, tú música va a seguir brillando aquí o... allá
Very nice - my childhood's evcercise... - never have ssen and listened to the original...wow
I miss my first jazz teacher at 16 over 50.years ago.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻tremendamente fantástico, solo lloró me parte en dos.
Was he also playing "Song For The Pharaoh Kings" also or does 1 of his Children's Songs have the same melody as that one?
Yes, it's the same as Children's Song #6 arranged for the RTF band. There are a few other albums where Chick includes others from his CS series, like on "The Leprechaun", there's a version of CS #9 retitled Pixiland Rag. Also on "My Spanish Heart" he has CS #8.
and number 3 is usually the intro for Space Circus from RTF.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I was there that evening. Never forget!!!
本当に、本当に素晴らしい音楽をありがとうございました。
I love U 4ever!
Number 6 Number 6.

Guessing not a whole lot of children are going to be playing these up to tempo.
They're not written for children. they're children songs because they are full of spirit, just like children.
Amazing genius. Other than chick: a rooster.
I think the one at 15:00 is an improvisation
This is not a Children Song.
@@kubrickinho Have you got any idea of what is it then? Couldn't find it in the album too.
@@volhovm I don't know. I think is just an improvisation in that moment.
@@kubrickinho It sounds like and improvisation of 'My One and Only Love'
Chick Corea as a young man then, is still large and in charge getting the job done in Corona virus 2020.👍👏🇺🇸😎🌅🏆🤗

I don't know many adults, let alone children, that could understand or appreciate these tunes, especially Corea's interpretation. I am reminded of Bela Bartok's Hungarian folk tunes.
He said once (I believe during a workshop) that these were meant to be portraits of different aspects of children's personalities, not pieces meant for children to hear or play necessarily.
Meravigliosa creatura della fantasia dell' anima dei colori
I love these!
Pure Angelic Genius. Thank you Chick 💙
He looks hier like Profesor( La Casa de Papel) ;) R. I. P.

Chick Corea -- one of my favorite musicians of all time!
Fantastic
Amazing, such peace, when he plays, remember I grew up listen to these children songs; I would sit down and listen and be transported to another world!
Can anyone recommend me some other Chick Corea's works similar to this?
Expressions album
@@wkh4321music thank you
@@adctm you’re welcome Matheus
You might want to check out the duet album with Gary Burton (vibes) called 'Crystal Silence'.
Some evocative pieces on the album - the title cut, Desert Air, Feelings and Things . . .
If l may throw this out there - two albums by guitarists John Abercrombie (Characters) and Ralph Towner (Solo Concert - and now that l think of it - any of his four? solo albums.)
I know - not solo piano recordings but, all of them are filled with fantastic evocative, impressionistic music a la Chick's Children's Songs.
Ding, ding $.02.
Happy listening.
@@pjcerto1074 Thank you!!
what is the piece before the last one?
Unfortunately we don't know either? Can someone help?
I presume he was bored with Children Songs at this stage so he proceeded with some fresh new impro just for small break
He's improvising. He probably wanted to loosen up before the insanity of number 20. Not that he needs to loosen up. THis is so good
Either improvisations on no. 6 or on no. 10. The phrase work seems most similar to no. 10 to me, but this is just a guestimate.
no 1
"If I forget the notes, I'll improvise."
