  • Wooden pumpkins make with 2x4s and a tree branch. Can be stained to give them even more character. made 12 of these at once. these were rough cut to 13" long with 7 layers. I then cut them to shape with the band saw. After sanding, I added the stems by cutting a tree branch and gluing on top.

Neat pumpkins, I made a few out of scrap wood years ago for a family member similar design.

Kyle Miller Thanks, I had a request for these for a Pinterest party. They are staining each piece different shades. Always fun to try new things.

How long does something like this takes to make? About 15-20mins to make all twelve?

This video was so great! What is the machine called where you cut the clamped pieces into the pumpkin shape? I subscribed to your xhannel... you have great material! 😊🎃

I'm very sorry i didn't respond to your question! I haven't been keeping a good enough eye on the comments. It was a bandsaw if it is still relevant. Thanks for watching!

Do you have a template or drawing of this pumpkin for the shape of it?

@sandynorman700 no I don't. Sorry. I believe I made a template with card stock paper and a pencil.

I made these for a friend, she wanted to stain them so we left them unglued until the stain was done. She glued them after.. because they were 2x4s with the rounded edges the glue would have squeezed into the cracks and the stain wouldn't have taken in those areas.. Thanks for checking them out!

could this be done with a jigsaw? or a scroll saw?

A good jigsaw probably. You would need a blade that is long enough to cut through 3.5" of wood. Scroll saw I dont think could do it because the blade on those are made for delicate cuts. Thanks for checking it out!

I'm making these tomorrow. All I have is a skillsaw though. No band saw.

That's awesome!! May have to used thinner wood with a skill saw or just get creative by maybe laying them together and drawing your shape then cutting each board separately then gluing them together. Best of luck, I'd love to see the results!
