One of the things I enjoy most about these CC episodes - specifically the more dated ones, is the language and the way people speak - their register ... i't's a fashion that we rarely hear these days in modernity.
John Moffat [Mr Honeycombe the defence counsel] was a tremendous actor, who in his long life of ninety years could portray [and did] just about every kind of character, on stage, and in radio and televison, and on film, and knew and worked with the greatest actors of the day. His distinctive voice was so often heard with great pleasure in those days in radio plays. There are quite a number of such actors, who deserve more recognition.
I remember him from a "minder" episode, played a Ronnie/Reggie Kray type, nothing overt just a hint. I must've seen him appear in other things but Minder and Crown Court stand out.
I loved him as Hercule Poirot in the BBC Agatha Christie radio dramas -- and unless I'm very much mistaken, he was also a voice actor in a BBC Radio production of "Neuromancer".
The Rev should've got off - the prime directive of the original trust was to have a spiritual content. The Doc and the Nurse should've been reprimanded for gross misconduct in not adhering to the prime directive.
Good grammar. I even hear bad grammar on the BBC now days. Standards have dropped so much. My kids inform me that it doesn't matter so much these days.......really?
God told him to buy the house !, and he saw a nail in the palm of his hand ! That's is clear evidence of a disturbed mind, but clever enough to make money from peoples suffering.
Why not? According to the very clear evidence he has his finger in the till so as to speak and used his claimed hearing capabilities to feather his nest.
Spiritual does not mean healing, that is something completely different. All charities have some form of spirituality. He was a sad, money grabbing and typical Christian, only interested in themselves. The church has more money than their fictitious god, but they never help anyone but their own. Wow I'm such a cynic!
I remember watching these when I was off sick from primary school in the 70s. They don't make programmes like this anymore, good memories.

Yes sir, I fully agree with you, it’s such a shame people have so little or no respect for each other and the emergency services.
Yes. I know exacty what you mean. Proper English addressed correctly. . Rare nowadays.
So right and this series is used in Drama and Music Schools all over the world to show resonance management and voice projection
"The Lord, God, my Lord" prosecuting counsel. Great script, beautifully acted. Thanks

A very good story with an interesting theme. Many thanks for the upload.
Thank god for Jez. All this rubbish on TV this Christmas, but Jez gives us this. thank you Jez at last.Something quality to view :)
Hey same for this Christmas , cool
What a nice Christmas present, Thank you for uploading on the 25th!
It is a testament to the Amazing acting , that whenever i watch an episode of crown court I always think im watching a real case. Fabulous show!!😊
What a surprise outcome... The prosecution case was so weak that I thought the judge would direct the jury to return a not guilty verdict.
The case of the Queen against King?
With the defendant being a vicar, get the bishop involved! Checkmate!
I was on the jury for this one and enjoyed the company of the delightful young ladies … 🤵♂️
David Burke played Dr. Boyd here, and played Dr. Watson about 15 or so years later, with Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.
It's nice to see him in his younger days.
Judy Parfitt also appears in Call the Midwife as Sister Monica Joan
David Burke is an excellent actor. The best Watson I ever saw and his portrayal of Stalin in Reilly Ace of Spies was unique.
A mean-spirited verdict!
Excellent Jez T
Many thanks again:)
Many, many, many, many, many thanks, Jez.

This is the most British programme i have seen for a long time.I have jury service and not looking forward to it.
.yes good time to add.I'm now watching 11 months later.great.
A grievous arithmetical error at 52:48: 150 + 100 + 17 most certainly does NOT equal 167!
Oh dear, you're right. It seems the prosecuting counsel failed his maths O-level (as it would have been then)!!!
Perhaps thereby demonstrating how easily errors of accounting can be made. :)
Afternoon TV of a previous age. Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be! 😅
Good grammar. I even hear bad grammar on the BBC now days. Standards have dropped so much. My kids inform me that it doesn't matter so much these days.......really?
If there was any doubt, then the address Mr.Brady was now living at surely dispelled any such doubt. Correct verdict.
I really don't see how that's relevant. Vic had moved out, witness needed a place to stay and Vic put him in touch.
The Charlatan was given a correct verdict .
The Reverend should have stuck to anointing of the sick and praying with them. But, he's no regular hospital chaplain.
Both Judy Parfitt and William Simons appeared as both barristers and witnesses. Maybe there were a few others too.
Gwen Watford was both Counsel and accused in different episodes.
TP McKenna had been on both sides of the dock too.
@@kronsteen9093 one episode featured an actor who played the defendant in one episode and the judge in another!
Miss Fanshaw could easily be Leo Sayer's twin sister
.n earley took a full episode up.getting to the dock.
Yes what chance does a person of faith have in a "secular court". This decision would indicate very little chance.
I disagree with the verdict.
No it was correct, He's a fake healer.
I confess I was undecided whether he was well-intentioned but bumbling and unwordly, or a calculating fraud beneath the persona.
"the queen against King"... nowadays that sounds like an expose they would feature on Netflix 😁
4,000 quid? Rookie numbers by American TV vicar standards.
52:25 When people could do sums without a calculator. 50p a gallon, by eck!
IMHO the correct verdict
Another diabolical verdict! lol
Guilty! Are they nuts?
More a thieving hand than a healing hand from the clergyman here.
"God's work, presumably, requires some use of the postal services"
Dry humour at its best.
The Case of the Queen v King....
God told him to buy the house !, and he saw a nail in the palm of his hand ! That's is clear evidence of a disturbed mind, but clever enough to make money from peoples suffering.
the Matron been here before
The Queen beat the King. I don’t agree with the verdict. No way.
Why not? According to the very clear evidence he has his finger in the till so as to speak and used his claimed hearing capabilities to feather his nest.
Garbage verdict.

God is not fictitious - he is a living spirit ready through his son jesus christ gives your soul eternal life
Also- the defense counsel stated that that the court is secular and yet an oath on the bible is regularly invoked!
I guess we can thank God you was not on the Jury.
@@KeithbarberHe certainly isn't .
@@crosseyedone7960No but he's the ultimate judge .
DISGUSTING ADVERTS.
